Elizabeth (Alaska) It's a sickness. I'll be going to Nashville in a few weeks. You know, the town with all the country music stuff. Even if you don't just love country music, it seems reasonable to think I might look around at what makes this city so special. So do you know what just did? Looked to see what bookstores are within walking distance of my hotel. It's a sickness.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Well thats the only important thing though, right Jeane? ;)

I thought so tooo...

message 705: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments I knew already where it was before coming to dublin, how to go there, ow far.... and I went like 2-3 times in the first week and after that every week like that for the first month.

message 706: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I'm going to have to buy a book. But it's not exactly for pleasure reading. I'm helping my friend lead a Bible study and I need the book they're using. Other than that, I've been clean for around 3 weeks.

Anyone heard from Ich lately?

message 707: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I take that back. I won't be buying the book because I'm not going to be helping with the Bible Study after all. I'm a little disappointed because I was looking forward to getting the opportunity to sort of mentor girls that are younger than me, but it's OK because I won't have to miss my TV show on Mondays and I won't have to buy the book.

message 708: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Eh, I'm just proud of the personal growth that had to take place for me to even consider something that would interfere with the TV show. I could have just said, "Oh, Monday night. Yeah, I'm busy."

Elizabeth (Alaska) I have to admit I noticed immediately that there is a library not 2 blocks from my hotel in Nashville. I doubt they'd let me bring books home, though. Not that I won't drop by. They might have a cart or something with castoffs. Oops, this is supposed to be the I must-not-buy-any-more-books-thread.

message 710: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments I went two weeks without buying a book. Then someone gave me a gift certificate at Borders and of course I couldn't, NOT use it. LOL I broke down and bought two books.

message 711: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments LOL I bought Neverwhere and Howl's Moving Castle per your suggestion...hehe :~)

message 712: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) YOu're gonna love Howl's Lisa! It's my first Diana Wynne Jones, and it's terrific.

message 713: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) I hope you like Howl's Lisa...it didn't come quite as near to my heart as Graceling, but I loved it!

message 714: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Allison, you've been going on and on about Graceling so much that I had to move it onto my "To Get Post Book Ban" shelf.

It'd better be good! ;)

message 715: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Uhh.. And Howl's too... since I don't want Fi grumbling at me!

message 716: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) You'll love it Becky! I'm almost done - about 70pp. to go.

message 717: by Lorna (new)

Lorna | 15 comments I couldn't do it. I tried and failed. I just joined 4 Barnes and Noble book clubs and had to buy the books. Then I saw a buy 2 get one free sale at the store... I am hopelessly addicted. Library books don't work I take home more than I can possibly read. I recycle my books giving away to family and friends and only keep what I plan to reread.

message 718: by Liz (new)

Liz (hissheep) Here it is March 8 and I have yet to purchase a book! BUT I've been tempted often ...

message 719: by Debra (new)

Debra Know what you mean about tempted. I couldn't stand it any longer and ordered two books by Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston. My husband is going to kill me. Stop me before I buy again! :))

OH and Becky, I am reading Graceling right now and I am loving it. You definatly need to put it up on your TBR list.

I... I couldn't help it!

message 729: by Emma (new)

Emma Blue (litlover) | 2389 comments Ahh, okay well, I don't blame you for that one.

message 730: by Lisa Julianna (new)

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments so Becky do you have Graceling already or do one of us have to send it to you for you to read it? LOL

message 731: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) No... I don't have it yet. It's on the "To Get" list, but I will bend my rules if you're willing to send it to me!

I can be flexible! :)

message 732: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) See how quickly my rules and regulations go out the window. On chink in the armor and it all falls apart. LOL

Lisa Julianna (lisajulianna) | 1053 comments LOL are you in the US?

message 734: by Becky (new)

message 748: by yellowbird (new)

yellowbird | 55 comments Ok, who here wants to confess? I'm wondering who has the record for the most books bought at any one time. Used OR New.

message 749: by Andrew (new)

Andrew (dad-man) | 155 comments So, they blocked GR at my work, the only steady library access I have. I am still alive though, and by the way...

THIS IS DAY 26

Who's your daddy!?

message 750: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I bought 20 at once from the thrift store and paid a little less than $20 for them.

I've been doing pretty good though. I've had to revise my goals a little since I did accept a book in trade from a GR friend, but 1 book in 2 1/2 months isn't bad... right?
