Did it need a cliffhanger?

I LOVED Legend!!! It was one of the best books I had ever read! But the ending was a bit.... Non-exciting - sorry, I don't know what word to use. But anywho - the story ended quite well - considering. And I know for sure there is going to be a second book so why not make a cliffhanger?! As much as I hate them they keep readers interested and on their toes. It would also help the success of Marie Lu because cliffhangers make me want to by the new book.

I agree I also loved legend but the ending was ok,nothing special like pandemonium, when Alex said don't believe her at the end. A lot of people can't wait for requrium.they wonder what will happen next.

I think this book doesn't need a cliffhanger. Lu made me want to read the second book because I wanted to know how the story ended, not because I wanted to know what happened after the THIS BIG cliffhanger. I hate those things. Ugh, if the story is good enough the book doesn't need a cliffhanger.

i dont think it needed it, personally i really dont like cliffhangers, the book itself if it was good is the thing that makes me get the sequel. and i think the ending was fine by itself. but i understand why others want cliffhangers

Honestly, I've gotten so sick and tired of cliffhangers lately. Almost every single book on my shelf (which has 300+ books) ends in some sort of cliffhanger. At first, cliffhangers were interesting but after a while they got so overdone. Having Legend end without a cliffhanger made me love it all that much more.

However, if you need a cliffhanger go and read the snyopsis of Prodigy (the second book). It'll make you as you said "interested and kept on your toes". (:
