Anybody body else HATE the movie?

The movie was awful. Even my husband didnt like it. Books were good.

Words cannot describe my humiliation of being human after watching the movie
Just watched arya svit-kona's http and wow i was blown away by the bullshit the movie was dishing out, i hated the movie and knew it left out a lot of stuff but smeghead really exposed Eragon the movie for the trite it truly was. PS. please excuse my language.

Totally. And the sad part is that it wasn't even a good movie by itself...I mean, if it weren't supposed to be based on anything. My mom and I watched it. She hasn't read the books, and though she enjoyed the movie, she agreed that it was a pathetic excuse for a movie. I did like how they made Saphira look, though (except that it was stupid that she didn't have any spikes...they're mentioned considerably often in the books, and they would have made her more awesome). Her looks was the best part of the movie. And when she was little, she was just absolutely adorable. =)
It would have been better if the king wasn't in the movie. He didn't have a part. He just sat on his throne. Eragon should have looked different. Same with alot of other characters. They took out too much stuff. If they made another movie then it would be all flash backs! Its frusterating.

And there were actually two other best parts...the scenery and Roran/Eragon's relationship. I absolutely loved the scenery, it even looked as though it was part of a fantasy land, but it was also still so real-looking at the same time...though they did skip the desert and the 10-mile-high-or-more mountains. They did an amazing job with Roran--other than his appearance, of course. The way he's only in the movie for a few minutes (do to all the changes they made -_-), but you still feel like he was a big part of the movie. And even though they took Katrina out, it didn't take away from his character (but that's because he was only in the movie for a few minutes). So they did a nearly perfect job with Roran. (Though the part where he tells Eragon he's leaving is a bit...cheesy.) So maybe Roran was actually the best part of the movie...but small Saphira is still adorable. ;)

Arya's description was at the very beginning of the story.
Im sure they didn't even READ the book....
I'm willing to bet noone involved in the making of the movie read the book, Paolini was probably the only one there with any idea of the plot and characters!
Paolini was at the set of the movie when it was being made? too bad he couldn't intervene.....
There's soooo much wrong with the movie, it would take FOREVER to even list it all, if you could even remember everything! The only reason I don't absolutely totally and completely abhor the stupid movie is because it gives my little sister (age 9) a chance to preview the books, as pathetic a preview as it is (and because I preferred to at least TRY to enjoy it, since I was warned before I did)...too bad they didn't actually get it right. I mean, seriously, is it really THAT hard? You created an entire dragon but couldn't make its wings leathery instead of feathery and give it some spikes, find a girl with black hair -- or use something called HAIR DYE -- and put some pointy ears on her, and get a guy with dark brown hair and eyes?? And they totally changed her personality! She's like...flirting with Eragon almost in the movie. Totally NOT! And you had to keep Eragon weak and untrained, and yet have him do more and make him more important than he really is? And you had to make Saphira into this all-knowing...well, goddess-like...character and yet reduce her (and all dragons) to almost nothing in comparison to her/their Rider(s)? And I could go on and on and on and on and on and...
Heck yes it was bad. They need to remake it, and base it on the book.
or just give all fans a GIANT apology and remake the movie with Christopher Paolini as a consultant, him able to change anything he doesn't like.

in my case ive watched the movie first, i like it and decide to read the book... i love the book so much that i take a second look of the movie and that's it i realize how short it is all the good scenes are not in the movie and how so much better it could have be..
I had some pretty high expectations for the movie. I thought they would at least be able to work out some character development, especially between Brom and Eragon. That bond between the two is crucial and I believed that's what drives the storyline. Sadly, it was a disappointment. My one friend and I were like...so many good things...where are they?! The only other friend who didn't read the book thought it was decent, while we agonized over it.
Aryas and Eragons releationship was completely different. Eragon was drooling over her but not as much as he was in the bok. Murtagh was just.... wrong. They only character that i actually though they did on was Ajihad. And even he was below parr.
I didn't mind the movie. Yeah they could have done better; like showing how much time passed and keeping a lot of the dialogue, but I wouldn't mind watching it again or even owning it myself. And considering how Hollywood likes to add adult content to such movies it wasn't really bad.

