Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I'll do the last set of questions in a bit :)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments I think Devil is kind of like his horse. Arrogant but definitely has his moments!

I love the fact that neither one is really aware that they are falling in love with each other. Married sex is wonderful!! But no sex on the table outside his mother's room, please. No!!

And I love the planning of the ball - one of my favorite side characters is Lady Olbadestone. She cracks me up. And I think it's cute how Devil gets a little jealous of her time away from him.

I actually really love the scene where they see Honoria in the window. I think it sets the stage for all the other books. I think it's really important that they see her as a sexual person with Devil - it changes how they behave towards her. They respect the connection more and know that it's possible to have that relationship also.

#1 – Well, this series might be a little dated for you. I like to see a little more of the world, too!

#2 & #4 – I love that you are the voice of dissention!
#3 – I agree about the early presentation of the mystery. Good point about her sticking her nose in. LOL!

#5 – See! Now you have me changing my mind back the other way. LOL! I’m so fickle.

#6 – LMBO! I don’t know.

#7 – Love Sullieman, too! LOL! I laugh at that part every time I read this one.

#8 – Oh, Kit★, you’re killing me! LOL!

#9 – Yes, dead give-away.

#11 – Mind Meld!

I think several authors agreed to "share" this character, since she is an archetype of a dragon of the ton. I just can't remember who was did so. Maybe Julia Quinn?

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Susan's Questions for ch 22 - end

41. Not only did Honoria go galavanting off to the seedy Navy bar by the dock, she went in! I have to say, she's quick thinking to blatantly lie and say Devil and his cousins were on their way. Would you have gone? What did you think of Devil showing up?

42. Well. Honoria has confessed her love to Devil. What'd you think of that scene?

43 The killer is getting desperate...sending notes all over town for some elaborate set up. We're you shocked that Devil would believe it after Honoria's confession the night before? I have to say, I laughed that she popped Chillingsworth :)

44. Would you have agreed with Devil and Vane about needing to continue with the charade to draw Charles out?

45. Didn't you just now Charles would get to Honoria while Devil and Vane weren't there? Honoria's quick thinking saved her again. Would you have been as quick on your feet to stall? Did you expect her to confess about the baby in that show down?

46. Devil never told her he loves her. Did you notice that? Honestly, that is one of my pet peeves...it's a romance with a happily ever after, for Christ's sake! The heroine should always be told that she's loved.

47. The ending with Honoria making the guys pay their winnings to the church was funny. Comments?

48. Will you read the rest of this HUGE series? Shosho says she has the next one up on her TBR soon. Wanna buddy read it with her (and me)?

I never heard that, but I do think Julia Quinn has a character that is similar. Another favorite of mine!! Now I'll have to be looking for that.
And you are right - Maggie has stars in her eyes! It was probably from all the humidity and other sights. I guess at one point he came out in boxer shorts and not much else! I think those girls were going to pass out. Side note - she also met Kevin Costner when he was filming Mr. Brooks and they used a house on the same street. She came home and said "he's pretty good looking for an old guy!"

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Leslie, I agree. Kevin Costner is good looking. (notice I'm not adding for an older guy LOL)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments 41. I'm not surprised that she wanted to go but I'm surprised that Sligo didn't find a way to stop her since he knew Devil would kill him!
42.I love it when the heroine just goes ahead and says she loves the guy! I'm not big on the stories where she tries to hide it. I think she did it perfectly.
43. I think it's all so new for him that he had a momentary lapse. But he felt bad. And I was always surprised that Chillingsworth went to kiss her. That's something I always felt was out of character.
44.Yes, it made sense.
45. I just kept wondering where all the stable hands were. It seemed odd that he was hitching up his own horses.
46.I thought he did tell her. I'm actually okay with it because you know he does. But it would have been nice to hear him say it.
47. I love that scene! It just shows how in charge of the family she is.

