ARCHIVE ONE: PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF ~
Glad you found us, Renaissance. I have provided links to the two threads covering both World Wars at the bottom of this post. You will find a plethora of recommendations there. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo (when available) and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

I promised Bentley I would introduce myself so here goes...Hello everyone! My name is Karla and I am from good ol' Los Angeles, CA! I am a premed student at UCLA so any suggestions of books about medicine and its history will be greatly appreciated. I hated reading for as long as I can remember. I know that's just blasphemous on here, but yes I never really enjoyed "reading for fun"...until now! I feel like I need all the knowledge I can gather in preparation for the career I have chosen. I need to feel like an intellect and I need to train my brain to read and read and read or else medical school will be the death of me! I am also the proud mommy of 2, Alyssa(9) and Elijah(7), who also aren't very fond of reading at their wee age but I am working on that. Well, that's a brief intro about me. Looking forward to reading and sharing ideas with all of you!
Welcome, Karla. I’m glad you could join us. The field of medicine is always changing and therefore it’s often referred to the “practice of medicine”. Follow your passion. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) Hello, I'm Dolores Maxwell. I'm 59 years old,a widow, partially disabled,a mother of two and grandmother of three. I currently live in Pennsylvania German country after living most of my life in southeastern Pennsylvania. I've always had an intense interest in American History, especially the war years, and its impact on individuals. My son spent seven years as an active duty Marine Corps officer, so that has intensified my interest in our military history. He has a degree in History and I envy him that! I am a lover of music, and had the pleasure of indulging that love by singing for the veterans in the Veterans Administration nursing home nearby. I sang all the music I love from the 1930's through the 1970's. I'm also a sports nut, and enjoy reading sports history. I'm looking forward to reading and participating in this group.
Welcome Karla and Sarika. There is lots to see here for the history lover. Please browse the threads and join in the discussions/book recommendations. If you have any questions, please ask any of the moderators. Most of all, enjoy!!

Hi Everyone! I'm Iris and I live in CA. I am a professional, a wife, and a mom. One can say that I am "Jane-of-All-Trades." I am no expert, but I live to learn about anything and everything. I learned how to play the steel drum and piano, golf, dance hip hop, bake cupcakes, make cake pops, cook fancy dish and sauces, sew, and recently, established a virtual book club (Divas On Peruse). As Neale Donald Walsch would say,...."Life begins at the end of your comfort zone."
I am very excited to be a member of The History Book Club.
