I just started reading The Woman Who Married a Cloud: Collected Stories by Jonathan Carroll. I've read a few novels by this author, but this is my first experience with his short fiction. Very good, so far.

I've been reading
. Interesting ideas. Not much of a story -- the novel reads like this is an outline for a novel in a new multiverse situation, but without the outline filled in with an actual story.
Found my self with some spare time on my hands this month, so managed to finish up War of Honor by David Weber and then moved on to How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe by Charles Yu. Finally got around to finishing The Scar by China Miéville and indulged in a couple of rereads with Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut and Childhood's End by Arthur C. Clarke.Excellent reading month for me, so going to push my luck and have a go at The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi. Heard excellent things about this one, only read one short story by this chap, think it might be connected, so been looking forward to this.
I finally read the 2 "side reads" (Changer of Worlds and Crown of Slaves and ready to start At All Costs.
Kathi wrote: "I finally read the 2 "side reads" (Changer of Worlds and Crown of Slaves and ready to start At All Costs."Good going Kathi. Afraid I saw the side reads and then realised At all Costs was nearly 900 pages long. I'm a slow reader and this series has nearly monopolized my reading this year so I'm going to bow out for while and read some other group books. Promise to try to return to the series as soon as I can.
I just read The Haunted Vagina, my first bizzaro book. I was pleasantly surprised. The name kind of squigged me out, but several friends read & liked it. It's short, so I tried it & wound up giving it 4 stars, much to t my surprise. The more I thought about it, the more I liked it, although I wouldn't want a steady diet of such writing. My review is here:

still working on King Hereafter, though it's slow going. I'm alternating with chapters of Bossypants, which I'm reading (on my brand new kindle, which I thought I'd never buy and am enjoying much more than I thought I would!) for my book group. Very funny!
Just finished reading The Hollow City by Dan Wells (review on Tor.com soon), and right now trying to decide whether I want to pick up the new K.J. Parker novel Sharps, or read some more Jonathan Carroll short stories first instead.

Good going Kathi. "
Well, I ended up deciding that since I'd already put off At All Costs this long, I may as well read The Shadow of Saganami, since it also comes before At All Costs in the overall order and since I already had it on my iPad from the Baen Free Library. So I'm into that now, to be followed (finally) by At All Costs. Then a break from the Honorverse for at least one book while I go back to the Wheel of Time series. I think I'm 2 books behind in that group read in another GoodReads group.

I've read Forever, Half Blood Blues, Let the Right One In, The Dragon Keeper, Blackout and The Sisters Brothers. Now I'm reading The Eye of the World which I'm enjoying so far.