I have already set a personal challenge to re-read this entire series in order. I'm doing a book a month.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Lisa Kay Answers Susan's Questions for Chapter 22 – end

41. Not only did Honoria go gallivanting off to the seedy Navy bar by the dock, she went in! I have to say, she's quick thinking to blatantly lie and say Devil and his cousins were on their way. Would you have gone? What did you think of Devil showing up?
Well, if I was younger I would have gone, and if I love the person as much as Honoria loved Devil. Too funny when Devil showed up. Loved their argument and the servants all standing up for her decision; they love Devil, too!

42. Well. Honoria has confessed her love to Devil. What'd you think of that scene?
I loved it. She stood up to him and declared her love. I wanted to say, “See! Be careful what you ask for.” LOL!

43 The killer is getting desperate...sending notes all over town for some elaborate set up. Were you shocked that Devil would believe it after Honoria's confession the night before? I have to say, I laughed that she popped Chillingsworth :)
Nope. Wasn’t shocked. It showed his venerability.

44. Would you have agreed with Devil and Vane about needing to continue with the charade to draw Charles out?
Yes.

45. Didn't you just know Charles would get to Honoria while Devil and Vane weren't there? Honoria's quick thinking saved her again. Would you have been as quick on your feet to stall? Did you expect her to confess about the baby in that show down?
She was thinking quick. However, I always roll my eyes at her telling him he’ll have other children. Yeah, like that would calm him down? WTH?

46. Devil never told her he loves her. Did you notice that? Honestly, that is one of my pet peeves...it's a romance with a happily ever after, for Christ's sake! The heroine should always be told that she's loved.
Nope. He never tells her. I don’t think any of the Cynsters do. I remember searching for those three little words years ago. I love to hear them.

47. The ending with Honoria making the guys pay their winnings to the church was funny. Comments?
Yes, love that. And the church did need a new roof. LOL! I agree with Leslie; shows she will make a great matriarch of the clan.

48. Will you read the rest of this HUGE series? Shosho says she has the next one up on her TBR soon. Wanna buddy read it with her (and me)?
My house is a little crazy right now. All my challenges are going to hell in a hand basket. When? This month or next?

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 361 comments Okay. I'm kind of late to the party here. I started reading yesterday afternoon and will finish some time today. At this point I am ready to smack some sense into Honoria. She's lived in that culture all her life (although not "in Society"), and she didn't really believe that her reputation had been compromised? And a "finishing" governess? Really? I get that she's stubborn and Devil's (ack-that name) overbearing, but don't they ever give it a rest? They're both arrogant, so I guess they deserve each other. I pegged the villain shortly after his first appearance although I don't know what his motivation is yet. I'll finish the book. I rather like the author's writing. Since HR really isn't my genre of choice, I probably won't be reading any others in the series.

message 123: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Great, Sandra J! Welcome to the "buddy read." I see your points, especially about her being a "finishing" governess. I think the author could have pulled it off better if, as Susan said, her POV had her thinking of Tolly - and being tired. Also, if she had rehashed it in her mind asking, "How could this have happened to me?!" But nada.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments Welcome, Sandra J! It's always great to hear others opinions to give a book a different spin. I have a fondness for arrogant characters, so it doesn't bother me. I think because she is not out in society, she doesn't think it will affect her and she is in the country. And she doesn't know she spent the night in his lap. I think Lisa Kay is right - she was focused on Tolly dying.
And Susan - I have read them all over the past 5 years but completely out of order. When I picked up reading again about 5 years ago (I wasn't working anymore because of Katrina)these were the first books I picked up.
Lisa Kay - I would NEVER say Kevin Costner is old since we are about the same age!

message 125: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Oh, I see what you are saying, Leslie, that she is not an active participant in the ton's activities. Got it. It was Susan that originally thought that about Tolly's dying, just to give credit where credit is due.

I think these would perfect to escape the aftermath of Katrina and loss of a job, Leslie! In a situation like that, I would forgive a romance book tons, just for a few hours of escape.

I always loved KC, and love his movies, but I never thought he could pull off the grungy look. He was too yummy clean cut, IMHO.

