well, unless you have a problem with it I guess I was ;)

in AA and such they band together because they NEED each other...
...I'm done. I don't know where this thought process is trying to lead.

I am starting Becky's book tommorrow. [..."
oh and you remember Fiona nd me where generalizing about something once and he came in too. wrote a message to make clear what I meant and it was kind of okay after that...

you want my address?????:-))))

Allison her actions do make sense...don't they?

"I promise to abstain from purchasing new books until my to-be-read pile is looking more respectable and I must read the books I already own!"
We should really start a support group of finishing to-read books!

AA motto: One day at a time.
BA motto: One book at a time. :D
BA serenity prayer:
...grant me the serenity to accept the books I already own, courage to not buy any more......

I'll start over next month.

It was just the last two books in Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire (Sookie Stackhouse) Series. I'm waiting for the new one to come out in May...does it count if I pre-order the book and pay for it in April? ;)
What was funny was the bookseller's face: I bought those two books, along with The House of Mirth (Edith Wharton), Mansfield Park (Austen) and Lady Susan, The Watsons and Sanditon (also by Austen). Just an odd combination - 2 vamp books and 3 classics.

"I promise to abstain from purchasing new books until my to-be-read pile is looking more respectable and I must read the books I already own!"
I have already taken this pledge on my own a couple of years ago, but, as I work in a bookstore...it is just pure torture. Though...I do borrow books...I will not buy, I will not buy, I will not buy...

They do sell chocolate, don't they? Bookmarks???

They do sell ..."
Aren't you allergic to chocolate? tee-hee

They do sell ..."
HA! I don't really eat chocolate and use index cards for bookmarks. When I go into a bookstore I think my eyes glaze over & I go into a trance ;) Atleast that what my sister tells me. Oh, well. It's over.

"I promise to abstain from purchasing new books until my to-be-read pile is looking more respectable and I must read the books I already own!"
I have already taken this ..."
i pity you....sorry to say but out of own experience I know it won't work....:-)))0

I feel just a little guilty, but it felt SO good walking out of the store with new books!

jessica, how great that you got The loop. he is one of my favourite writers and that is my faviurite of his books. Have you read any of his other books?

Oh well, today is a new day and "I WILL NOT BUY ANYMORE BOOKS..." (God, give me strength!!!) :)

(Get Duma Key if you can. It's great! The audiobook was fantastic...)

We're allowed a slip-up every couple of weeks aren't we???

yeah my library has a book sale in a couple weeks too, I'm totally gonna break the book ban law if they have anything good :)

Mine has a sale on Saturday as well!!

I went to B&N today...... And didn't buy a single book! I'm still doing good in that respect!

I seriously don't know how you do it. I think abstaining would be hard enough, but I would never be able to walk into a bookstore, browse, and then come out with nothing. That's how I ended up wasting $42 on five books (I had time to kill and was "browsing" in B&N). That's a lot for someone who usually buys 8 or 9 books for about 20 bucks in thrift stores.

I am a total thrift-store addict though. I stay very far away from those now, because I know that I will NOT be able to avoid buying a book if I see it there. It might not be there when I come back, so I have to get it now, now, NOW! LOL. At least with B&N or Amazon they will order out of stock books, so there's no urgency there.

It is a hard thing to do when you love to buy books. I have literally used my last $5 to buy a book not once but several times. You all who have made the commitment to do this, I have faith in you. You can do it and I am living proof! I had to find an outlet to keep from going through "withdrawals" and I found that I liked cross-stitching. So I did that for a month or so until the "feeling" eased off.
You can do it, I am rooting for each and everyone of you!

Today, I just got a book in the mail & 2 books from Half Price Books. Can you believe I've never been in that store? I couldn't any of the books that I was looking for. I did find 2 books from some of the authors that I've read and liked though.
