Good job! This gives inspiration.

Enjoyed looking over your blog, Mike.

Hanneke | 21 comments I just joined this group. Can anybody tell me what the complete 1001 list is? Is it: group shelves: all, or should updates be added, like the 2012 update?

Anyway, I tallied up 223 books so far.

The group shelves include books from all English-language editions.

Links to the various lists can be found in the top, "sticky" thread in the "1001 Books You Must Read List: 2006 * 2008 * 2010 * 2012 Versions" folder:

Thanks, Elizabeth. I will read the books in English except, of course, the ones by Dutch authors, being a Dutch native myself!

Thanks Liz! I did not realize the lists are not necessarily 1001 books or do I have that wrong?

I meant the English language 1001 Books. Apparently there are 1001 books issued in other languages that have a slightly different collection of books.

message 1011: by Luke (new)

Luke (korrick) Current total (all lists included) - 153

31 of those were read this year, and I aim to keep at it.

Dee (deinonychus) | 243 comments Hanneke wrote: "Thanks Liz! I did not realize the lists are not necessarily 1001 books or do I have that wrong?"

Each edition of the book contains exactly 1001 books, but since it has appeared in four editions with slightly different lists, there are more in total - 1305, I think.

message 1014: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Tocco (kaylatocco) | 107 comments I've read 18 of the books on the combined list- putting me at 1.3% though I'll probably have to re-read most of those because I don't remember them. I officially feel pathetic. So glad I found this list to help expand my reading horizons.

Kayla, don't beat yourself up. Everyone starts somewhere, and the list is more about the journey than the ultimate destination (at least that's what I remind myself when I feel like it will take another 6 months to go up 1%).

message 1016: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Tocco (kaylatocco) | 107 comments You make a good point. I just read so much i thought for sure i'd have more on this list knocked off. Oh well, i just got three from the library so I'll be making my way through the list no matter what. :)

Judith (jloucks) | 1202 comments I haven't updated here in awhile, so I'll encourage you all forward with my 537 total (as of today).

I know there are others ahead of me, also. I wanted all of you new starters to know that those of us working on this list for awhile do progress and survive to read from other lists as well!

Happy reading!
