OH MY GOSH!! I hope you don't think I was complaining! I just thought it was great that everyone was on it! We are pretty much up to date, so it's no biggie! If we had 4 stamps, thats one thing, but we're doing great!!

Nope. I didn't think that, Amy. ☺ I was just admiring it.

That is a very good choice Jessica. Its one of my favorite in that series.

This is the second book in this series, & because I waited so long to read it, I got confused.
This is the resurected from death story of the Black dragon Baltic & his half dragon mate Ysolde who are at war with the other dragon septs (Blue, Red, Green & Silver). Really it's by name only & all the wives are friends.
Baltic Is accused of dkilling a mass of blue dragons & other crimes he didn't commit & Ysolde has 3 things she has to do for 3 different people to restore her magic, get Baltic back in the wyr (dragon terms??) And figure out how to get the first dragon back his son's honor.
It's a bunch og back & forth & you definitely have to read the first book to get it all. I just really wish I could marry a dragon!

For my Series Catch-up book, I'll read (or listen to - if I splurge on an audio) of

This was 360 pages of fast read & I couldn't skip a thing except other things outside reading this book. I spent a whole Saturday night (Sunday Morning Aussie time!)reading it!
This book made up for the last book Lynsay Sands put out there. This book was amazing & made me cry once! Although I will throw in that Jeanne Luise is a little too forgiving at the accident at the end.
Geez. I'm not even sure where to start. I guess to sum it up, Paul who works at Argeneau lost his wife to a drunk driver & recently found out his 5 year old daughter has a teminal brain tumor. He kidnaps Jeanne to convince her to change his daughter to a Vamp. Jeane Luise figures out within a day that he is her Life Mate. The chain of change sounds easy, but it isn't. AND in this book, there is an answer & explanation for everything you might decide you have a better solution to.
SOOOO... This was about the top if not at least one of her top 3 books.

Harry Dresden Fan Art ~ by thegryph (Nicole Cardiff)

★★★★½ I love Harry Dresden. I love his duster, his blasting rod and staff, his shield bracelet and force rings, his mother’s silver pentacle amulet, and the way he keeps upgrading these - just like we all do with the technological toys that make our life easier. I love the way he talks about magic, and I love the way he combines elements to create his magic. I know, I should quit gushing and get to the storyline, but he’s just so loveable, even though he’s a cynical, irascible, wizard turned private investigator. This resident ‘anti-hero’ who occasionally works for Lieutenant Karrin Murphy, Director of Special Investigation, Chicago, Illinois, has wormed his way into my heart.
Man-oh-man, does Harry get into trouble in this action-packed case! In Fool Moon Harry starts investigating werewolf-related killings, meeting a young group of them called the Alphas. Alas, he also encounters the FBI. Unfortunately (or is it fortunately? as he appears at some opportune times), because some of the killings are his men or associates, head crime boss “Gentleman” Johnnie Marcone is back. He’s still trying to woo – if you can call it that – Harry into working for him.
Again, I enjoyed Harry’s alchemical potions – which are typically of “one-shot” duration; they are always fun. I love that after making them, Harry puts them in plastic sports bottles. He makes them with the help of Bob, an über intelligent – but lecherous – air spirit inhabiting a human skull in Harry’s sub-basement laboratory.
Bob also tells Harry about the “loup garou.”
“Loup-garou,” Bob said. “Or that was the name Etienne the Enchanter used for them, before he got burned at the stake. The loup-garou are the major monsters, Harry. Someone has cursed them to become a wolflike demon, and usually at the full moon. That someone’s got to be really powerful, too, like a major heavyweight sorcerer or a demon lord or one of the Faerie Queens. When the full moon comes, they transform into a monster, go on a killing spree, and slaughter everything they come across until the moon sets or the sun rises.”It is always interesting to see which one of the wizard’s numerous contacts from the various groups within the Nevernever Harry is going to use; in this one he contacts Chaunzaggoroth – or “Chauncy” – an untrustworthy demon informant who also gives Harry some tantalizing backstory on Harry’s mother.
I suspected who was doing the killings, but not all of it. However, a surprise for me, and one of the funniest parts, involves Murphy – who is still pissed at Harry from what happened in Storm Front. While Harry’s relationship with Susan Rodriguez, a reporter, is heating up, I am still secretly rooting for something to happen between Harry and Murphy. I got a big kick out of how, (view spoiler) . I wanted nothing more than their misunderstanding cleared up, and instead it just gets more muddled; I didn’t think I could find humor in such an upsetting scene, but it was a hilarious high-light.
All in all, an enjoyable read! I strongly recommend this Urban Fantasy series.

Lynsay Sands is one of the only authors I have stuck with no mater what the series. She has tons of historical too & all of them are sooo funny! It was an accident that I started her Argeneau series, but it was really good. There were only 3 books out of that series that I hated & another was so so (the last book was bad!) She made up for it though!

Finally finished this whopper of a book! On the whole, I liked it but was disappointed to find that it was basically an adult, better written version of Twilight with a bit of witch, yoga, and history thrown in. I wanted it to be so much more, but I drew so many similarities between this and Twilight that I felt like I had read the same story before.