Kevin Costner

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments Kit★'s Answers to Leslie's Questions for Chapters 7-11

12. Any ideas as to why Tolly would have been killed and by whom?
I'm thinking he saw somebody doing something wrong or witnessed some bad doings. As of right now I'm pretty sure it was Charles.

13. Did you enjoy the picnic?
Everyone loves a picnic!

14. Why do you think Honoria is really opposed to marriage to anyone?
Because she doesn't want to get too close to anyone, and she especially doesn't want to have children because she's afraid she'll lose them. Which is understandable I think.

15. What's your opinion of Michael, Honoria's brother?
He's alright. I thought it was funny how Devil rushed out to intercept him before Honoria could talk to him first, and bring him over to the 'man's' way of seeing things.

16. Isn't the story of how her parents died tragic! In what other ways do you think it affected Honoria.
Terrible! What a freak accident though... and that she happened to be watching when it happened... horrible. It's made her not want to get too close to people, as I said in the other answer, but it's also influenced her desire to get away and live a wandering life, first as a governess only staying in a place for a short while, as well as her desire to see Africa. She doesn't want to be too involved in a person or place because she doesn't want to suffer another horrible tragedy.

17. Don't you just love Devil's mother! That's not really a question, is it. But still, isn't she just lovely. Do you think there is a story there. And why do all his brothers and cousins have such crazy nicknames! Scandal - really!
Yes, I like her. In fact I read her and Devil's father's story a year or two or three ago The Promise in a Kiss (Cynster, #7.5) by Stephanie Laurens because it was a 'prequel' of sorts to this series. But I was shocked to learn 'Scandal' was younger than Devil, because that means that the old duke messed around on his wife whose love story I had read, and that's not a good part of a HEA so... It's not a series deal-breaker or nothing but I figured, looking at the family tree, that Scandal would be older. Ok, wait a minute, just read some comments past this set of q's and seen that apparently it was covered in Promise in a Kiss. Totally don't remember it at all. Wow, so I need to re-read it! Yay!
I'm with you on the silly nicknames. Geez they all gotta be 'cool' huh? I'm guessing Scandal is called that because he was born out of wedlock with a father who was fooling around on his wife. I'll be interested in learning more of the background story there...

18. How do you feel about the fact that she has to discuss her future with her brother. I have the most annoying, obnoxious brother in the world. I love him dearly but I cannot imagine if he had control of my life! This aspect of life back then has always bothered me.
Yea, womens' rights back then left something to be desired, to put it nicely. I'm so glad I've got my rights here and now. I've got a step-brother who's my age, and we don't really communicate much, not that we dislike each other it's just we are so different socially. But I wouldn't want him making decisions for me, and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want to either. Then I have a half-brother who's 6 years younger than me, so yea, I wouldn't want him in charge of me either, though we get along very well, the fact that he's younger than me would make it odd for him to be in charge lol.

19. Given the status of governesses, don't you find it a little odd that Honoria was one.
Yes, a little bit. She's supposed to be upper echelon of the ton family-tree wise, and yet she's going around being a governess like some poor orphan girl. Granted, she's a special governess with more status, but I've never heard of a finishing governess before, sounds fishy to me lol O.o

20. What do you think convinced Michael of the rightness of the marriage?
Devil's social standing in society, and the fact that she'd never want for anything as a duchess, and also that Devil is a strong, take charge man's man, I think he feels Honoria will be well cared for. Also that Devil doesn't seem mean or cruel, and that he has some feelings for her, even if they're only lustful at this point and not romantic.

21. "I'll be riding you before Christmas." What do you think of his plan?
Lol crude, but made me chuckle a wee bit. Plus he knows it as well as I do that he'll be riding her long before Christmas :D

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments Kit★'s Answers to Lisa Kay’s Questions for Chapters 12 – 16

22. There always seems to be the obligatory argument over who is going to pay for the new wardrobe in romance books, historical or contemporary (I’m reading one now!). Still, does Devil have a point? How do you feel about it turning ‘physical’? Later he ‘apologizes’ – or did he? LOL!
Frankly, I don't get what these girls are complaining about. If I had someone willing and able to buy me a lavish, complete head to toe and everything in between wardrobe of the highest quality, superbly tailored to custom fit me, I'd be like, "thanks!!" and speak nary a word of argument. For real, why complain, shut up and take your pretty dresses and quit being stubborn lol.

