Natalie | 149 comments This was a poem or short story about a couple and the unique thing about it was that it only used basic sentences, like "He said. She replied." etc.
Thanks for any help.

Sairah (sairahb) | 69 comments Hills Like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway, perhaps?

message 3: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 149 comments That's not it, thanks though.

Sairah (sairahb) | 69 comments Do you remember anything about the plot?

message 5: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 149 comments Yes, it was some kind of romance. I believe they meet each other (somewhere) and then get together, they have a "romantic" scene, they have a fight, and I think they separate, I'm not sure.

Sairah (sairahb) | 69 comments Do you remember anything about where it takes place? Fantasy land, europe/america/arabian deserts/north pole? =) Is this fairly well-known? Sometimes you can have a sense of these things...

message 7: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 149 comments Since it was only "She _ed. He _ed." I didn't get a sense of the setting. I have no clue if it's well known or not...
Sorry :)

Sairah (sairahb) | 69 comments Any clue about when you may have read it and whether it seemed new at the time or not?

The other thing that came to mind totally doesn't fit your description. The nonsense poem in Alice in Wonderland, "They Told Me You Had Been to Her".

A short story that has an interesting use of pronouns and lack of proper nouns is also "Born of Man and Woman" by Richard Matheson. It's an older, scifi piece.

message 9: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 149 comments I read it in about 07, 08 and I believe it was a couple years old, (ten? twenty at most). It's none of those, but thanks.

Natalie | 149 comments Bump.

Diana Welsch | 530 comments Does the name Amy Hempel ring a bell? I'm pretty sure there was a story in At the Gates of the Animal Kingdom: Stories that did this, but I can't remember the name of it and can't find the table of contents.

Ruby Hollyberry | 30 comments Knots is like that - a little book of poems that illustrate relationship problems in simple sentences of he and she, repetitive but complex.

Natalie, are you still looking for this poem or short story?

message 15: by Natalie (new)

Natalie | 149 comments Well, no one's found it, so I guess so!

Natalie--if you bump your thread up every 30 to 60 days, you'll have a better chance of getting ID'ed.

No response from Natalie in 2014; moving to Abandoned.
