Dancing Rain froze. "No... He can't... No..." She shook her head.

Dancing Rain snapped out of it and ran back. Why did he act so stupid? Why did she act so stupid? Ugh! She saw a flash of Rhymental and kept running.

Fang stared at her, his eyesight fading. He pointed his nose into the brush. Shard pushed away the bushes, and gasped. There, in the fading light, were the cougars, all dead.

Dancing Rain made it to the clearing. "No..." She sighed. "What do you keep trying to prove, Fang...?" She stared at him, not sure what to do.

Shard shook her head. "He tried to save you, Dancing Rain! Don't be ignorant!"

Shard snorted. "He was heir to be leader in my old herd. He would die to protect any horse that would be in his herd."

Dancing Rain shook her head. She doubted she would have been in his herd. The river was nearby... She had to clean out his wounds. She ran to the river and made a makeshift bowl, bringing it back and pouring water on the wounds.

Dancing Rain's eyes hardened. "You don't think I know that? He's saved my life more than once! Yes, to some it was courageous and kind. And to some degrees, it was. But it was also stupid. He could be killed!" She snapped at Rhymental.

"At least then I wouldn't be responsible for anyone else's death." She said coldly.

Shard shook her head. "Fang is strong; he won't die. But don't sacrifice yourself."