Unholy Magic is the 2nd in the Downside Ghosts series and boy, is it emotionally gripping and extremely intense.
Chess is a debunker for the Church who exterminates ghosts and more frequently, busts those who are set up fake hauntings for financial gain. She's also an extremely drug dependent, which helps her deal with the scars that early life experiences have caused.
In this book, we see her making horrible decisions that lead her to drive a divide between her personal relationships and the only person she really cares about, Terrible. Somehow, she's found herself wedged in between two opposing gang members, Terrible and Lex. It's evident throughout the book that she doesn't know how to deal when she actually cares about someone.
Chess is such an interesting, complex character. We find out the reasons why she is so dependent on drugs and see her hit rock bottom in this book. Somehow, you just can't help but sympathise with her and wish that she will one day find solace in something that isn't drugs. Stacia Kane has a way with conveying heavy emotions throughout the book. This is not an easy read, with so many dark themes involving sex, drugs, and murder.
The world of Downside is so corrupt, dark and gritty. The crimes performed within this book are not for the squeamish, involving mutilated bodies, necrophilia, and the like. Once you become adjusted to the world of Downside, you'll be in for a heck of a ride as you follow Chess on her journey of debunking and ghost-busting.

★★★★½ For those of you who know me, you realize I’m a big sucker for amnesia storylines. As I am a nurse, I realize how implausible they are; nevertheless, I still love to roll my eyes and laugh over them. However, this one is a bit different because Ms. Singh has set it in the fantastic futuristic world of her Psy-changeling series.
The amnesia is no laughing matter; Ekaterina – or Katya – was presumed dead in the Nebraska lab explosion ordered by Ming LeBon. For over five months she has been starved, tortured, beaten, and psychically raped. Tossed on Dev’s New York doorstep, now she is left with only nightmares that mercifully disappear in the daylight. We have a bit of a psychologically thriller this time around, as Katya has a message – or compulsion – implanted into her brain to discover all she can about the Shine Foundation, its director Devraj Santos, and the Forgotten. In other words, she is a “sleeper-agent-assassin.” I didn’t think I’d like this book as much as I did, because I wasn’t looking forward to reliving the mind rape Katya experienced; but, Katya won me over. I love to see fragile women find an undiscovered reservoir of strength and self-sufficiency.
Dev is hard, loyal, protective and yummy! Some of his loved ones worry that he will become as cold as the metal and machines over which he controls. However, let me assure you: the 30th of August is Toasted Marshmallow Day and for a challenge I needed a hero who is a ‘closet marshmallow’ (hard on the outside, but with a soft gooey center!). Dev – with his fierce temper and predator’s heart– fits the bill perfectly; his only weakness is his need to protect the innocent.
And soft, gentle, innocent, Katya is the perfect woman to thaw – or toast – his icy, alpha-male control. Is Dev and Katya’s relationship a bit of Stockholm Syndrome? Hmm. Good question. If it is, Ms. Singh certainly turns it on its ear, flips it over backwards, and kicks it up several notches.
Did I miss the Changelings as one of the main characters in this love story? Not as much as I thought I would. Plus, I really wanted to learn more about the Forgotten, those descendants of Psy who, instead of eschewing emotions, dropped out of the PsyNet and intermingled with Humans and other species. With regards to ‘attention grabbing’ ability, does this fraction hold its own against the Changelings and the Psy? Definitely. Which is no small feat.
I’d love to see Ms. Singh’s outline for this series. Her story arc is detailed and well plotted. (I think my suspicions as to who the Ghost is are spot on; but, I’ll have to wait and see.)
Oh. Did I cry? Yup. Big surprise there. I didn’t think Nalini Singh could do that when my GoodReads friends warned me it would happen; I thought forewarned would make me immune. Ha!
Of course, what Katya did toward the end of the book had me sitting on the edge of my seat! Eep!
I read this one in paperback instead of indulging in the audio book. (I’m being good, as I’m remodeling.) Nevertheless, I have it on my audible.com ‘wish-list’ since it is read by the wonderful Angela Dawe.

★★★★☆ (This is a review of the audiobook.) Well, I waited awhile to pick up the second in the Guild Hunter series and now I remember all the reasons why I did. Ms. Singh has created a brutal world of angels, filled with a little too much blood, violence and cruelty for my tastes. Still, this author is original in her world-building, writes amazing secondary characters, and is talented in her plot twists. Her take on Angels and Vampires is fascinating. I couldn’t help myself; I loved it.
My life is crazy right now and I am extremely thankful for my iPod; it is the only way I’m getting any “reading” done (not to mention keeping me sane!). This one is read by Justine Eyre, who I would say is an acquired taste. I don’t know how to describe her voice other than to say it is ‘different.’ But I would definitely recommend you give her a try. This is the second book I’ve heard her read, and she has certainly grown on me.
Forbidden City, China
[image error]
There is a lot going on from the ‘get-go’ in this installment: an invitation to a ball in the Forbidden City; a pendant imprinted with the archangel Lijuan’s seal; the mysterious death of a vampire; talk of an angel war; Elena learning how to continue to kick-ass with her newly acquired (black!) angel wings; Michaela apparently developing a soft spot for children because she lost on; a flood of childhood memories for Elena; Elena wanting to go back to work for the Guild; political intrigue and rules among supernatural tyrants; devolution of angels; not to mention a whole hell of a lot of Guild daggers floating around!
Then there’s Raphael afraid of becoming cruel, emotionless, and power thirsty? Hmm… I thought he already was? I mean, I’ve always been “iffy” about his “good guy” status since the Guild Hunter prequel, Angels' Pawn. He certainly falls into the ‘Dangerous Heroes’ category; he might even be their leader. Nevertheless, through it all, I do believe he cares for Elena. Is it a romance? Well, more like an Urban Fantasy Adventure Dark Romance. Notice the ‘Romance’ comes last.
