Looking For Another Good Read
Can you please keep promotion to a minimum. we have other areas for that. Thanks.
Cory, i think if you haven't already read the night huntress series..that you should read them.
Also the Book of the month for July is the Start of the Night Prince series. also by the same author.

Fred Saberhagen started a series back in the 70's about Dracula in the present day. I read the 3d & 4th books without reading the first two & had no problem following the series. You can find it here:
http://www.goodreads.com/series/40505...
Dracula is a pretty good guy in this series. He's a man of culture & taste who has suffered bad publicity due to ignorance & superstition.

Queen Betsy series by Mary Janice Davidson
Queen Betsy series by Mary Janice Davidson
I loved listening to the Queen Betsy series as audio books. I think Nancy Wu reads & she's fantastic. Luckily, my library has them all available for download.
oooh i never thought of audiobooks for them. i might look for them next time i'm at the library.

Chicagoland - Chloe Neil
Guild Hunter - Nalini Singh
Psy-Changeling - Nalini Singh
Black Dagger Brotherhood - J R Ward
Demonica - Larissa Ione
Lords of Deliverance - Larissa Ione
Nighthuntress - Jeaniene Frost
In no particular order (except that you should read Demonica before Lords of Deliverance or you'll miss out on a lot of back story). I enjoyed all of them.

1.Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neil
2.Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
3.House of Night by PC Cast
4.Evernight by Claudia Gray (there's 4 books: Evernight, Stargazer, Hourglass, Afterlife)
5.Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark side by Beth Fantaskey
6.Jessica Rules the Dark side by Beth Fantaskey
7.Morganville Vampires
hope you enjoy reading them as much as I do!

Try Sherrilyn Kenyon (Dark Hunter) or Kerrilyn Sparks (Love at Stakes). They both are similiar to Sands, & often see them writing little snipits on each others books. Another good series is Night Huntress by Frost, or Dragon Kin by Aiken (Aiken is Laurenston)

Sorry, Dragon Kin is not about vampires, I got carried away & stopped thinking.

Not read that I will have a look see thanx

Cory I just finished a collection of twelve short writings entitled "Let me tell you a story" and I have two other books "No Lullaby for Tommy" and "The Curse" all available at Amazon or B&N. Take a look and let me know what you think?

The All Souls Trilogy, Book 1:
, Book 2:
, and Book 3 (which comes out in July):
are amazing! This series got me into Witches and Vampires. So good!

Charles im giving you a warning. if you constantly self promote you will be asked to leave the group.

Although the main character is a witch, it has all kinds of supernatural beings in it, including a vampire.

This is purely vampire, and it's set in an alternate world where there are "Vampire Houses" that get to turn a certain amount of humans into vampires each year.
I'd say that Dead Witch Walking is "darker" than Some Girls Bite, Some Girls Bite is - at least in my opinion - more of a young adult novel.
jess, is it the character names or the book names that turn you off?
the black dagger series is very similar to the midnight breed series.... well i think it is. if you like midnight breed i would suggest the black dagger series. hmm there is another that you may be interested in but i cant remember the name of it.
Manuel, i love both of those series....I have only just started reading the hollows books( just started book 2) i'm really enjoying them so far.

i wouldn't be doing my job well if i didn't tell you such a naughty topic existed...even if you weren't looking for it now, maybe later on you or someone reading this might want to at least check it out.... and recommend any that they know of.
they do have some pretty god recs in that topic.
bdb does have some odd names, but don't let them get to you.
it's a pretty good series.... and a popular one( but don't read it for that, read it because its good).