23. How did you like Chillingworth? What about his good-natured rivalry with Devil? His story is in All About Passion. What about Lucifer? His story is found in All About Love. Which one do you want to read about the most? [Goodness, I can’t believe I remember all these characters so well and in what book they appeared. Do you have a series like that? Which one? Is this due to a good writer/good plot or just a great memory (before mine went to hell in a hand basket)?]
I like Chillingworth well enough. I was kinda figuring he was being introduced as a future badass sexy guy lol. I think I'm looking forward to his story more than I am Lucifer's, at least right now. As for the other part of the question, my memory's so bad I have trouble remembering all kinds of stuff, so can't say that I do. Even ones I love like the Bridgertons and the Mallorens I have a hard time remembering names and who's with who a year after reading the book... :(

24. Authors often prolong the inevitable consummation with an unfortunate interruption, to build the tension. However, I must admit I liked the two maids fighting. You?
It was ok, though it kinda just made me more impatient for them to do it already.

25. What about Honoria wanting a proper proposal? She’s beginning to cave, isn’t she? Still, Devil’s holding out for a declaration. Comments.
Well, it's the least he could do since he's kinda railroading her into this whole deal. He could at least ask nicely. Though, geez, please could he quit calling her Honoria Prudence all the time!? Honoria's bad enough but his continuous addressing of her by both names is getting annoying! If my name was Prudence, I wouldn't want people to be calling me by it... As for him holding out for her declaration, she's tried to tell him a few times now, and he doesn't wanna listen, so that's his problem lol.

26. What disreputable thing could Tolly have been involved in? What about the ‘vital’ clue that is just out of Devil’s reach?
Maybe something to do with hookers, or thieving, though I can't picture it. The clue is that Charles is an excellent shot with a pistol, and Tolly was shot by someone with remarkable aim.

27. What do you think of Devil still wearing the arm-band for Tolly and not dancing? Still, he snuck off for an illicit waltz with her in the orangery. Convenient place for a daybed, don't you think? Was someone watching? Comments.
I think ol' Charles was spying, being a weirdo. I didn't mind Devil and the others keeping the mourning on, it was a good show of solidarity.

28. Uh, oh. I’m thinking Vane and Gabriel’s betting is not a good thing. LOL!
Lol no, but that's what boys do.

29. Were you suspicious of the broken axle on Devil’s phaeton? Is he? Is Honoria? Predictions on which one will figure it out first?
Yep, yep, and definitely yep. I'm thinking Honoria will figure it out.

30. Book Quote: "I’m twenty-four – I’ve wasted enough time." and “Does that make me your mistress?” “No.” Devil held his breath as she sank, excruciatingly slowly, down. “That makes you my pupil.” Chapter 16! Comments?
The hot scene was nice, and as for being 24 and feeling like you've wasted enough time, I can totally feel that, though I'm not 24 anymore...

#12 – You are so clever. ☺

#13 – True!

#14 & 16 – Yes. She certainly doesn’t want to risk her heart again; very understandable.

#15 – Brought a smile to my face. Arrogant Devil.

#18 – Really! Back then, even a male cousin could rule over a woman, if she had no “men folk” closer.

#19 – Interesting; I’ve read several romances where there was one.

#21 – Indeed! Very crude.

#22 – LMBO! Really! Buy me a new wardrobe for all the seasons.

#23 – I used to have the best memory. Even now, I can remember things I read, or TV shows I watched, years ago, but can’t remember stuff I read last year. Sign of old age, that.

#25 – Now see, I like him calling her by her first & middle name. LOL! I think he was trying to show that he knew her well. You’re in luck; he tapers off toward the end, I believe.

