Try Jessica Shirvington's series 'The Violet Eden Chapters'. The first book is called embrace. I fell in love with this 5 book series straight after reading the Vampire Academy and Bloodlines books.

there are no vampires but the book is so much like vampire academy series.

I don't know if you read adult books, but if you do, you should look into the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost. The main female character is kick ass (like Rose but she's not as reckless {in my opinion}). The first book is The male character is awesome as well. Really everyone in this book is amazing.
