The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
question
writing is hard!

writing is very difficult you have the keep the person entertained and make up new cool stories.i put sherlock holmes fer the picture because i thought that hes a detective and to make him a the greatest detective you have to think of ways to make him figure them out.im writing a story with my friend and were are going to write 4 books its really hard with just the both of us.so far ive told a couple of people (ppl)about our book and they think its great and they want to be in it.ive only told my mom ,cousin,my other friend and i fergot the other two ppl.
chapter one is as far as we got. and we want to trey to get to 300 pages or more.................its really hard ! how would you feel trying to finish a long book of any book would it be hard to come up with ideas or the names or whatever!

Well, I personally gave up long story writing. Some people are more suited to short stories,or poetry.
I started this new group for sharing as a group, anyone can join, but I do have a few rules you might want to look over first...

Writing is very difficult, especially when it doesn't come naturally. I mean, me and my friend are trying to write a book and I think I'm the only one that gets 'writers block.' But, that's because I'm the only one that describes anything; my friend makes up the dialoge. But, poetry is just as great as a normal book. Kinda, but that's just my opinion. Like, you know the book "Inkheart?" That was probrably the most detailed book I have ever read! I wonder how Cornillia Funke does it? *SIGH* Anyways, that's all I wanted to say.
I completely understand what you mean about writers block! I have it all the time. When I was done writing for the day I would not finish my sentence so the next time I would write, I would be out of writers block. It didn't work. I just got confused at why in the world I wrote what I did. Oops.

I'm a teacher and I teach writing (among other things) so I have a few strategies that might be helpful to make writing a bit easier. I'd be happy to discuss some ideas to make writing easier, if anyone is interested. :)
Plenty of resources on the web these days. 'Absolutewrite.com' and 'writersdigest.com' are just two.
'Gotham writers workshop' has free online classes.
I think the #1 prerequisite to writing is being a reader; being an *avid* reader. Experience as many books as you can.

Adrian, I love to write, and my dream is to get to put on paper the story I am playing with in my mind since years now. I'd love to hear your suggestions and ideas!!!
well...maybe writing a full-length novel is too much to tackle for a fresh writer. Why not start with a short story, or even fanfic, where you don't have to worry so much about character development and world building, but can tweak all you want with plots. Or vice versa, do a fair-tale re-write, where plot is there and you do what you wish with character and settings.
