Of course MountainKat! Those devices fit in my purse so much better than a hardcover copy. And are great in line at the grocery..."

Noura (nouraariz) Hi all! Just wondering...anyone out there favouring digital books over real book books?

I have no storage space anymore....have to resort to e-books......and they're easy to take everywhere too!!!

message 2307: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31790 comments Welcome Fiza! The hard part is when you are thinking about the books when you should be sleeping!

Hi Noura, I think a lot of here prefer ebooks - for the storage reason, the travel reason, the ease of purchase and instant gratification reasons... I don't know if there are topics started about this already, but you will probably get more conversation in a new or different thread!

Jane (PS) | 24343 comments Welcome Fiza! I love noodles and PNR as well :)

message 2323: by Lesley (new)

Lesley Ellis | 9 comments Birthday: 18th May
Favorite Color: Green
Favorite Food: Pasta
First Romance Novel Read (that you can remember): Twilight
Favorite Romance Genre: Suspense
Finished the line: I know I'm a book addict because.... Other than my 'mini library' (two 6ft bookcases full to the max - shelves double stacked) I also have an iPad, which only has about 6 apps on it. The rest of it is full (literally) of books.

message 2324: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31790 comments Hi again Leslie! ~waves~ And your addiction sounds like it will fit right in here!

message 2325: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24343 comments :) clogging up my computer with books is a speciality of mine as well Lesley. I bought a separate hard drive to make sure I didn't lose any in case my computer crashed - now I just need to remember to backup regularly!

message 2326: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31790 comments Haha Jane, I have an automated back-up for my computer, but not enough space for audiobooks! They are on a 'storage' drive. I say that because I have a back-up for the storage, since what was my back-up drive died on me once! That caused me so much work to recreate my audiobook library! I had them all, but not formatted in a way that I liked so I had to do that all over again.

message 2327: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24343 comments I just had to go through reimporting into a new iTunes set-up on my old computer - deauthorising one audio library, and setting up all the bells & whistles on the new one; all trial and error! But succeeded in the end and only reimported the books that I liked, so did a bit of clean up as well :)

message 2328: by Lesley (new)

Lesley Ellis | 9 comments Ugh I have far too many books on my computer, lol! I did have them backed up on an external hd, but I think it's dying - it's taking forever to load/open when I plug it in. This isn't the first hd I have lost, so don't really want to waste money on getting another. So, I put them back onto my computer. I am in the process of organising them, and at the same time emailing them to myself too - that way if my hd does die then I don't lose them. And I'm saving some space on my computer lol.

message 2329: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31790 comments Have you tried calibre? I think it is great to keep my ebooks organized! You also might want to consider one of the many different cloud type storages - a lot of them are free if you don't use too much space and ebooks don't take that much space.

message 2330: by Lesley (new)

Lesley Ellis | 9 comments I don't really know how to use calibre to be honest. It all looks too complicated to me lol. So I just figured I'd sort through them all 'by hand' into folders by author, and email each author to myself.
The thing that's taking up so much of my time at the moment is I'm writing out a list of the books by each of my favourite authors, so I can put into a file - I don't always get onto my computer to see what I have, or what order they need to be read in. I sometimes wish I didn't like so many! :p

message 2331: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24343 comments I use Calibre as well - it is really just 'follow your nose' stuff. I have two libraries and setting up the second one took a bit of thought, but it worked in the end :) so easy to search for a book or author.

message 2332: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31790 comments I agree, it makes searching so easy and sorting too! You can do a little with it or do a lot as far as how much info you put in and how you use it. Not sure it this is allowed, but if you go to a website called mobilread there is a section for calibre and lots of help there. It might be worth a little time to see if it would make your life a bit easier.

message 2333: by Lesley (new)

Lesley Ellis | 9 comments I think I will have to research on it then, figure out how it works. It's worth a go.

message 2334: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24343 comments It's free, so no downside really :)
