only 79, and starting #80, but just finished 3 years of law school where I had no time to read on my own, so I'm hopeful I'll be able to put a dent in the list before long.

I have just hit 150 of the three combined lists and with it have now read 10% from each of the centuries! This was my main goal for the 1001 list this year so I am very happy :)... now to think what to aim for next...
While I am tracking the 1001 books I've read, I only remember to update the spreadsheet every few weeks or so and then once a year I post the number I've read here. So, in preparing for this year's post, I discovered that I have the happy coincidence of a nice, round, milestone number to report:I have now read 400 books from the combined list.
I just joined this group. I've read 99 so far, but I think that's mainly because I had to read a lot of Classics in high school.+
Well, apparently I have a ways to go, but since I just started, I don't feel too bad. I'm at 16. I plan to read 30 or so in the next year.
I just finished number 101. I took a little break from the list this summer, but hope to reach 110 by the end of the year. Does anybody else have a milestone they are looking to reach soon?
I just joined this group and have never seen the list before, but apparently I've read 101 of them! Guess I'm off to a good start :)
Wow!! So many people have read so many off of the list, and I'm just getting started. I'm at 22. :)So far...

2. A Room With a View
3. Amsterdam
4. Atonement
5. Frankenstein
6. Interview With the Vampire
7. Jane Eyre
8. Lady Chatterley's Lover
9. Little Women
10. Lolita
11. Pride and Prejudice
12. The Bell Jar
13. The Catcher in the Rye
14. The Fall of the House of Usher
15. The Great Gatsby
16. The Hobbit
17. The Pit and the Pendulum
18. The Purloined Letter
19. The Reader
20. The Virgin Suicides
21. The Yellow Wall-Paper
22. To Kill a Mockingbird
Up next... Never Let Me Go
and hopefully, The Secret History for the December group read. It's been sitting on my book shelf for about a year now! :)
I've read too little :(. The last time I checked I had read about 12 and many of thoos books I've read a long time ago. So I'm planning on starting with a blank slate and re-read the ones I allready checked 'read'. So that's 0 for me!!!

I have definitely read 68 as of today...but I have about 27 titles that I can't remember if I read or not (embarassing!) - from the original 2006 list.
I've read 165. The vast majority were for school. I'm excited to get started on the rest of the list.
I have read 15 of them...tee hee I guess I have a very long way to go!!!
Just finished #126 last night. I'm trying to complete the consolidated list from all three editions (1294 books!). At my present pace, I'll need to live into my 90's, but the pursuit is worth. So many excellent authors and books on this list that I never would have come across otherwise.

I expect to live into my 90s, but I probably won't be reading close to enough list books a year to complete the list. As you say, so many excellent authors and books!
It appears that I'm missing 39 books from the consolidated list...I have only 1255. Am not terribly concerned about it though as I'll never get through them all anyway.Good news, found 38 of the missing books...can live with one less. Bad news, have only read 3 of those found...sigh.
Since I only expect to live until my sixties I just choose those that look interesting.
Teri-lynn wrote: "I have read 15 of them...tee hee I guess I have a very long way to go!!!"15 is alot better than none! Good job!
I've read 41. I'm excited to start plugging away though with you all! Its good to have goals in life.
Gayle wrote: "63. I am going off the 2006 edition, so possibly more!!"205. I have used the bookshelves on the Group site which has 1290 books.
According to my Goodreads 1001 Books shelf, I've either read, am currently reading, or have marked as to read for my "short list" of ones to read next, 150 so far.
out of the list:1001 books you must read before you die, I've read only 96...well, I guess it's a start..
I'm halfway done #48 of the consolidated list, so I'm looking forward to that #50 milestone! I own another 24 on my shelf/Kindle, which I've marked as TBR, and I actually get a bit annoyed (inwardly) when people give me books that aren't on the list - I think I may have an issue. :)
I'm only at 52 and most of those I read in the past for other reasons. I keep getting sidetracked by non-list books :p
Whoa, Chel, that's some reading.
Katherine, I'm getting to my 50 milestone.
Sad fact: Most of the read titles I mowed through during a reading frenzy I had between 12 and 17. Uni killed my reading, lol. I'm picking it back.

@Melissa, I also get very sidetracked by non-list books. I am a big fan of sociology and historical biographies. I have way too many books I've bought or that I want to read that I may never get to! Oh well... we're still reading good books, right?
I'm at 91 total for all three lists. I'm currently reading Swann's Way, the first book of 7 in Marcel Proust's In Search of Lost Time - which counts as one novel on the 1001 books list - so I'll get to 92 eventually...
130 so far. Some weeks add more than others, depends if I am reading a 700+ page tome, or a short story.
189 from the combined lists. I, too, have a major problem with adding non-list books. Based on this years reading total I have figured that if (BIG IF) I do not add any further nonlist books to by TBR list and I add all the list books TBR, I will be reading for the next 18 years. Again, that assumes I add no other books to my list. I suspect I will never be short of reading material.
Deanne, are you using the 2006 version or some combination of the 3?I have been getting so much entertainment out of watching your total climb for months now, that I'd be happy to do some digging on a few you haven't found time to research yet. You just have 127 to go, unless you plan to read everything on all 3 lists!
BucketUsing all 3 lists, so possibly I'm over 1001 for the combined list. Still finding books in all sorts of places.
