Steph (angel4492) | 32726 comments ((((Regina)))) So cute. :D Well .... I'm flip-flopping on the start date for R6. The holidays are always a hard time to run a challenge like this, so maybe sooner rather than later? Dunno. I'll let everyone know as soon as we have a go-date.

I need to make a decision here soon or else we'll be running the chance of creeping into Turkey & Fat-Man-in-Red-Suit day. (Can't say the official holiday names b/c I refuse to believe how close they are ... .must.slow.down.time)

AH | 2271 comments Here's an idea, Steph - Don't call any shelves on US Thanksgiving weekend and the week between Christmas and New Years. Those would be catch up weeks.

Hope you can join us for R6, Sandy.

Sandra wrote: "That or get your own personal big blue box that is bigger on the inside. ROFL"

I'm guessing a Doctor reference?

AH wrote: "Here's an idea, Steph - Don't call any shelves on US Thanksgiving weekend and the week between Christmas and New Years. Those would be catch up weeks."

That is a good idea, AH. I'm still contemplating when to start, but should we start later and run into the holiday season we could take periodic pauses. I'll keep that idea in mind. If we do plan for something like that, I'll make it clear what dates we'll pause before the round starts. >;)

message 809: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25912 comments Definitely a Dr ref. Tardis = time machine ;DDDD

Pausing at those times is a good idea if we need to.

Steph (angel4492) | 32726 comments Thought so :)

Definitely!

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 400 comments Sandy wrote: "I am going to check this thread religiously for start of R6. I'm still bummed about missing out in round 5!"

I'm already looking forward to Round 6! I had to drop out of Round 5 due to stuff that was happening to me outside the internet. This month, I just started to do something about it and hopefully everything will be all or almost all right by the time Round 6 comes around!

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments For next round of BIngo, in order to get a nice notification, maybe the Shelf Announcements thread could get individual posts? The little red "new" would show up and instead of a "Bingo R6: discussion" thread notification showing up which could mean any comment, the notification would clearly say was shelf announcement.

message 816: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 2883 comments I think the system is fine the way it is, personally. For me, and it is all subjective, part of the fun is checking in, participating in the disucssions and wondering -- is this the post? :D And it pretty much always comes at the same time.

This is from Round 4 Discussion thread

Something New in R4
Personal shelves added

In addition to linking to Goodreads shelves, I've created five "personal shelves" for R4. For these shelves, players will be able to use their personal TBR shelves to choose a book.

Personal Shelves & Rules:
✯ Reader's Choice ~ choose any book, your choice (in series, stand-alone, any genre)
✯ New2You: Author ~ choose a book written by an author you have never read; include w/review: if you will read add'l bks by this author in the future
✯ New2You: Series ~ choose a book (#1) in a series you have not yet started; include w/review: if you will read add'l bks in this series in the future
✯ Favorite Series ~ choose a book from one of your favorite series
✯ Favorite Supe ~ choose a book with one (or more) of your favorite types of supernaturals (ie: vampire, shifter, dragon, etc.); include w/review: which supe(s) were in your chosen book

NOTE: You may choose a book either currently on your GR shelves or on-hand, but not added to GR. You will have to add it once you're "currently reading" it.

It's Real????? Chocolate and Wine together in one happy glass??? Must go find it.

message 830: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 1714 comments It's real. Here in Canada it's about 12 to 15 loonies a bottle. Couple of different ones. One is creamy the other is red wine with chocolate after note.

AH you gotta find some it is awesome!!!!!

message 831: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments They have it in Canada? Awesome. (probably not in my part of the Great White North - our wine stores are a bit snooty).

message 832: by Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) (last edited Aug 31, 2012 05:38PM) (new)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Pinnacle and smirnoff brands of vodkas do a chocolate flavor plus yummy marshmallow and other flavors. Helluva Brandy Alexander flavor if you mix right. My favorite chocolate martini recipe is "chocolate whipped cake" here: http://www.pinnaclevodka.com/assets/p...

And pretty perfect when you are wading thru certain book phrases you have turned into drinking games like how often Laurell K. Hamilton mentions a guy's eyes or Jennifer Skully has someone admire heroine's rear-end (double shot when admires her own).

message 836: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 695 comments Chocolate wine who knew? I gotta get me some of that!

message 837: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments No Safeway here. We get Loblaws and I am pretty sure they don't carry chocolate wine, just bad tanker wine.

@Jackie - I know - doesn't it sound delicious?

message 842: by Deidre (new)

Deidre (AlaskaReader) | 267 comments I had a dream, Steph is calling a book, not a shelf. The book is The Riverside Shakespeare by William Shakespeare
so better get started before it is too late! It is over 2000 pages, and I don't even own it. But I'm sure my dream is accurate because 3 people have tagged the book as fantasy...

LOL, and it would happen to be a winning one for final stamp (whew! glad there was not a BINGO card stamp that said "over 900 pages" or something) as I suspect we've all picked out our possible reads for the potential winners and actually looked at page numbers to narrow it down!

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Shelf! Shelf! Shelf!...come 'on PARANORMAL ROMANCE shelf!

message 848: by Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) (last edited Sep 01, 2012 01:12PM) (new)

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 2179 comments Nah, Paranormal Romance! Shelf! Shelf! Shelf!

New Series. Reader's Choice or Male Lead really makes it a race to the point the team who gets the goodreads "over capacity" error message too much could lose.

So everyone should join team 16 in wishing for PNR!

If anyone misplaced the link to see all the cards it's at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/l...

message 849: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Nope: Team 11 wants Dragons. We're the only one it gives a win to.
