You will have to know the e-mail address of whomever you lend a book. Usually the loan period is limited to two weeks. I often put a Private Note to myself on GoodReads as to who has offered the book to me or who I have promised it to so that I'm ready when the time comes.
Thanks Jenny! I just tried to open my kindle for pc and it wouldn't open. I appreciate your help. And Lisa Kay, I never thought about using notes before, but I can think of lots of reasons to do it. You are so helpful!!
This is a silly question because the notes are called "private" but is it 100% certain that others cannot see the notes that appear on my review. The reason I ask is that I put spoilers in my private notes and I wouldn't want to ruin the book for anyone who hasn't read it but comes across my review.
I'm pretty sure it is, Lauren. I've never seen anyone's private notes appear. Almost all my books (read) have private notes, as I try to indicated the challenges in which I used them. Have you seen any?

There are all sorts of reasons to add a Private Note to a book. I often put a Private Note to myself on GoodReads as to who has offered the book to me or who I have promised it to so that I'm ready when the time comes. Here's how:
◈ First, read and have an understanding of how to do Shelf-Setting: visible columns
(Screen #1, yellow arrow.)
◈ Second, click on the "notes" box as a visible column selection and the column will
appear. (Screen #1, blue arrows.)
◈ Third, click "edit" in the notes column next to the desired book, and type your
Private Note. (Screen #1, green arrows.)
◈ Forth, be sure to save the note!
◈ Hit "Refresh" to see your note in the column.
◈ By the way, if you desire the "notes" option to appear on a certain bookshelf every
time you look at it, "save the current setting." (Screen #1, orange arrow.)

◈ This is how your Private Note will appear when when you view you book. (Screen #2, blue arrow.)
Screen #2
◈ You can also see it when you type up your review. Or you can add the note here
as well. Goes without saying, it will appear under 'visible columns' if you do so.
