Kim | 477 comments For Literary Exploration I'll be reading Life of Pi. For the SciFi and Fantasy Book Club I'll be reading Under Heaven, The Silent Tower and Island in the Sea of Time.

I've started reading Old Man's War. On my list of books I'm hoping to get to this month are The Columbus Affair, Empire State, All You Need Is Kill, Cloud Atlas, A Canticle for Leibowitz and A Wrinkle in Time. As per usual who knows what I'll actually read and what pops up and grabs my fancy as I go.

message 5: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenlb) | 6 comments Just finishing reading Bring Up the Bodies. Next on the list is Existence, followed by The Anubis Gates (sparked by another S&L thread).

message 10: by terpkristin (new)

terpkristin | 4407 comments Been a bit of a crazy month with very little personal reading. In my off moments, I'm reading Leviathan Wakes. I read the first couple chapters and then put it down for a week or so and then forgot who was who...

Also listening to Farseed since its a quick read. It's not as good as the first book in the Seed Trilogy, which is a bummer. I'm about a third through so maybe it will get better...

message 11: by Joseph (new)

Joseph Yikes, people read so much more than I do. :P I'm a slow reader clearly.

I've lemmed A Feast for Crows, feel bad about it, hopefully I'll go back and be able to read it without a real struggle.

I shall move on to A Dance with Dragons though, hopefully that'll be a bit better. :P

message 12: by Brian (new)

Brian (kidchyron) Don't worry, Joseph - I feel like a slow reader too! For the other (RL) book club I belong to, I'm reading the historical novel Birds Without Wings. I feel like between that and Leviathan Wakes, all my reading time for July is spoken for, but if that's not the case I'm gonna try to finally finish The Vor Game (which I keep lemming through no fault of its own) and maybe, after years of looking at it sitting on the shelf, finally give Consider Phlebas a go.

The spirit is always willing. It's the eyeballs & Wernicke's Area which are weak...

message 13: by Kim (new)

Kim | 477 comments Oh and OP adding * to the front of the title doesn't make it a top link. The moderators have to edit the thread to do it properly.

message 14: by Alfredo (new)

Alfredo | 62 comments I am reading 2312 and enjoying it.

message 15: by Glaiza (new)

Glaiza | 16 comments I just started reading The Bone Doll's Twin - its pretty good so far.

For sci-fi - The Daughters of Moab - a post-apocalyptic speculative fiction book set in Australia. Intriguing but the writing style is unique so its taking me longer to get through it.

I also have my eye on the Parable of the Sower.

message 16: by Molly (new)

Molly (mollyrichmer) | 148 comments Seeing some great picks on here! I've finally gotten around to reading Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey, which has been on my list for awhile. Just finished Desperate Duchesses for Vaginal Fantasy and will be moving on to the alt pick, Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake after I finish Leviathan Wakes.

message 17: by Nick (new)

Nick (bookwyrm5000) | 25 comments I'm currently reading Throne of the Crescent Moonn by Saladin Ahmed, The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer, Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer by Novella Carpenter, and of course, Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey. I really need to learn how to speed read.

I just copied & pasted the May title to avoid typing it all out, didn't even notice * was there until it was done!

message 19: by Anthony (new)

Anthony | 16 comments My plan is something like, Redshirts, The First Mother Confessor by Terry Goodkind, and Book 2 of ASOIAF.
Just finished The Long Earth and it was great :).

message 20: by Cade (new)

Cade (dr_b-g) Just finished rereading Lord of the Rings, currently rereading Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus by Orson Scott Card (who I don't care for as a person, but love this book)...

message 21: by Ulmer Ian (new)

Ulmer Ian (eean) | 341 comments Going to the beach this week with the Mistborn boxed set. Hopefully I like it!

message 22: by bookthump (new)

bookthump | 44 comments I am trying so very hard to get through The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. I am enjoying it but it just feels like I've been reading it forever and nothing is happening. Pages and pages of dog training and record keeping. I'm sure it is all setup for something but I just can't seem to get there. I put the book on hold while I read Ready Player One but I guess now it is time to try again.

message 23: by Ian (new)

Ian Roberts | 143 comments Have just finished Leviathan Wakes and The Song of Achilles , going to move on to Calibans war. It's not strictly fantasy but the song of Achilles is fantastic, if you are a fan of greek mythology you will love it, by far the best retelling of the Iliad I have read. It is basically the story of Achilles told from Patroclus's viewpoint as a love story - started it yesterday, finished today, couldn't put it down

message 24: by kvon (new)

kvon | 563 comments I read Hide Me Among the Graves on the beach this morning--interesting contrast between bright crowded sand and foggy London night. I'm also in Endless Blue by Wes Spencer. I like her lasers better than her swords.

And my RL book club is reading Leviathan Wakes (I keep wanting to type Leviathan's Wake) for this month as well. Yea for simplified reading schedules!

message 25: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (amroth-din) | 4 comments I finished The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by Jemisin this morning and it was quite an enjoyable book. Now I'm 60 pages into The Winds of Khalakovo and I'm absolutely loving it! I hope I won't be disappointed later on, seeing how low the rating is here on GR.

