Hi Mountain Kat,

Book stores are very dangerous indeed. I am not to be trusted in a bookstore with a credit card!

message 2416: by Ebony (new)

Ebony | 16 comments Hi, My name is Ebony. I've been on goodreads for a while but just now starting to interact with other people, i basically just used it to keep up with my books. Now im at the point where i force my mother to listen to me rant on about my books, so i figured why not discuss them with people who would really enjoy listening to me carry on. lol

Birthday: July 29th

Favorite Color: Red

Favorite Food: Macaroni.
First Romance Novel Read (that you can remember): im sorry to be such a cliche, but 50 shades is what made me actually start reading.
Finished the line: I know I'm a book addict because... i refuse to stop reading until my eyes bleed. i typically dont go to sleep at night until about an hour before my alarm clocks goes off in the morning for me to start my day!

message 2417: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24340 comments Good on you Ebony re the cliche :) Anything that gets you back to reading is good in my opinion - doesn't really matter the content. And I know the feeling of reading well past my bedtime, but I just can't bounce back from that anymore - I'm now a 'go to bed earlier and wake up early and read' person :D

message 2418: by Ebony (new)

Ebony | 16 comments I wish I could stop reading at least before midnight. Smh. It's 3:34am where I'm at and I just finished a book. So I guess I'll go to sleep now since I have nothing left to read. At least I'll get a good 2 hrs of sleep in, instead of my usual 1 hour. Then I'll pick back up with a new book tomorrow!

message 2419: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31777 comments Yikes Ebony! I just can't do that anymore - sleep is too important. Hope they are all good books at least!

message 2420: by Ebony (new)

Ebony | 16 comments I get too emotionally wrapped up in them. It's becoming an issue. Lol. I have to figure out how to reassure myself that they are just characters and that I don't actually know these people! But yes, majority of them are good books. I've came across a few that had me questioning why did I waste my time.

Oh Ebony, that sounds just like me! I can hardly bring myself to stop reading once I start and way way too often it's after 2:00 in the morning - with the alarm set for 5:00-ish. The hubby thinks I'm crazy (I probably am) but I tell him a good book is like a movie - would he stop watching a movie in the middle of it? He can't answer that, just gives that look...Anyway, I'm with you. I get way too invested in the characters and just HAVE TO KNOW what happens!

message 2423: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

Well, romance of course! I don't know that I have a favorite sub-genre. Probably contemporary or good romantic suspense. Although lately, I've felt the pull of erotica too. Top 5 books... Not sure I could do that - I consume so many, it's hard to say what's a favorite. But if forced to say, I'd have to give you authors and I'd go straight to Jennifer Crusie - especially some of her original stuff. Her partnered books I'm not as crazy about. Also, Lori Foster, Lora Leigh and Lorelie James. And I swear the variations on 'laura' have nothing to do with my name. Really. There's also Rachel Gibson, Susan Mallery, Julie James, Jill Shalvis, Gena Showalter. I better stop now. That's way more than 5... But this group has opened me up to a lot if Indie authors too, so keep an open mind during the Pick it for Me and/or Meet n Greet challengs.

Oh wow! yea, you just gave me a ton of research to do while I'm sitting here at work! I'm going to look into all of these authors. I just wanted to find some new books. I'm such a hopeless romantic, but its hard to find a book that really tugs at my emotions. I'm always looking for a good tear jerker! I really like stand-alone books but I have trouble finding some that are more than 300 pages. that's why I asked for your top 5! any suggestions on actual books? I know it's kind of hard.

message 2433: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24340 comments Hey everyone! Welcome to the group :)

...MM historicals - I think they are my least fav in the MM sub-genre Alissa, so I'm glad they have fans ;) I love the contemporary MM stuff since I really don't have much luck with the MF contemporary - I generally struggle with those MF plots and actions!

Lizzy - I LOVE curling up with a book at night! If only I could stay up longer and read. Unfortunately I fall asleep all too soon ;)

Alissa - I also like to wake up and read for an hour or so before I get up... I have more luck in the morning than evening.
