Oh, my! That's the kind of news story you don't like to see.
Where is he studying? My daughter is still at home, and takes the bus to campus.

where is your son studying, Michelle. We just arrived in NYC this morning... The news did not thril me either.
Welcome to the Big Apple, Hayes!
I love the Big Apple. If you get a chance check out Pearl River. Such an awesome shopping experience!
Will do, thanks for the tip. We're in a hotel on the west side, near the natural history museum... Just fab. I grew up on the east side, but this feels more like home, for some reason. All the hours i spent here, I guess.
Marialyce wrote: "Just a reminder that some of us are going to read Benjamin Franklin: An American Life starting on September 1st. I will post some threads on it soon."I'm struggling to get a copy via my library as the only copy is on long term loan :(
Marialyce, sorry it's taken awhile to get back to you regarding the Benjamin Franklin buddy read. Ron's work schedule was all messed up this week due to Issac. And this also affected getting our copy from the library. We'd ordered it a week or so ago and were only being told it was in transit and then that weather conditions had further delayed things. Finally today we got word it has arrived at our library branch so Ron will be set to start when everyone else is (fingers crossed).
I forgot you were down thataway, Dawn. Everything OK, I hope.
Ok Jeannette, as i mentioned elsewhere, i won't be joining the vanity fair read.
I'll take you off the list, Hayes. You made it through enough clunkers this year, so you earned it. :)
Thanks Sera. I have too much to do (a really big project until the end of October, unpaid, unfortunately) and Vanity Fair is not calling my name.

Hi all, Margaret, Jeanette and I are looking to start Fahrenheit 451 at the end of this week. Is anyone else interested in joining in? I hope so!
Oh dear... I have too many things to read! I'll pass, unfortunately. Next time round for me.

It's a re-read for me. It's one of my favorites.
I think so, Sera. I have Marialyce, Sera, Kate, Jeannette, Dawn, Chris on the list. I was thinking mid-November/Thanksgiving. How about you and everyone else?
I am ready to roll with the rest of the group. Looking forward to it. Starting in November, I will be reading 5 chunksters, which will comprise my non-audio reads for the remainder of the year.
Five? Which five? I've been juggling two books, plus a manga buddy-read, and that's more than I usually have going. I'm typically a serial reader.
Infinite Jest, which I am determined to finish by the end of the year, Bleak House, Vanity Fair, The Invisible Bridge and The Brothers Karamazov. The two latter are being read by the Chunksters group, and I am very behind. My goal is to squeeze Wolf Hall in, too, prior to Nov 1. I am going to try to start it tonight.
Happy New Year everyone! I really enjoyed all of our buddy-reads this year. All the best in 2013!
