I totally agree! I personally could read them over and over again!

I just finished Blood Promise

I'm also reading A Perfect Darkness [image error] , it's good, but lately I haven't been in the mood for the PNR books. But I'll get back to it.
Now I'm reading my contemporary romances in search of a HEA :)

Jess I agree about Blood Promise. It could have/should have been so much better.

I loved Soulless too. Very clever and even her biography at the back of the book is funny.
Right now I'm reading Burnt Offerings - trying to get through all the Anita Blake/Laurell Hamilton books.

Tee hee...
Is that a book, or do you have an "in" with the supernatural set? If so, introduce us!
:)

when I saw Hayley's post, I was gonna respond similarly.

Alright Sue, have you finished

I am interested to hear what you thought. I'm done..thank goodness.
I thought it was pretty painful. :-(

Symmetry was painful, huh? Any particular reason, ie slow plot, weak characterization? I haven't read Time Traveler's Wife, have you?

Michelle M.--I read The Time Traveler's Wife and I liked it. I took me a bit to get into it, but once I did, I enjoyed it.
Her Fearful Symmetry, on the other hand, started out bad and ended bad. I really HATE to not finish a book, but I seriously considered NOT finishing it. I just had no motivation--other than the hopes that Niffenegger would redeem herself and crank out some stellar ending...hardly.
First, I wasn't even interested in what I was reading the entire first 1/2 of the book. Basically, the story is about 2 sets of twins--one older and one younger. One of the older twins dies and leaves everything to her twin nieces. Okay--THAT is the first 1/2 of the 400 page book--seriously. It starts to get a little more interesting when the younger twins move to London (from the US) to the home they have inherited, where they are haunted by their aunt's ghost. Family secrets unfold and some very strange--not in a good way--intimate scenes play out between the twins and some of the odd male neighbors. Then, let's not forget the ghost's view of her grieving "lover" lying her bed-looking a photos crying and "wanking off". The scenes actually made me cringe.
The characters were flat, in fact, out of the 15 or so characters in the book, the only one I really liked was the eff'd up neighbor with OCD.
I felt that the story started out on a slow, but somewhat believable note, I was willing to give it a shot and see it through to the end. Then the story totally unraveled...we are talking went to hell in a hand basket! The ending was so absurd and totally unbelievable--I was irritated that I finished the book! I read a ton of fantasy with weres-vamps-shifters, you know the characters...so I can do make-believe. The problem with this book IMHO is it started out as possibly a "real" scenario and ended very far from real. (If you are not ever planning to read it, I would be happy to divulge the ending to you...)
When I first finished the book I was trying to decide b/t 2 or 3 stars and I decided to go with 2. Now that I have had a few days to think about it, I think I was being generous with 2 stars and I am wondering how I ever thought it possibly deserved 3 stars.

Ok Michelle, I just left you a mini novel on email about the ending.

Ooh tell me about the ending too--I've heard way too many bad reviews about it to read it, but you're not the only one to comment on the ending--now I'm curious! :)

I go read...

i will forward the email/mini novel I sent to Michelle--so I dont spoil it for everyone else.

we must have been typing at the same time...you laugh now.

Yeah! See what I mean about being totally LUDACRIS?

No Problem!

How far into it are you? I found it really hard to get through until about halfway. By the end of the book, I was really loving it. It is such an interesting storyline. I thought it was crazy how it could be similar to the Twilight books in so many ways, yet completley different.

How are you liking it?"
Im reading the paper back one that's about 1152 pages im at page 196. It's ok so far, interesting story line!

I read by Midnight's Daughter by Karen Chance and had a really hard time reading it. I also have Touch the Dark and I will read it but I am assuming it will be as confusing as Midnight's Daughter. I don't mind fast paced but her books are pretty confusing as it doesn't seem like she explains certain things whether it's a creature or place. I will read Touch the Dark when I run out of other things to read.

I agree! I just finished it and the middle to the end is amazing. At first I wasn't to sure if I was going to enjoy it.

LOL! Feels like it doesn't it!:)

I had the same problem Cherra! I stuck with it and have to say the first book has the typical first book syndrome, the books get a little better but I have to say it is not one of my favorites, altho I'm invested enough that I will keep going at least to the 4th book that I already have and then will decide from there if I want to keep going. I did hear that Midnight's Daughter is better so have that to try as well....

see, that is my problem too. I just don't want it to be another "Merry Gentry series" for me. You know you just keep reading b/c you are hoping for something better--that is why I don't have any plans in the near future to read the anita blake series. I heard so many great things about the Merry Gentry seriesthen I read it...didn't really care much for the first book and read the 2nd then the 3rd hoping it was going to click for me. It never really did, but I finished the series anyway b/c I wanted to see what happened and I will of course read the one coming out in december Divine Misdemeanors
