Katie (ktlynnyates) | 4 comments Ok, so I remember very little about this book. I thought I owned it, but I have searched my bookshelves high and low and have not been able to find it. I believe I read it in the early 2000's ( Around 2002 to 2005, I know broad time line). I believe it was a Young Adult book, but on the upper end of Young Adult because I remember some parts that should not be considered young adult.

So what I remember about the book the most was that everyone had a birthmark, which was different depending on when you were born(can't remember if it had to do with the time of day, the month of the actual day). I believe their birthmarks designated what they were suppose to do(i.e rule, be in the army, etc.). There was a girl as one of the main protagonists. And one of the parts that I remember not being very child friendly was one of the boy protagonists was in an army at some point in the book all the boy trainee soldiers were given puppies and told to take care of them. Then the solider leaders made them kill the puppies after they were attached to them.

That's really all I remember of the book, like I said, very little. This was back when I was reading 2-3 books a week, so I hope I didn't accidentally combine 2 in my memories. If anyone can help me with this that would be a miracle!!

Dawn | 220 comments This series starts with The Glasswrights Apprentice. I think the one you are after is the third or fourth. Thats where the kids/army/birthmark one is

Cheryl (cherylllr) I'm shelving this as adult, because I've seen it in the adult section of bookstores. (My ex-husband loved the series.)
