Good job! This gives inspiration.
107 (original list). Will finish my 108th (Les Miserables) in a day or two. I am blogging about my 'odyssey'- http://my1001bookodyssey.com
Thank you for including me in this group!

Enjoyed looking over your blog, Mike.
I just joined this group. Can anybody tell me what the complete 1001 list is? Is it: group shelves: all, or should updates be added, like the 2012 update?Anyway, I tallied up 223 books so far.

The group shelves include books from all English-language editions.

Links to the various lists can be found in the top, "sticky" thread in the "1001 Books You Must Read List: 2006 * 2008 * 2010 * 2012 Versions" folder:

Thanks Liz! I did not realize the lists are not necessarily 1001 books or do I have that wrong?

I meant the English language 1001 Books. Apparently there are 1001 books issued in other languages that have a slightly different collection of books.
Hanneke wrote: "Thanks Liz! I did not realize the lists are not necessarily 1001 books or do I have that wrong?"Each edition of the book contains exactly 1001 books, but since it has appeared in four editions with slightly different lists, there are more in total - 1305, I think.

Aha, that's what I thought! Well, that's understood then! Thanks!
I've read 18 of the books on the combined list- putting me at 1.3% though I'll probably have to re-read most of those because I don't remember them. I officially feel pathetic. So glad I found this list to help expand my reading horizons.

So glad I found this..."Kayla, don't beat yourself up. Everyone starts somewhere, and the list is more about the journey than the ultimate destination (at least that's what I remind myself when I feel like it will take another 6 months to go up 1%).
You make a good point. I just read so much i thought for sure i'd have more on this list knocked off. Oh well, i just got three from the library so I'll be making my way through the list no matter what. :)
Reading 983 at the moment from the original list. Still finding books from the lists to read, though I read more off list.

I Read close to 40 Books on the list...But there are many excellent books that don't are on this list!!
I'm at 196 out of the combined lists, but I'm going to finish Diderot's THE NUN tonight so it'll be 197!

Yeah thanks! I finished THE NUN so now it's edging ever closer...
I think I've read just over 20? I like that this exists! It encourages me to read, I have goals :DI'm currently trying to get through the longest book on there: Clarissa.
Hi!I don'T know how many I've read, but I'm an avid reader of the classics, so I'm pretty sure I've read quite a lot of the 1001 books.

I 've only read 42. I need to get it together! There are a couple I read in high school but don't remember that well so I am not counting them eg Old Man and teh Sea
Katie wrote: "I am celebrating as I have reached 200 out of the combined lists so I have read 200 out of 1305! Hooray- bring on 300!!"Lighting a candle on your cake!
Well I have read only 8 that I can remember the dates that I read them. There are a few more but I don't have the dates read. That is from all editions. I have to keep better track of my reading.
Unfortunately the two books I own from that list of 14 are not in English, otherwise I'd have been willing to help out. Seeing someone in this group so close to the finish line is a real inspiration! :D
Just hit the 300 mark from the original 2006 edition. Never thought I would get this many done, and I can honestly see myself getting to 500 before I start running out of titles that I really want to read.

I haven't updated here in awhile, so I'll encourage you all forward with my 537 total (as of today).I know there are others ahead of me, also. I wanted all of you new starters to know that those of us working on this list for awhile do progress and survive to read from other lists as well!
Happy reading!