#30 – Ah, but you’re still young, Kit★! Enjoy it while you can! Twenty-four was a good age for me.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments Kit, I can't remember things in books either! I think that's why I like to re-read them. And I went through a period of reading so many historicals that they all started blending together.
And I agree, Lisa Kay - I liked him calling her by her full name. I thought it was funny and cute. It's like a secret bit of intimacy every time he said it. Sort of why he liked buying the clothes for her. I thought he was so cute when he got caught.

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments Lol I probably wouldn't mind his calling her by her first and middle names if her name was Honoria Jane or something, but the Prudence just makes me wanna yak every time I read it. Then Scandal was calling her by both names too when he and Devil were at the shooting gallery and it was like blerg... It's like all the boys get cool names like Devil and Lucifer and the girls get horrid names like Prudence and Patience. Lol. I know names like that were common back then but they just are not to my taste at all, I'd rather have names like Amaryllis or Gladiola than Prudence ha! But that's just me :D

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments Kit★'s Answers to Lisa Kay’s Questions for Chapters 17 – 21

31. So, what did you think of the hallway scene? Good think Devil didn’t indulge himself on the table outside his mother’s rooms; too much of an ‘ick’ factor for me. Though, I do admit the ‘trying to keep quiet’ can be quite titillating. LOL! How about that Honoria’s blushes gave away to Helena that a wedding was imminent?
Yea, definite ick factor doin' it right outside your mama's bedroom! Good thing they didn't. But yes, the trying to be sneaky can be fun, just not 10 feet away from your mother!

32. What was your favorite part of the wedding? What did you think of Magnus?
The wedding itself was all good, and no one was too snarky or anything so it went over well. As for Magnus, he seems pretty interesting, I'm wondering if we'll get to see more of him later on, he seems like a cool dude despite Honoria's dislike of him.

33. What about Charles’ conversation with Honoria? Later, his conversation with Devil on Berkeley Street (chp. 19).
He's being a creep. What Devil and Honoria do in their marriage isn't really his beeswax, and I don't like how he's trying to sow dissension between them.

34. What about the Cynster cousins outside the new duchess’s bedroom window?
Ha! I kinda laughed. I thought they were going to get more of a show than what they did though, but it was still amusing.

35. How did you like the return to the woodman’s cottage? Did you like Honoria’s argument to get Devil to discuss Viscount Bromley’s involvement? Are they barking up the wrong tree here?
I thought it was kinda weird that the woodsman wasn't there but they just strolled into his house for a look around. Yea, technically Devil owns it but still. They just went in and looked and left again. Kinda odd. I don't think they're going up the wrong tree though, I think someone at a brothel was involved with Charles and his plot, whatever it may be.

36. What do you think of all the ball planning? The various Cynster’s making invitation requests? Devil’s jealous of her time.
It was funny how all the boys trooped in asking for their desired female's invitation, and how she made them all promise to dance with the twins was a good 'payment' for their ladies' invites. But it was funny how Devil was getting irritated.

37. Eep! Poisoned brandy! Comments. Seems like someone who was familiar with the lay out of their home, right?
Yep, definitely. Who else would be familiar enough with Devil's routine and where he sleeps, etc.

38. Not really a question here…I’m sorry, but did any of you ever watch Magnum PI? In it Higgins was always having another half-brother from all over the world show up. Higgins excused his father’s indiscretions on the fact that he was on a mission. LOL! Anyway, that is what Scandal’s story reminded me of. LOL!
Lol no, never seen it, but that's funny. I'm interested in learning more of Scandal's origins and etc. I don't care what kind of mission my guy's on, he so much as even kisses another woman while he's gone somewhere else, and it's over, duke or no duke! Lol.

39. What? Now ruffians are after Devil with swords? Obviously hired. Comments. Are you figuring out who is the murderer?
Yep, totally hired. Not the right part of town for them to be random bandits, and the swords was a give away, it's not like lowly gangs of robbers go running about London with swords. It's Charles! Lol, I was a little shocked when Honoria thought it might be Scandal though, I mean, I never ever would've suspected him. So it was funny, kinda off the wall how she blurted it out so sure she was right.

