Still it's given me an idea
I'm getting the stories together for a blog tour :-)

I was well made up :-)
"So many ingredients to enjoy...I just love your names and the subtle suspense of not knowing what's going to happen next in your tales. The characters too must all be on alert - never quite knowing what you plan next or where they will be?! If in French, the culmination of the stories would, of course, all be tragic with very few happy endings. Continued power to your imagination, sir. Thank you."

Had to stop and parse that one; the idiom in American English sort of means that your makeup has been professionally applied.

I had to stop and parse your comment Alicia :o) took me a moment but I got there.

More wry observations of animals and humans! 28 October 2018
Another great collection of bite-sized tales from the author's farming life. (The first one being ‘Sometimes I sits and thinks’)
A gentle sharing of observations from a sheep farmer (and his collie)
More wry observations of animals and humans!

yes, it's amazing where a warm personality and good hair will get a girl :-)

Tallis Steelyard: Six men in a boat.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tallis-Steel...
Instead of his usual collection of anecdotes, this time Tallis presents us with a gripping adventure. Why is Tallis 'run out of town' by hired ruffians? Why does a very sensible young woman want his company when plunging into unknown danger? Who or what was buried in the catacombs? And why has there been so much interest in making sure they stay dead? Also featuring flower arranging, life on the river, and a mule of notable erudition.

Tallis Steelyard. The Monster of Bell-Wether Gardens and other stories.

A thoroughly good read. 8 November 2018
For easy and total immersion into a fictional world, a Tallis Steelyard/Port Naain Story is hard to beat.
This book (one of several) offers tantalising glimpses into the variety of life's adventures enjoyed by a jobbing poet (sans the rhyming aspect), in a diverse variety of short tales.

Another excellent Benor Dorfinngil tale 5 November 2018
Jim Webster spins a great yarn and this Benor Dorfinngil story is no exception.

Tallis Steelyard: Six men in a boat.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...
5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended Read
22 November 2018
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Runaway Poet, Flat Boat Sailor, Master Gunner, Flower Arranging Judge, Adventurer and Escort of a beautiful young Lady, are only a few of the skills exhibited by Tallis Steelyard in this extraordinary story.
In my opinion, the world and characters from Jim Webster’s mind would make a wonderful TV series, starting with this one.

But I could see the stories being read, much as Martin Jarvis reads Just William ;-)

Fancy meeting you here

More tales from a lifetime’s experience of peasant agriculture in the North of England, with sheep, Border Collies, cattle, and many other interesting individuals. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is just one of those things.
