I think it's important to keep it simple to begin with but things like Amazon and Kindle have changed the rules of the game, writers are free to write as they please now and many classic novels were only around 140 pages, too, I don't think we need to write a 450 page epic to be a novelist. I'd also challenge the thread title. We should stick a sign above our PC "Writing is easy". It's more encouraging! :)