40. Oh, Honoria is going to off gallivanting down at the docks now, isn’t she? Devil’s going to go ballistic. Comments.
Yep, looks like it. Silly girl going and getting herself into danger. Of course he's going to freak, he's a control freak and he doesn't want her endangered.

41. Not only did Honoria go gallivanting off to the seedy Navy bar by the dock, she went in! I have to say, she's quick thinking to blatantly lie and say Devil and his cousins were on their way. Would you have gone? What did you think of Devil showing up?
I knew she'd go in, she's too stubborn not to lol. But yea, I was surprised by the story she came up with, it worked pretty well, and Devil's actually showing up only helped matters more. I would've gone too, no way I'd sit back quietly while someone tried to kill my love!

42. Well. Honoria has confessed her love to Devil. What'd you think of that scene?
I liked how she wasn't afraid to come out and tell him, but I was kinda disappointed that he really didn't say much in return.

43. The killer is getting desperate...sending notes all over town for some elaborate set up. Were you shocked that Devil would believe it after Honoria's confession the night before? I have to say, I laughed that she popped Chillingsworth :)
Lol, the set-up was almost so convoluted that it was almost funny, and really showed the villain's desperation, grasping at straws. I'm glad Devil realized rather quickly that Honoria wasn't doing anything bad, if it would've turned into a big misunderstanding, I probably would've got mad. And yes, her defending herself made me laugh. Poor Chillingworth...

44. Would you have agreed with Devil and Vane about needing to continue with the charade to draw Charles out?
Yea, I think I would've agreed with them, they couldn't drag it out any longer and risk any more silly attempts at ruining the family name, or worse, murder, so the endgame needed to happen.

45. Didn't you just know Charles would get to Honoria while Devil and Vane weren't there? Honoria's quick thinking saved her again. Would you have been as quick on your feet to stall? Did you expect her to confess about the baby in that show down?
Lol I was actually expecting the broken windmill to be a setup leading to Devil getting hurt while Honoria was home by herself. So I was a little surprised that he came to Honoria. I probably wouldn't have been so quick to come up with a delay myself, but I probably wouldn't have acted so believable either, I'd've blurted out that I knew Devil wasn't at that damn cottage or something, fought in some way.

46. Devil never told her he loves her. Did you notice that? Honestly, that is one of my pet peeves...it's a romance with a happily ever after, for Christ's sake! The heroine should always be told that she's loved.
Yes, I did notice. Apparently he's too cool to actually say the words, not like it would hurt to do it! After he didn't say it in the chapters leading to the end, I figured for sure he'd say it in the epilogue, but no! What a putz.

47. The ending with Honoria making the guys pay their winnings to the church was funny. Comments?
Yes, loved it! She just marched in there like a mama hen and they all had to listen to her, it was great. I can't wait to see all of 'em brought under some girls' thumbs lol.

48. Will you read the rest of this HUGE series? Shosho says she has the next one up on her TBR soon. Wanna buddy read it with her (and me)?
For sure! I'm eager to get to know this family even better. Sure this couple wasn't my favorite, but with so many books in the set I'm sure I'll find a couple or two that I like better. Already I'm liking Chillingworth and the twins... :D

#31 – True!

#33 – I like that word: “dissension” – good word.

#34 – I did, too, the first time I read it. Bunch of Peeping Toms, really! LOL!

#36 - ☺

#38 – Yes, “closing his eyes and thinking of England” or some semblance of that excuse would NOT work for me, LOL!

#39 – Yeah, Honoria Prudence (sorry, couldn’t resist, LOL!) got it wrong that time.

#41 – You’re so brave! ☺

#43 – Yes, nice to avoid the Big Misunderstanding! ♥Chilingworth♥

#44 – Good points!

#45 – I would have probably spilled the beans, too.

#46 – Yes, his blaring flaw. I think SL does this with all her heroes. Maybe she should have Devil say it in a later novel. It starts standing out the more novels of hers you read.

