Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments In book 1 of this steamy new contemporary western romance by two blockbuster authors, a cowboy and a woman on the run take a stand and fight for love.

Carlin Reed lives in fear, off the grid, moving from place to place. So Battle Ridge, Wyoming, a small town in the middle of nowhere, seems like a good place to lie low for awhile. But after the cook and housekeeper to cattle rancher, Zeke Decker, Carlin suspects that she made her first mistake.Rugged, sexy, and too distracting for his own good, Zeke is pure temptation mixed with something deep and primal that makes Carlin feel almost safe. Soon things are getting way too hot in the kitchen.

Zeke doesn't challenge Carlin's terms: cash, dead bolts, and no questions. It is easy to see that she's a woman in trouble. Problem is, he's so blindsided by his attraction to her he can't think straight. Zeke tries to stay all business, no complications - but that game plan is sabotaged the second Carlin gets under his skin. And when her terrifying past follows her to the ranch, Carlin faces a heartbreaking choice: run away from the man she loves, or put him in the crosshairs of a madman.

Comes out in Nov. 27, 2012

Jonetta (ejaygirl) Definitely! It won't be released until November so I'll have to hold the review until closer to that date.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I can't wait to hear your review, Jonetta. I wonder about it, because it is written with Linda Winstead Jones. Together LH and LJ wrote Blood Born, which to me was boring. LJ also wrote Raintree Haunted, which was the second of the Raintree trilogy, and my least favorite.

I love the premise of the story and I love LH. I just hope the two of them can deliver.

Kathy Anne (kathyanne) | 598 comments I feel the same Dee.There are so very few authors anywhere close to Linda, and I didn`t like any of that trilogy either,I also hope it turns out OK for her.

How did you manage to get an ARC from the publisher?

message 19: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) We were working with our representative from the publisher on another author and title and I requested this one, too.

message 26: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) It's unusual to issue two covers before the first release date. Maybe they received some feedback prompting them to make a change.

❤️ Dorsey aka Wrath Lover Reviews ❤️ That could very well be Jonetta...makes since to me.

Adis (mylunar) | 127 comments Ladies,,, I've just read Running Wild and I must admit it wasn't her strongest. I posted short review in GR. Full review next to come.

btw, I ruined by Kristen Ashley. I kept comparing their heroes.

message 29: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I wondered if it would be good, from her past books whenever she teams up with other authors, Linda Jones in particular, I haven't liked them.

Is it out Adisty or were you able to get a pre copy or whatever you call it?

message 30: by Adis (new)

Adis (mylunar) | 127 comments I got it from netgalley.

Yes, I also didn't really like her co-author books. Didn't get the howard's vibes.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments Four more days before Running Wild comes out. Is this a book you are looking forward to reading? Is anyone of you going to go out and buy it? Let me know what you think.

OMG Me TOO!!! I got to about 70% and went directly to a Kristen Ashley book. I still havent finished it...I will, eventually. But I am ADDICTED to KA (Dorsey got me hooked :)) nothing else will do!

message 35: by Dee (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments I am so glad, for the most part, that you really like the book. I was going to get it from the public library when it comes out, but if I can get a personal copy so I can read and review it I would like that better.........Thank you, Julie.

message 36: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) I'm about 30% in and I'm enjoying. It's got a slow start but an interesting premise and characters. One thing I was surprised to discover is it has a suspense element.

You can definitely tell there is a co-author. The "voice" is off a bit but so far it's okay.

You are right. The book is promoted as a Western Contemporary romance. But, in my humble opinion, it's a romantic suspense novel.
Yes, in the first part of the book, there are times it is noticeable that there are two "voices", but once I got going good, I didn't notice it so much. I don't know how on earth people co- author books. I would think it would be a challenge.

message 38: by Love love (new)

Love love | 16 comments I've just started it last night, didn't get very far but I should be able to get back to it soon. it's so dark and rainy here right now and to me it's the perfect weather for cuddling up on the couch with a blanket and a book. =D

I agree with you Amar it was a thumbs up. After I read Born Blood and the Raintree series (I liked it, but definately NOT a favorite) I was a little concerned with LH teaming up with LJ. I am so glad I was pleasantly surprised. I stayed up all night to finish the book. I can't wait for the next book of the series to come out.

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Finally finished Running Wild and I found I really liked it. I started it the last day of my winter vacation, I really got into it got half way through and got sick that night and had to stop reading. Then I went home and got sicker went to the hospital found out it was Pneumonia. After 4 days of rest and watching lots of TV (Lifetime movies), I was well enough to read without getting dizzy and was able to read the rest of the book. I felt Linda Jones's influence throughout the book especially when reading from the Heroes point of view but a lot of Linda Howard's style is in there too. I really enjoyed it, probably would have enjoyed more had I not got sick but my goal was to finish it before the Q&A with LH and LJ. Goal accomplished now I can take it easy although I was hoping to get in Shadow Woman before the Q&A as well but don't know if I can.

message 46: by Dee (last edited Jan 08, 2013 08:14PM) (new)

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 7583 comments That is so interesting, Nadia. I couldn't tell you whose influence was in there. I have read that LH had a stalker, so logically thinking I could see that experience in the book. I thought it was very well written.

I just picked up Shadow Woman from the library. The only problem is I am in the middle of Mr. Perfect for January's BOM. I am glad I am a fast reader. I will probably read a few chapters of Mr. Perfect and a few chapters of Shadow Woman. I am not very good at delaying gratification.

Eve (everf) | 815 comments Just finished Running Wild and I really enjoyed it. I found the characters well developed and writing very descriptive. Will read others in series too.
If you are looking for a gentle but exciting romance I highly recommend this!

message 48: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) I like how you stated that..."gentle but exciting romance"...fits nicely, Eve.

message 49: by Cari (new)

Cari Walker Running Wild is my first Linda Harris book I have read. I loved it! It had a great mixture of suspense and romance. I will definitly read more of her books.
