SOLVED!!! girl whose brain was transplanted into monkey [s]

This is an older book. i think i read it when i was in middle school (1988-90-ish)

I remember it was about a youngish girl who awoke in a hospital, but she wasnt the same. Some freak accident or something caused a dr to transplant her brain into a monkeys head... so she was now a monkey.

I think the title had Eve in it. Does this ring a bell for anyone. i have no idea what made me think of it. but now it is driving me crazy.... I have to know what it was.

Glad to help! I read it a few years ago and liked it. Very odd y/a. I haven't read any of his other novels, but he did a nice job with "City of Gold," retellings of Old Testament stories.
