Sarah (Sary-chan) | 4 comments Not sure when I read it, middle or high school (as in, it could very well be a lower-reading-level book).

A fair-haired 'princess' falls into a 'well' (though I'm pretty sure they call it something else, they treat like a crystal ball) and ends up temporarily going to school and living with a family that has a daughter her age whom she bonds with. Honestly, the thing that stuck out most to me was her love for Mascara when she finds out about it. Typical young girl reaction, I guess - but in her world mascara doesn't exist, and she loves it because it makes her super-light lashes visible. In the end of the story when she finds a way to get back to her world, the girl she's been staying with gives her the mascara she's been using. I know the story isn't based around silly make-up, but that's what sticks out in my memory. It was a good story and I'd like to add the book to my ever-growing collection C:

Natalie | 10 comments I don't remember the title either but I think I know what book you're talking about! It's a short chapter book, pretty skinny but I don't know if it was necessarily that low of a reading level. I read it in elementary but I think it was a little old for me... It had a bright/dark blue cover and the "well" you're talking about was more like a pond or reflecting pool? There was something about a bridge too... maybe it was on the cover as well?

It was definitely published before 2000. I read it in probably '98 or so and I don't think it was new then...

I hope this helps you or whoever else can come up with the answer!!

Clare K. R. (clare-dragonfly) | 55 comments Natalie, you're definitely thinking of Princess Nevermore. She falls through the well, which is really a sort of reflecting pool, and in the cover she's standing on a bridge.

Here's the cover I have: Princess Nevermore by Dian Curtis Regan

Sarah, I'm not sure if this is the same book you're looking for or not. She does temporarily go to school but I don't remember the family she stays with or anything about makeup--but then I might have just forgotten that part, I was never really into makeup!

I must have really liked this because I would have read it 15 or more years ago and it's still on my shelf.

Sarah (Sary-chan) | 4 comments Clare, I think you might be right. I wish I could find a free e-book of it just to make sure. If it's what I'm thinking of, I plan to buy it. I'm a book hoarder in progress xD

Otherwise, thanks everyone for your help/suggestions so far!

Sarah (Sary-chan) | 4 comments Huh. Now that I actually clicked and read the description, I'm pretty sure that's it, Clare. Thanks!!

Sarah, Should we move it to a solved or possibly solved folder, or would you rather return and confirm when you're sure? Thanks.

Clare K. R. (clare-dragonfly) | 55 comments Yay! I found a book for somebody! :D Glad I could help.