They only character that i actually though t..."Yeah, most all the relationships and personalities were really off. The only one they really got right is Roran/Eragon. Although, while I agree they messed up on Murtagh, I think he was decent enough...especially when compared to SOME characters... I really didn't like how they made Brom into such a mean, snappy person...he was supposed to be the beloved storyteller who Eragon loved to ask questions! Yes, he was somewhat snappish in the books, but not that much...and he certainly wouldn't burn someones house down like that! But Arya was totally the worst, hands down and no doubt about it.
Ugh, there is just WAY too much wrong about it.

I HATED THE MOVIE!!! I LOVED THE BOOK. I was so excited to watch the move (thinking it would be wonderful) but I was very disappointed.
Not to the extent of hatred.. but I didn't like the movie after reading the book!

Especially true in this instance. If they would remake this movie we would watch again. Love or Hate we are looking for a movie that lives up to the Wonderful Book and our imaginations. I believe with computer animation and graphiics let alone wardrobe & character it could be done. A movie done correctly will draw enough box office to cover the expense of doing it right. Perhaps there are some "Lord of the Rings" sets left over they could use for castles, mountains and the Haderac Desert. Get the book artist to schematic and draw out the dragons. The a great director to bring it all together.
Origanally, I watched the movie before I read the book and I thought the movie was okay. The dialogue was a little bland, but it was decent. A few years later I read the book and I LOVED it. Then I watched the movie again and saw it for the piece of dung it really was. There were so many terrible changes to the story that completely ruined the plot of the second installment, Eldest. But for me, the worst part was the setting. I think it's strange that a lot of fans haven't talked about this subject. When I read the book, the world of Alagaesia seemed COMPLETELY different from the movie. I know the place is ruled by Galbatorix but I still always imagined as a complex,fairly civilized, unique world that was slightly similar to Middle-earth. The setting of the film gives the place a miserable look that isn't very civlized and everyone lives in ramshackle houses. There was a scene in book that described Dras-Leona (and that's only one city) as having "ramshackle buildings." Perhaps the makers thought: "Oh, let;s give the movie an entirely ramshackle world! Instead of making it look like Alagaesia, we'll make it look like a ghetto Star Wars planet."
Are you kidding me? The Varden looked like advanced cavemen and Angela looked like an ancient Egyptian peasant who's obsessed with gold.
When the movie is remade (hopefully) I'm hoping that they'll improve on the setting, the world-building, the detail, and the acting (along with everything else).
I'll give the director a break, though. It was his first film so I can't blame him.

To me if they waited for more books to come out like LOTRs and Harry Potter they might of had a better results than what they made. Sens they started years before eldest came out they desided to make up shit like this pease of shit movie. (sorry for the langueg) the fact the left out a lot of characters theirs no point of continuing them and just put them in and expect us to exsept it.

We left the theater about 30 minutes into it. That's the only time I've ever walked out of a movie. We'd read the books prior to the movie's release.
I hated the movie too I've heard Paolini actually liked it though but that's probably because of all the royalties he is receiving.

He was fifteen when he wrote them! If you are judging by the movie alone then you are correct. But if you have not read the last book, you should see how far he came along. He really progressed as a writer, not that you would know if you had not read the lats book!
Admittedly, the movie was nothing in comparison to the brilliance of the books, and yes, the directors totally screwed it up.But I will say that if you look at the book and movie as separate entities, I still think the movie is quite good - apart from a few really cheesy lines.
It is a shame they couldn't have done it well enough to continue the movie in the series..... *sigh* oh well.
By the way, the soundtrack to the movie is awesome.
I detest the movie. The only character properly portrayed was Murtagh. It's irritating and depressing.
Is it too late to join the party? I remember that I came out of the cinema thinking "What the fuck did I just watch?" The director/screenwriter must have thrown away the book before commencing on this project, because it definitely wasn't what they based the movie on.
