Thanks to both Mandy and Amie for ..."
Who wrote this list? Just a users opinion? Or?
Just started using Goodreads and am so happy to find this group as I was reading this list anyway! I have the 2006 list and when I first had it I was on 43 but checked last night and I am now on 95. So a long way to go, especially since I am no longer reading exclusively to list! Does anyone know where I can find the updated books so I can see what I am missing?

Check out the group bookshelf (link at the top right of this page). Enjoy.

(not that I am getting obsessive-compulsive about the whole business or anything)
Ah thanks for that info. Looks like I can add another two books to my finished list but add 298 to my 'to-read' list!

The light at the end of the tunnel just keeps getting further away.......

Yes, it does. It has actually given me a renewed energy to write the bucket list of all the things I wish to do before I die, for it has become apparent that "time flies" and "life is short".

Congrats on reaching this milestone!

Aha! those triple-numbered milestones!

eleventy-one! congrats!

Big smiley face. Only 25 to go "from the original list" and I think you've read many from subsequent lists, too.

Bumping up against 40 is disconcerting at best, as I recall. But I think you'll find over 40 is better than under 40.

It's being translated into English:

The article says the first volume is supposed to be translated by October 2012, which has passed already. I couldn't find anything about a publishing date though, I guess it takes longer to translate than they thought.

That's assuming volume 1 eventually comes out in English.

So I have finished 64 books from all editions, 57 (2012)

Just hit a big milestone of 250. I actually think I can read a thousand of them.

'Classy', ha! Any list is going to be way subjective. Far too many books have been written for far too long in far too many languages for anything even remotely inclusive or comprehensive. Taste and relevance and readership are subjective and personal. I just like the challenge of reading 1001 books.
