Becky Aitchison (becky6229) | 20 comments only 79, and starting #80, but just finished 3 years of law school where I had no time to read on my own, so I'm hopeful I'll be able to put a dent in the list before long.

Tanya (aka ListObsessedReader) (listobsessed) | 108 comments I have just hit 150 of the three combined lists and with it have now read 10% from each of the centuries!

This was my main goal for the 1001 list this year so I am very happy :)... now to think what to aim for next...

Beckie Wendorf 74. I am working on reading every book that has been on any of the three editions.

Liz M While I am tracking the 1001 books I've read, I only remember to update the spreadsheet every few weeks or so and then once a year I post the number I've read here. So, in preparing for this year's post, I discovered that I have the happy coincidence of a nice, round, milestone number to report:

I have now read 400 books from the combined list.

message 711: by Geoff (new)

Geoff I just joined this group. I've read 99 so far, but I think that's mainly because I had to read a lot of Classics in high school.+

message 712: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Lindsey Well, apparently I have a ways to go, but since I just started, I don't feel too bad. I'm at 16. I plan to read 30 or so in the next year.

~Calyre~ | 103 comments 105 books read, not much :(

message 718: by Daisy (last edited Oct 27, 2011 04:29AM) (new)

Daisy (daisytown) | 3 comments I've read too little :(. The last time I checked I had read about 12 and many of thoos books I've read a long time ago. So I'm planning on starting with a blank slate and re-read the ones I allready checked 'read'. So that's 0 for me!!!

You are very brave, and I hope very young! Good luck, though. It is a worthwhile goal!

message 720: by Rory M. (new)

Rory M. | 27 comments I have definitely read 68 as of today...but I have about 27 titles that I can't remember if I read or not (embarassing!) - from the original 2006 list.

message 721: by Fae (new)

Fae I've read 165. The vast majority were for school. I'm excited to get started on the rest of the list.

message 722: by Chel (new)

Chel | 380 comments 150 from 2006 list, 130 from 2008 list, and a couple of the 11 new 2010 entries.

message 723: by [deleted user] (new)

I have read 15 of them...tee hee I guess I have a very long way to go!!!

message 724: by Bryan (new)

Bryan (bryanr) | 3 comments Just finished #126 last night. I'm trying to complete the consolidated list from all three editions (1294 books!). At my present pace, I'll need to live into my 90's, but the pursuit is worth. So many excellent authors and books on this list that I never would have come across otherwise.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Sah_dad wrote: "At my present pace, I'll need to live into my 90's, but the pursuit is worth. So many excellent authors and books on this list that I never would have come across otherwise."

And this is why I can be more relaxed and not care about reading every book on the list. I expect to live into my 90s, but I probably won't be reading close to enough list books a year to complete the list. As you say, so many excellent authors and books!

message 726: by Mikela (last edited Nov 06, 2011 03:39PM) (new)

Mikela | 378 comments It appears that I'm missing 39 books from the consolidated list...I have only 1255. Am not terribly concerned about it though as I'll never get through them all anyway.
Good news, found 38 of the missing books...can live with one less. Bad news, have only read 3 of those found...sigh.
Since I only expect to live until my sixties I just choose those that look interesting.

Chel | 380 comments Teri-lynn wrote: "I have read 15 of them...tee hee I guess I have a very long way to go!!!"

15 is alot better than none! Good job!

message 728: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea I've read 55... quite a way to go before I hit my next benchmark of 100!

message 729: by EShay (new)

EShay Fagan (eshay11) | 23 comments I've read 41. I'm excited to start plugging away though with you all! Its good to have goals in life.

205. I have used the bookshelves on the Group site which has 1290 books.

message 732: by Lisa (new)

Lisa James (sthwnd) | 352 comments According to my Goodreads 1001 Books shelf, I've either read, am currently reading, or have marked as to read for my "short list" of ones to read next, 150 so far.

message 733: by Debsp (new)

Debsp I've read 39. Only 962 more to go!

message 734: by AnaΣtaΣia (new)

AnaΣtaΣia | 4 comments out of the list:1001 books you must read before you die, I've read only 96...well, I guess it's a start..

message 735: by Maria (new)

Maria | 1 comments only 34 but i don't plan to finish it. there are some books that i have no interest in reading.

message 736: by Chel (new)

Chel | 380 comments Approx. 155

message 737: by Tara (new)

Tara A (quartinsession) | 59 comments I'm halfway done #48 of the consolidated list, so I'm looking forward to that #50 milestone! I own another 24 on my shelf/Kindle, which I've marked as TBR, and I actually get a bit annoyed (inwardly) when people give me books that aren't on the list - I think I may have an issue. :)

message 738: by Gemma (new)

Gemma | 55 comments Hehe I actually haven't purchased a non-list book in about two years Tara, I know that feeling ^_^

message 739: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (mmbirch3) | 38 comments I'm only at 52 and most of those I read in the past for other reasons. I keep getting sidetracked by non-list books :p

message 740: by [deleted user] (new)

Whoa, Chel, that's some reading.
Katherine, I'm getting to my 50 milestone.
Sad fact: Most of the read titles I mowed through during a reading frenzy I had between 12 and 17. Uni killed my reading, lol. I'm picking it back.

message 741: by Trina (new)

Trina (trina88) I've only read 12 of the 2010 list, but I own 15 others and want to read a few more.

message 742: by EShay (new)

EShay Fagan (eshay11) | 23 comments @Melissa, I also get very sidetracked by non-list books. I am a big fan of sociology and historical biographies. I have way too many books I've bought or that I want to read that I may never get to! Oh well... we're still reading good books, right?

message 743: by Bucket (new)

Bucket | 248 comments I'm at 91 total for all three lists. I'm currently reading Swann's Way, the first book of 7 in Marcel Proust's In Search of Lost Time - which counts as one novel on the 1001 books list - so I'll get to 92 eventually...

message 744: by Craig (new)

Craig | 241 comments 130 so far. Some weeks add more than others, depends if I am reading a 700+ page tome, or a short story.

message 745: by Denise (new)

Denise 189 from the combined lists. I, too, have a major problem with adding non-list books. Based on this years reading total I have figured that if (BIG IF) I do not add any further nonlist books to by TBR list and I add all the list books TBR, I will be reading for the next 18 years. Again, that assumes I add no other books to my list. I suspect I will never be short of reading material.

message 746: by Deanne (new)

Deanne | 681 comments 874, slowed down in recent months as it's harder to find some books.

message 747: by Bucket (new)

Bucket | 248 comments Deanne, are you using the 2006 version or some combination of the 3?

I have been getting so much entertainment out of watching your total climb for months now, that I'd be happy to do some digging on a few you haven't found time to research yet. You just have 127 to go, unless you plan to read everything on all 3 lists!

message 748: by Deanne (new)

Deanne | 681 comments Bucket
Using all 3 lists, so possibly I'm over 1001 for the combined list. Still finding books in all sorts of places.

message 749: by Mikela (new)

Mikela | 378 comments And the good news is that next year there will be another book with lots more revisions and even more books to keep you going.

message 750: by Deanne (new)

Deanne | 681 comments Good, I was getting worried.
