Mary (traveler8) | 5 comments I really liked Los de Abajos, translated as The Underdogs in English, about the Mexican revolution, and the book reads like a screenplay although was written before movie screenplays were common. When I read this my (then) middle school age son read it in Spanish as I was reading it in English, and we compared notes chapter by chapter.

It is about family secrets and the hardships of immigration, with a ghost who returns on every Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Here is my review
