I assume that they're either so high minded they don't notice, or just spend their lives surrounded by them and so are totally blase about them

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments High minded from using laudanum?

Jim | 21813 comments a hard working and industrious young fellow!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments And he looks so sweet and innocent there!

message 4466: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments I love Mutt. I'll not have a word spoken against him. ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments How many bottles has he sold you?

message 4468: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I've often wondered just what Mutt becomes when he grows up yet somehow I cannot imagine him being older than about 12

Jim | 21813 comments :-)

message 4479: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Just to say that some of the collected wit and wisdom of Tallis Steelyard is now available for your delectation and delight

Whilst it is a collection of blog posts, some of them were posted elsewhere on other people's blogs and some stuff has been written specially.
Not only that but it's been through an editor who insisted that there ought to be an element of veracity to some of the stories.

But still Tallis Steelyard, shower me with gold and other stories.

Also available at https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tallis-Steel...

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Veracity? Pardon me whilst I go and search for a dictionary. It is a term with which I am unfamiliar.

message 4481: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I have been attempting to get truth out of a poet

Apparently it can be done, I have been assured that in an infinite universe everything is possible

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments 'Truth is beauty, and therefore beuaty is truth'. Douglas adams.

message 4483: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments absolutely, but so far I've not had to give orders for anybody to be executed

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments What kind of tyrant are you? Any good one would do six executions before breakfast!

message 4485: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I'm rather more interested in selling books to the survivors, and rather hope to optimise the number of survivors ;-)

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments How pragmatic of you. I fear you aren't cut out to be a tyrant.

message 4487: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments The only advantage I can see is that I'd suddenly make the best seller lists by putting my books on the curriculum

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Maybe you can work out a deal with Lord Vetinari.

message 4489: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments Gingerlily - Mistress Lantern wrote: "Maybe you can work out a deal with Lord Vetinari."

I suspect that you just take the deal he offers you

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Even Tallis might struggle there...

message 4491: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments I'm absolutely certain

message 4492: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth White | 1761 comments However, there is always Mutt versus Vetinari. Although on second thoughts, it may qualify as the world's unholiest alliance!

message 4493: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21813 comments the irresistible force meets the immovable object :-)

I suspect that Lord Vetinari is far too wise to tackle small boys, he'd most likely apprentice them

message 4494: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments He'd give Mutt to Most Limpwick to mentor.

message 4495: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Not Less Limpwick?

message 4496: by Jim (new)
