Kynndra, great job on your grades! Don't worry so much on the ACT...those tests are so...not a very good measure I'm afraid of a good student.

I took mine without studying and got a pretty decent score, so when Alison went to take hers I advised she try it first without studying...she didn't do very well, and she has good grades. What was hilarious was that she scored highest on English (her worst subject) and VERY low on math (which she's a genius in!) It can depend on so many things, too, if you have trouble concentrating that day, etc. Also some people just don't do well on those tests.

So don't get too discouraged! Those tests are only one measure to get into college, colleges look at way more than just that! But if you're unhappy with your score, study, wait a few months and try again :) That's what Alison is doing.

Sherrie | 1212 comments Nice work Kynndra! Your grades are AMAZIING! You should be proud of how well you did. Don't worry about the ACTs I'm sure you will improve your score next time if you choose to retake the test.

message 2854: by kynndra-jo (new)

kynndra-jo (charlietanghoe) Aww thanks you guys. I really appreciate all the support and encouragement. I definitely hope I'll do better on the ACT considering these tests cost 33 dollars each time (yikes!) Blah. I just want to do better than my current score. I'm sure I will, hopefully. Such silly tests .~.

This made me feel a lot better. Thank you so much, Jenny. See I did terrible in Math but I'm not great at math either so that wasn't a surprise. However.. I didn't do the best in English either, but it's my best subject? I do well in class and such but this test apparently wasn't my cup of tea.

I'll follow suite with Allison, study and retake it. Thanks again, Jenny c: and all of you! I needed the encouragement.

92-100% is an A
91-82% is a B
81-72% is a C
71-62% is a D
61-0% is an F

It can be rough sometimes, but most of the time I can manage (except for math..) I wish I had your grading system, Dan!

message 2861: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (manka23) | 47 comments I got an ARC of Harder (Caroline & West, #2) by Robin York which is the sequel to Deeper (Caroline & West, #1) by Robin York . It doesn't come out for a month! I was so thrilled to get it!

I got denied by Netgalley, which of course was heartbreaking, and then a group (New Adult Book Club) was offering copies for a r4r program and they invited you to read it through Netgalley. (TAKE THAT FOR DENYING ME I'LL GET MYSELF AN INVITATION) *some karate chopping directed at Netgalley.

Deeper (Caroline & West, #1) by Robin York is currently my favorite NA book! It was a total 5 star read for me! (You can check out my review for Deeper here if you want.) I'm so thrilled right now.

Even with our grading system our school is really competitive. I have a 93.5 average but it's nowhere near some of my friends...

message 2867: by Kritika (new)

Kritika (spidersilksnowflakes) I'm doing engineering at UCLA and all our classes are curved so the letter grades don't really go with fixed percentages. Last quarter the average on our thermodynamics final was a 47% so I got an A with a 60-something on the final!

I think my high school self would have fainted to see that I was proud of a 60-something hahaha

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 297 comments My school didn't have a straight across grading policy. The teachers decided (in high school and college/uni) so one class an A would be a 95 and another an A could be an 80% ... same school same semester.

In the "real world" its so much more cut and dry. What you do is either a pass or fail. For instance, when I cook for the residents, they don't grade me--they either like or they don't. :) When we get inspected, we either pass or fail. I like it much better than grading systems!

kynndra-jo (charlietanghoe) It's official. I am done my junior year of high school. 6 A's and 1 B. Really pleased with my grades and am relieved to be out for summer break (even though I'll probably get bored really easily).

I've got a solution to your boredom.

I get out of school on June 20th, but until then, it's chaos.
