60% finished with this, currently reading The Dunwich Horror. Such an amazing author, can't believe I never read any Lovecraft before!
The Book ThiefIt's so gorgeous, I can't put it down. I'm using it for a history assignment because my teacher's a boss. <3
Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I have a new review site at www.kimsbooklife.blogspot.com and I would love to have you stop by. Thanks and happy reading.
Before they are hanged (First Law #2) really, really good fantasy story. I'm way into fantasy right now :D
Magic, Detectives and Alternate History where the Reformation was about Magical Theory instead of science = instant love! (The cover is Completely Irrelevant)
Second installment in the Mongoliad, a collaboration between Neal Stephenson, Greg Bear and others. Epic historical fiction/fantasy set during the Mongol empire. Check it out!
I am currently rereading the Discworld series (seeing it grow before my eyes now that I know what form the characters will eventually take has been awesome). I'm up to book 10, Moving Pictures
Question:Can anyone recommend graphic novels/science fiction that focuses on the environment?
Thanks!
Ummm.... The Uglies, Pretties, Specials series by by Scott Westerfeld kinda touches on issues of the environment. They're science fiction novels.

Could be anything: a different world, a env. superhero :-)
Something like Avatar, where there are other components of the story, but bottom line, the story makes a point about the environment.

I haven't read it yet, but this seems to fit what you're asking for:

Thanks, Ashley! And it has good reviews as well.
Currently reading The Exiled Queen and the Heretic's Daughter....very different genres, I know, but I just cant read one book at a time, never have.
I just finished Shadow and Bone, and LOVED it. It's YA in the tradition of Graceling and the Hunger Games - a complex female heroine with a major obstacle to overcome. It's set in a fantasy world modeled on Russia. Some denizens of this world are "Grisha," and have powers (called the Small Science) that fall into one of three categories: the ability to summon an element, the ability to heal or harm, or the ability to fabricate. Really good - I gave it five stars.