After that I'm reading Who Fears Death by Okorafor, Gods of Pegana by Lord Dunsany and Shadow Prowler by Pehov.

message 27: by Kam (last edited Jul 08, 2012 05:25AM) (new)

message 29: by Amy (new)

Amy Pilkington | 104 comments I've already read this month's pick, but I'll probably be reading Caliban's War in the near future. I've bought it already.

I'm finishing up Railsea today, and plan to move onto Blackbirds next. I also started a reread of The Passage in prep for the sequel this fall, and am reading The Blind Giant on the side.

After Blackbirds, I'm not sure, but I'll probably dig deeper in my to-be-read and try to clear out some of the older stuff.

message 30: by Sam (new)

Sam Erwin | 26 comments Already finished Leviathan Wakes, so I'll probably be back to A Game of Thrones or catching up with the Wheel of Time (need to start Brandon Sanderson's books).

message 31: by David Sven (new)

David Sven (gorro) | 1582 comments Finished Caliban's War. Review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/....

Starting on The Crippled God, the last in Steven Erikson's Malazan series, which after 10 books I will count as a personal achievement to complete.

message 32: by Procrastinador (last edited Jul 02, 2012 06:51AM) (new)

Procrastinador Diletante After The President's Vampire, I'm now reading The Lies of Locke Lamora, while listening to the final book of Harry Potter.

message 33: by Laura (new)

Laura (lorcoops) I've just finished the audiobook of The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry which was brilliant. It was an excellent reading as well.

message 34: by Jim (new)

Jim (kskryptonian) | 202 comments I am reading Uplift War cause I found a sf top 100 list and it was #99.

message 35: by Preston (new)

Preston | 2 comments Currently reading 'Ready Player One'. Enjoying it so far...

message 36: by Alterjess (new)

Alterjess | 319 comments After I finish Leviathan Wakes, I'm *finally* going to read Memoirs Found in a Bathtub. I was too busy to read it back when it was an S&L pick, I'm a fan of Lem from way back (I used to read The Cyberiad over and over when I was a teenager), and I just desperately need to know what about it was so good/bad that made Lem a verb.

And by the time I'm finished with that, The Coldest War should have arrived on my Kindle.

message 37: by AndrewP (new)

AndrewP (andrewca) | 2667 comments At the moment:

Leviathan Wakes as eBook
The Way of Kings on audiobook

No dead tree book on the go at the moment, but I have about 100 to choose from:)

message 38: by Linguana (new)

Linguana | 151 comments I intend to join in with you guys in reading Leviathan Wakes but right now all my attention goes to Stephen King's Dark Tower.
I'm currently reading book 4, Wizard and Glass, and if the series keeps getting better the way it has so far, I'll probably read the rest of it also in July. *yay*

With a German book club, I'm also attacking The Last King of Scotland which is probably going to be a longer project. The movie totally scared me off... we'll see.

Loved The Dark Tower Series. Have read it through twice and intend to do so again at some stage.

message 40: by Andy (new)

Andy (andy_m) | 311 comments I caught up on the Sandman Slim series and I am waiting with baited breath for the next book that comes out next week.

I am also very late to the party with Neil Gaiman's Sandman graphic novels... Late to the party but here none the less.

Hmmm that's a lot of unrelated sandman books.

message 41: by Tamahome (new)

Tamahome | 7215 comments Walking on the thriller side. Checking out Greg Rucka's Alpha.

message 42: by Ken (new)

Ken | 141 comments 11/22/63 and The Butcher of Anderson Station: A Story of The Expanse in support of Leviathan Wakes. Pretty sure I'll be getting to Caliban's War here shortly.

message 43: by John (new)

John (agni4lisva) | 362 comments Well for starters I am going to finish off Tigana and then I am going to get into Leviathan Wakes. That shouldn't take too long

Once those are done I am not sure. Valiant is calling, but I think I will probably look to go back and complete Hyperion as I was really getting into that before life overran me with tasks

message 44: by Hope (new)

Hope (littlehope) | 82 comments I'm currently reading The Hero of Ages which os the final book in the Mistborn Trilogy Boxed Setwhich is by Brandon Sanderson. THese are some of the best books I have read in a long time.

message 45: by Erick (new)

Erick Taggart | 71 comments Just rereading Bone by Jeff Smith, and it's much denser than I remembered! Also working on Thunderstruck by Erik Larson, and I've been waiting to read the first book for Redwall, since my old college roommate would always rave about that series!

Love being able to paruse everyone's books; I have lots to catch up on!

message 46: by Alfredo (new)

Alfredo | 62 comments Finished 2312and started Redshirtslast night. I read almost half of it. Yes, it is that good. Great story, great idea, great execution. If I finish it soon, which seems likely I may start with Leviathan Wakes. But I am trying to free my reading schedule for Kill Decision so I don´t know if I´ll read the group´s book this month.

I love the narration of those books. I get them in audio just to hear the narrator do Oberon's voice.
