I really liked the Witch's Daughter. I liked the way it was written, I enjoyed reading it. After reading it I can understand why some people may not like it. If you do read it I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

I recommend Annie on My Mind by Nancy Garden . Its a nice, heart warming story of two teenage girls. I read it several days ago and I was touch.

I'll be reading Don't Turn Around (PERSEF0NE, #1) by Michelle Gagnon next week and would finish The Sleeping Doll (Kathryn Dance, #1) by Jeffery Deaver at the same time frame.

Noodles (noodlefox) | 5 comments Currently I'm halfway through Swan Song and so far I'm absolutely loving it. The whole thing just gives me chills and is as disturbing as I want a post apocalyptic horror novel to be.

I have another of his books, but I'm not sure if I want to start that next or go for one of the others that have recently been calling to me.

Isn't it amazing? I don't think I've cried this much with a book for a long time. I can't put it down.

I actually read the first few pages of "Boy's Life" in the bookstore before I decided on Swan Song instead. Both of them gripped me instantly. It was the apocalypse theme that won me over. I also have "Speaks the Nightbird" which I guess is actually three books gathered into one? I just really love his way of writing.

message 426: by David (last edited Feb 03, 2013 08:40AM) (new)

David Merrill | 11 comments I started Oliver Twist Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens in the hope I might end up joining in with the group, A Year of Dickens, but I've been in comic book reading mode so I was constantly pulled away from it, even though I was very much enjoying it. Comics I've been reading are some funky 70's DC-- Kamandi, Rima the Jungle Girl (based on the character from Green Mansions by W. H. Hudson Green Mansions by William Henry Hudson ) and some bronze age Wonder Woman in addition to the current stuff I buy. I'm also 2/3 finished reading Salvage and Demolition by Tim Powers. I won't bother to link to the cover because they don't have art yet. I'll be shifting to Bleak House Bleak House by Charles Dickens now to read it with a different group.

Kerrin | 41 comments Just about to start Lust for Life (WVMP Radio, #4) by Jeri Smith-Ready

message 434: by Kerrin (new)

Kerrin | 41 comments Mostly 1 character except for a tiny smidge towards the end. I had a love/hate relationship with the book. Loved the idea & difference of the story being from a male perspective but took awhile to get moving for me. I also think there were parts that could have been told in half the number of pages & that's what I didn't enjoy. I love long books, but I like the pace to keep moving.

Christine | 130 comments Julie wrote: "Just started Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia like to read it before checking out the movie, looks good. Finishing up Devil's Bargain (Red Letter Days, #1) by Rachel Caine"

Yes, you MUST read the book before you see the movie because that awful, AWFUL movie will ruin the book for you if you see it first. I am in LOVE with the book and the movie was just horrible. The ending is just like, "WHAT THE WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!!????" *as credits roll, and director and screenwriter's name appears on screen I scream and yell that I am going to murder him and get odd looks from other moviegoers* And I was just about ready to go burn all of the movie posters and my friend and I were planning to go take all of the DVDs off of the shelf when it comes out and throw them in trash in a frenzy, touting the original Beautiful Creatures cover art on our books and waving them in the air to ward odd the evil of the movie and proclaiming the truth. Yep.

message 449: by Julie (new)

Julie | 123 comments Wow... it was that bad lol the previews make it look very appealing. Well, so far I like the book and didn't know it was from Ethans p.o.v.!

message 450: by Christine (new)

Christine | 130 comments It is really such an amazing story. I'm a big history nerd so that's what put it over the top for me as one of my favs! There was just so much crap in the movie that didn't make any sense and looked like it was the product of someone's high imagination. My friends and I were making fun of it at times because it was just so stupid!!
