Shard looked away. "It doesn't matter why. Just stop!" she suddenly lurched forward as his hoof hit the back of her neck.

Dancing Rain relaxed her position, then flinched. It took everything she had not to charge Fang right then and there. "Fine... I'll try..." She whispered in defeat.

Shard got back up. "Thank you."

Suddenly, she turned around and lashed out at Fang, her teeth bared.

Dancing Rain was shocked, but backed out of their way. She tried as hard as she could not to yell, and somehow succeeded.

Fang retreated slightly then lunged at her.

Shard danced on her hind legs and threw her hooves out at him.

You won't interfere, you won't interfere, you won't interfere, she repeated to herself. It was her mantra, trying to make it easier on Shard. He's showing off... that's what she said.. showing off... in an odd, male pride, way... you won't interfere...

Suddenly, they both stopped fighting. They both glanced at each other, then galloped into the woods. Shard looked behind her and nickered softly to Dancing Rain, a message of thanks.

Dancing Rain looked up in shock. What? She shook her head to clear it, her mane going every which way. That was enough excitement for one day... She galloped off to her meadow, where she lived.

Shard was grooming Fang, he grooming her. "Why were you so touchy today?" she asked.

Dancing Rain lay down and started grazing. She didn't get as much exercise as she wanted, but it was better than nothing. And she was pretty sure she made a friend today.

Shard decided to go for a little walk. She could smell fresh grass and followed the scent. Surprisingly, she found her way near to Dancing Rain. Her ears pricked happily.

Dancing Rain looked up to see Shard. She stood up almost instantly. "Hi!"

Shard flicked her ears. "Hello!" she gazed hungrily at the grass, but didn't eat. She didn't want to be impolite.

Dancing Rain saw her gaze at the grass.

"Go ahead." She tilted her head. "I don't want to be the cause of your dying of starvation." She grinned slightly.

Shard eagerly began grazing. "Don't mind my brother. He already apologized, and I forgave him. He's just," she searched for the right word. "overly protective, I guess."

"How does overly protective translate to acting like he's beating you up?" Dancing Rain rolled her eyes at his behavior. "Please tell me that all guys don't do that."

"Most of them anyways." Shard grinned.

"Note to self, avoid guys like Fang." Dancing Rain rolled her eyes again. "That may or may not be easy..."

Shard tossed her head. "Fang is extremely nice." she said. "You just have to be on his good side." she added.

"And how does one do that? Because I believe the unicorns do have their good sides... I can just never seem to get through to them..." Dancing Rain laughed to herself.

Shard snickered. "You're On my good side!"

Dancing Rain laughed. "I think this would be a first, actually. I'm... well, I act before I think. Or I act with the first think I think... Which usually ends... badly, to say the least."

Shard shook her head. "That made little to no sense at all. But whatever."

Dancing Rain stopped to consider that. "I usually don't."

Shard playfully nipped her. "So think before you act and then when you act, it will be thoughtful!"

Dancing Rain laughed. "I've tried that before.. too difficult. I don't see how unicorns do it..."

"I do it!" Shard said incredulously.

"Yeah, and I don't understand how. It's so hard..." Laughing Rain tried to remain serious, but she found that impossible, too.

"You are the sweetest little unicorn I have ever met!" Shard said, grinning.

"Thank you! You're the best Pegasus I've ever met... then again, I've only met you and your brother... So.. You're the best.. well, anything I've ever met."

Shard winked. "Check this!" she said. She spread her feathery wings, and then took flight, sailing into the skies, before gracefully landing on the ground again. "It's so wonderful..."

Dancing Rain gazed at Shard in wonder. "It looks wonderful..."

Shard rubbed her forehead against Dancing Rain's flank. "Someday you'll find out."

Ebony watched the unicorn and pegasus talking she shyly walked up to them and bowed her head in respect "hello my name is Ebony can i join you?"

Shard looked at the unicorn coming. "Of course!" she said, happily.

Shard resumed grazing as well. The grass was so sweet over here!

Shard shrugged. "Mostly just for show, because I was late for meeting him."

Shard snorted. "Not really. He just, I don't know, he just wants to show that he can protect me, I guess. Maybe prove to himself."

"Oh, hi, Ebony! I'm Dancing Rain." Dancing rain nodded her head.

Thirn gallopd through the trees, making hardly a sound. Suddenly she broke through and stood face to face with a few other unicorns. She stopped short in surprise but was over it in the next moment, already for anything, horn tilted slightly down, in a defensive position.