Heya! My favourite vamp 2 vamp books of all time are Blood & Beasts by L.M. Miller and Fangs & Fur by L.M. Miller
They are part of an unfinished series but are really good books and end to an extent so that you don't just feel the urge to go murder the author because they didn't finish the book.
And I think a third is coming

Wow, 3 person POV in UF is hard to find. PNR is really easy as romance is hard to write first person. Humorous UF/PNR is a little easier.
So UF 3rd POV,
The Others starting with Written in Red by Anne Bishop
Alpha & Omega essential novella, then Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs
Here's my shelf though I haven't read many, it has been reported that they are UF.
3 person POV UF/fantasy
Humorous, well I don't have a shelf so it'll be memory. You have some of the most read mentioned in.
Argeneau Vampires, A Quick Bite by Lynsay Sands
Katie MacAlister, both the vampire and dragon's
Shelly Laurenston, Pride, Mangus Pack (though that isn't vampire per se.
Additionally
Love at Stake, Kerrelyn Sparks's How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire
Fangs for the Memories, Kathy Love
Undead and Unwed, MaryJanice Davidson
Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs, Molly Harper, Jane Jameson along with her Halfmoon Hallow series and Naked Werewolf series.
A Demon Bound; Imp Series by Debra Dunbar, a UF with a demon MC that has become very human by living as a human for so long, yet there is the demon in her. She grows and changes during the series but stays true to her personality too. One of my favorites and I'm adding it in June 2018
-These have a lot of humor too but not their top priority
Hounded, Kevin Hearne
My Life as a White Trash Zombie, Diana Rowland
A Hunger Like No Other, Kresley Cole More humor as you get into it
First Grave on the Right, Darynda Jones
Soulless, Gail Carriger
Halfway to the Grave, Jeaniene Frost
-
Also have humor but much more serious and less humorous than above.
Written in Red, Anne Bishop
Touch the Dark, Karen Chance
Mind Games, Carolyn Crane
Burn for Me, Ilona Andrews I found this really humorous in points
Magic Bites, Ilona Andrews This you have to get into to start getting the humor but it is great.
Similar to Midnight Breeds
Depends on if you want just vampires and if you are set on a underground with society, and pack type mentality. I like Cassie Palmer but it is more like a fun Anita Blake for me, still it is vampires, with society and underground. Touch the Dark

My reccomends The Illustrious (The Sublime Electricity Book #1) by Pavel Kornev

Fantasy, Paranormal, Steampunk, Dystopian, Thriller and more...
All chapters are free!
After re-reading this, I would say similar to Mid-night Breed are
of Demonica by Larissa Ione
I think it is actually better.
and
of Nightwalkers by Jacquelyn Frank is also similar
Now neither is totally Vampires though there are Vampires in each series.

I just finished
and went right on to the next one. It is a very fun, humorous UF, though it is dark noir gruesome on the light side but gory. How is it light or humorous, well, you got to read it to understand. If you read Sandman Slim then you can understand dark and humorous but that is definitely not light. This is more on the My Life as a White Trash Zombie side but that one might be gory at points but it not really dark humor and it isn't humorous throughout. A Demon Bound had me LMAO from about the 1/3 point on. Before that point, it moved a bit slowly due to world building.
It is not PNR though there is sex and a triangle of sorts. Not the normal angsty thing so not irritating IMO. The second book was really good too, not sure where it was going part of the time, but it was very fun.
Unluckily it is in 1st person though there are a couple times where it goes to another character and 3rd person.

I think this was originally a suggestion page for a member. It was from 2012. People kept up the suggestion but I don't think the member every responded so it became suggestion for those who asked. We got a lot of suggestions at the time, then it petered out again.
I might add Incryptid by Seanan McGuire for UF/PNR fans, and Soulwood by Faith Hunter for UF, it is a spin off but you don't need it to follow and understand.

Jody, if you are looking for a good read, what do you prefer most? I personally am very eclectic, but I also am very preferencial. I LOVE Historical PNR and YA PNR, even though I am in my 30s, but I also love Historical Horror and Mystery with a preference for Victorian Era. I LOVE Gail Carriger and her series.
I also love books like the Demonica Series and BDB series. It all depends on my mood.

should we just add these suggestions to the recommendations topic? and then delete this one?
the answers are priceless... But it might be one of those that has to be done to save confusion in the long run... what do people think?