#47 – LOL!

#48 – Great!

Lauren (laurenjberman) Lauren's Answers for DQs Chapters 1 – 6

1. Honoria's an interesting character. This is the first time I've encountered a governess who chose to be one not out of necessity but out of a sincere desire for independence. Another thing that struck me is that she may be a governess but she is still a member of the ton somewhat snotty attitude toward those she considers unworthy of her skills.

2. Devil is typical of Duke/rake hero of many HRs. He expects everyone including Honoria and his horse to obey his every command. I think both Honoria and the horse have other ideas, lol!

3. Although I had trouble reading past the first couple of chapters the first time I tried the book, I had no problems this time and like that the action started immediately. I love a good mystery.

4. I think that it is a combination of all of those elements. Mainly, he just wants her and given who she is, he knows he has to marry her or dishonor both her and his family.

5. The more I learn about her, the more I realize that Honoria feels herself above the censure of people like the Claypole's. She doesn't care what they think (perhaps she doesn't care what anyone thinks) and as her plan is to leave England anyway, her actions were not surprising.

6. Sexy!

7. Some great moments. Devil certainly isn't shy :0)

8. Honoria has a mind of her own and feels a responsibility toward Tolly. She is definitely going to stick her nose in.

9. Charles is creepy! He has also moved to the top of my suspect list. I think that he shot Tolly by accident thinking it was Devil. As the oldest son of the 2nd Cynster brother, isn't Charles next in line? Also, he wouldn't want Devil to marry Honoria and have a son and heir.

10. He knows what he wants and has no intention of letting her resistance get in his way.

11. Sweet moment and I like how she stood her ground with him and didn't let him interfere with their saying goodbye.

Lauren (laurenjberman) @Leslie and @ Lisa Kay - I agree that Honoria isn't bitchy but I do think that she is a bit of an elitist, at least at first.

#2 - LMBO! Agree.

#4 - Again, I agree; all those elements.

#5 - Great observation.

#6 - Ha!

#9 - Very creepy.

#11 - Ditto.

Lauren (laurenjberman) Lauren's Answers for DQs Chapters 7-11

1. The more we learn about Charles and his relationship with the rest of the family, the more I suspect him. He also had the opportunity to kill Tolly and get back to the house before Vane arrived.

2. Devil is certainly devious but it was a fun scene.

3. After her parents' and siblings' deaths, I think she is afraid of loving and losing another family.

4. I like Michael. He understands his sister very well and has her best interests at heart.

6. Yes, I love the Dowager Duchess as well. I think their nicknames reflect their personalities and the more we learn about them the clearer the reason will become. I love how clean see and loving the family is. They remind me of the Bridgertons a bit.

7. It fits in with the time period. Women had very few if any rights

8. It's the life she has chosen for herself. She has money of her own and doesn't actually have to be a governess. It is her way of asserting her independence.

9. I think Michael realizes that Devil and Honoria are a good match for each other.

10. Arrogant ass, isn't he? Lol!

Lauren (laurenjberman) Lauren's Answers for DQs Chapters 12-16

1. The argument reflects s their different stances - Devil is determined to marry Honoria and sees it as his duty to provide for her while she hasn't decision dead yet and objects to his highhandedness and sees it as an affront to her independence.

2. I'm looking forwa red to both but right now I want to know more about Richard - he seems the broody type ( my favorite)

3. For some reason that has escaped me. What maids?

4. I liked that Devil wNted Honoria to make her decision herself with as little influence from him as possible. It showed that he respects her.

6. Inthink the clue is related to the gun used and the fact that the shot was so accurate at a distance. Charles is good with guns.... No idea what the disreputable thing is.

7. Yes, someone was watching and overheard their conversation. Then Devil has an "accident". Not a coincidence!

8. The Cynster cousins are great :0)

9. I think Honoria will figure it out first.

10. Great chapter - there is just the right amount of physical and emotional intimacy. Devil is having a tougher time admitting just how much ch Honoria means to him. I love it when the reluctant hero falls so hard.
