We may think he is a jerk....but Ana enjoyed that experience. Thouroughly. She enjoyed a lot of his kinky fuckery. The only thing that she didn't like was the more severe and intense acts. Namely being hit with canes, belts or whips....and truth be told, I think her real issue was his motivation. She was fine with erotic spankings, floggings and light bondage. She didn't like the idea of being hit and then "fucked" as a punishment for doing something wrong.
Having said that, I also think that Ana was one of those types that secretly gets off on the drama because for someone who doesn't like being punished, she certainly made it her business to purposely do things that she knew without a doubt would piss him off.

I think Ana is the type of gal, although innocent,is a bit precocious, very analytical and loves the challenge of living on the edge. Can any of you think back to your first sexual experience? Did you take a risk? Did it excite you to find out what it was all about? Now imagine Ana meeting a gorgeous, sexy rich guy who knew the art of making love, (no kinky stuff first, only vanilla). The sparks were ignited in her, (the special feeling when you fall in love), and she couldn't stay away. It made me think of when I first met my husband 43 years ago.

Jenna, I've been meaning to ask you for a rec... I bought all of the books from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series as a gift for my sister, and she is loving them. What is another series similar to this one that you might recommend? (If there is one:)

Dark hunters by Sherrilyn Kenyon, Anita Blake Series by Laurelle K Hamilton

I agree

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Are you suggesting once someone reads a book they have no right to complain? Nobody can have an opinion on a book, whether positive or negative, if they haven't read it. And nobody should be expected to keep their opinions to themselves simply because some people might choose to get upset over someone not liking their favorite book. We all have our own opinions and shouldn't be discouraged from expressing them.

Kris,
Jeannine Frost's books the Night Huntress Series are also good, as are Kresley Cole's! But otherwise I agree with Jenna.

Thanks Karen! I just checked them out and they look good!
What do you guys think of the Succubus books? Any good...or cheesy?

I haven't read the Succubus books.. but JR Ward has some Fallen Angel books that are amazing. You have to read them in order though. (I think the first one is called Covet) And Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark series is also very good. I also heard Lyndsay Sands' Argeneau Vampires Series is very good, but I haven't read those yet, maybe Jenna has though.

And how I am supposed to know that I wouldn't like the book I haven't read?

So it boils down to nature.
What better way that to give woman something where they can pretty much explore everything. Novel 2 is still full of sex - and sex will always sell. But it's more set on bringing the beauty out in love. pleasing your partner. Enjoying different things. Accommodating each other and supporting people irrespective of their pasts. I'm almost inclined to say that it reflects growth.
Bad writing but growth in character.

These books are not romances. The series is a love story but not a romance. There was no romance at all at any time that I can remember. I never felt the love between them and I read romances all the time so I know what they're like. There was nothing to cultivate love other than sex and he didn't want anything more until she left. Anybody can have sex but to love is entirely different and I don't think Christian was capable of it and she thought she could change him.
Now we need to see a book called Fifty Shades of Grey: Ten Years Later

I have one of her books but i havnt read it yet i have heard good things tho

I think your response was very insightful, but I don't think I agree with you in the sense that it wasn't a romance. I do believe it was, in the purest sense of the word. It was not traditional, this is true. But the sex was only what attracted them in the beginning. I think that Christian and Ana, discovered quite early on, that there was way more to their relationship than sex. Not that they didn't have sex often, they did. But their attraction went way beyond that. Christen only used sex as a excuse to bring them together.
This may sound corny, but I think it was like the metaphorical mouse who took the thorn from the paw of the lion. In the face of danger, the mouse sought protection from his ultimate enemy, offering him love and comfort in a world he may have ruled, but ruled alone. I think was like the erotic version of Beauty and the Beast, etc....
I thought it was well done, for a first work, not without flaws, but well done nonetheless. It was creative and titillating. It was not just a story about sex.

I hope Christian's POV at the end of #3 will come before the 10 years later book. I have visions of Christian meeting his biological father, another multi-millionaire business tycoon when he's brokering a business deal to buy him out because his company is in the red. When Christian learns it's his biological father, he puts the screws to him and gets even. I invision his father hired Ella for sex because she was beautiful. She used the money for her drug habit. Christian's brilliance in business actually comes from his biological father. I can see you all smirking at me. I write mystery novels. I've published two. My third that I just finished is a romance/drama,Buried Secrets. I hope to have published by the end of the year. Lake Charm and Fatal Choices is on Kindle, Amazon, Barnes & Noble.com and Books-A-Million. Fatal Charm was my first book. I found out I had a love for writing after retiring from Delta Air Lines. :)

Jenna, these are some of my favorite stand-alones that I've read here on GR:
Jellicoe Road

How to Kill a Rock Star

Flat Out Love

Sempre

The Sweet Gum Tree

Sorry for listing so many, but I couldn't choose just one ;)

No problem, glad I could return the favor :) Hope you enjoy!

Well, i've read so many great books recently. One of my favorite books of all time is The Book Thief, I also loved all of the ones Kris recommended, (except I haven' yet read How to Kill a Rock Star). Beautiful Disaster is another one, also Slammed which does have a sequel which is Point of Retreat. If you are looking for paranormal stuff, let me know. I particularly loved , which is one of Kris' recs.Sempre
If you like erotica, The Siren is amazing, but again it has a couple of sequels (which aren't published yet).
Oh... and I just added one to my list that is getting awesome reviews, On Dublin Street, so maybe we can read it together.
Oh... and I remembered one more On the Island

I have more but many of them have sequels, it's amazing how few stand alone books I've read recently! If you are interested in any others, let me know.
I don't know if you've read Karen Marie Moning's Fever Series, it is a paranormal romance series about the Fey, it has about 5 or 6 books total, and it starts with

just settled in after getting off work and finally checked them all out and they all sound really good, im kinda wanting to start on the island it sounds awesome :)gonna see if i can track down a copy for the nook

Maybe you're right. I am a reader of traditional romances and I write them, too (never submitted one for publication, though). I guess I missed the flowery stuff which this book really didn't have.
The mouse and the lion was a good way to put it. I think you're right about that.
Is there going to be a fourth book?

Go to this site. Meet Fifty Shades Continued. There are 34 chapters,(soon to be 35), all in Christian's POV. It is written by an author from the U.K. He has a disclaimer before each chapter that the characters and story belong to E L James and he's only adding this for fun and not profit. When you read the chapters you'll believe it's E L James writing it. This guy is amazing. He's also done 3 chapters with Grace's POV.

I'll say, that's some good hatin' there!! Oh, and by the way... that's more than two words.

Kris,
If you were a book... it definitely would NOT be shitty!!!!
