Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
More information:

Take a few moments to read the orientation:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
And our guidelines:

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask us moderators. I think there is plenty of room for social history, so look around.

I'm Brandi. I'm 26 and I'm from Alberta, Canada. I just graduated from university for Communications in Professional Writing, and I plan to be a copyeditor and hopefully do some book editing as well. Hmm...what else to say...I guess I like this idea because I've been a giant word nerd/bookworm since I learned to read, but I don't have very many friends that read like I do. So it will be great to have people to share suggestions and ideas with. Besides reading, I love to write and spend most of my time with Tank, my ever loyal English Bulldog <3 He can't read, but he sure loves to grab a nap while I do! I'm really interested in history, specifically World War II. I really enjoy personal accounts, especially of the Holocaust. Hope to meet some fellow lovers of literature!

Welcome to the group, I am sure you'll have a great time here discussing your favourite books and authors. I also enjoy good books on World War II and I like your dog's name, very appropriate for a English bulldog!

Haha, I know where you're coming from when you say you'd have to live to 1000 to read half the books you want to.
Anyway, have fun on the threads and I look forward to reading all your posts in the future!

Demetrius, are you from the United States or are you one of our global members. What are your interests in history so that we can steer you in the right direction?
We are accustomed to more of an introduction which tells us what is there about history which captures your imagination or what historical genre might interest you. Remember we are very clear about our age guidelines.

Demetrius, also here is our standard note where we provide some helpful links.

Normally, we always add three parts: the bookcover, the author's photo when available and always the author's link which is the author's name in linkable text. The book you cited did not have an author's photo in goodreads so there were only two segments.
Glad you found goodreads and the HBC.

Demetrius, there is no test or exam (smile) but you have to read them and follow them as a member.
We do have threads on the Medieval period and the Romans.

Well, Demetrius, it's not that hard...
Look how others do it and copy.
Citing a book? Add book's cover first, then link, then author's portrait when available and author's name all using the link on top of the comment box.
Here ya go:
69 A.D.: The Year of Four Emperors by Gwyn Morgan (no portrait available)

Andrian - hmmm isn't there some woman from the Ukraine doing Euro-pop - add an a at the end.... she will probably get votes at the Eurovision horror song contest but not with me.
So if you'd like to add a video, here she goes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PJy-J...
Also Andrian is a small town in Northern Italy with some 1043 inhabitants. If you would want to know what they do for a living except hang around on the Goodreads site check here:

my name though, is André - thank godness....

Not bad.
Winnie-the-Pooh by
A.A. Milne
I prefer the link with the book's cover - Bryan leaves it. Up to you. But since Mr. Milne has such a lovely face and it's on the site we also post his portrait.

I know what you mean Demetrius. We all have a lot of fun here on the site.
Where you from? The Ukraine? Do you sing or play the Ukulele - or are you from Greece, bankrupt and what not?

Is this right?

Andre, thanks for your help.
Yep, just add an author photo and you have it. Good first try!

I'm sultan from Iraq. I'm 26 years old. I'm in my fourth year of medical school in Iraq and after finishing medical school I will change my course to social science probably in one of universities in Canada .
I really love all branches of social science especially history
when I opened this site I really impressed
I hope that you will help me in choosing books and advice me whether the books historically accurate or not because it's hard to find a history book that is objective and not influenced by author's idea and prejudice

Probably every history book is influenced somewhat by the perspective of the author, but some do more research than others. You will see that members share their perspective about what they read and you can consider that in deciding what to explore. Hope you enjoy the group!

I hope you find the group informative, have fun and I look forward to reading your posts in the future!
Welcome from Iraq. We are delighted to have you with us. You will find that we are a global community with members from around the globe. Do you want us to call you sultan or something else.
We want you to feel comfortable and enjoy your stay here.

Ok that is fine. There was great curiosity as to where you are located in Iraq and what the 11 meant by what we assumed was your city name. Do you have districts or zones - for example have you seen firsthand much of the conflict or were you far removed from those areas.
