I think a Day of The Dead Theme would be cool for October. We could do zombies, vampires, murder, etc. Or since it is a Hispanic Holiday we could do staring a Spanish person or takes place in a Spanish speaking country or state. We could do something with candy or sweets in the tittle of the books. There would be a lot to work with and quite a few creative ways it could go. I think it could be so much fun!!! What do you all think?

still doing September?, Sept. 19, don't forget t' encourage ye mateys t' participate in International Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Niel Diamond once did a song called 'September Morn'. It's not a great song by not a great artist. But it deserves to be celebrated as much as the next 70's schlock. So in honor of September Morn, we should read a book relating to a Niel Diamond song. With hits such as 'Forever in Blue Jean', 'Coming to America', and of course 'Sweet Caroline' we could come up with related books for ages!
Hangs head in hands and laments the lack of a sarcasm font. I'm only hoping you are laughing that I thought you might possibly be serious Kim.
LOL...I knew you couldn't be serious about ND. However, it's a good idea if you use another musician/group, like Skynyrd, the Doors, etc. for that Box Set Challenge.
I don't know if someone already said this but do a challenge with the toys people grow up with
Like Barbie-read a book about where the charatcer with in fashion

I am not sure if this has been suggested before, but how about a Rainbow Challange? So that each book cover has to be each colour of the rainbow.
Thanks, I was at work diligently tapping away *cough yeahrright cough* and it struck me as I was glancing *cough daydreaming cough* out the window and saw a rainbow! : )

PS
I missed a lot of the talk
Well...Sign of the Zodiac is Libra, symbol is scales, so read a book about a lawyer or judge, a legal thriller, etc.
Halloween - Read a horror novel, or a book about witches, vampires or ghosts (easy enough for this group!)

Columbus Day - Read a book set in Spain or about someone from Spain; read a book set on a ship or about an expedition.
Sandy has good ones, but here are a couple more....- October has Fallen Firefighters Memorial and Fire Prevention week: could have main character in a 911 type services (fire, police, emt)
- Teen Read Week is the 17th-23rd: Read a Young Adult fiction
I have a few:- Women's Small Business Month - Woman that owns a small business
- Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Pink cover or with a character that suffers from cancer
- Teen Read Week (Oct. 17-23) - Read a YA book
- Oktoberfest - Character works in a bar (could be set in Germany too but we just had that!)
- National Book Month - Character is a writer or in publishing
