retroj I've read 40000 in Gehenna and Cyteen, and I picked up a copy of Regenesis, but the cover says it is a sequel to both Cyteen and Downbelow Station. Should I go back and read Downbelow Station before Regenesis, and are there any other Company Wars books that I should read first? Thanks. No spoilers in this thread, please.

Victoria Gaile I think you probably should read Downbelow Station first, but I'm pretty sure it includes enough of the general background that you don't need to read any of the other Company Wars books.

If Cyteen is not fresh in your mind, I would reread it before reading Regenesis: I didn't, and it made it hard to follow some of the plot threads.

Enjoy!

Karen I went back and reread both Forty Thousand in Gehenna and Cyteen before I read Regenesis so I could revist the whole clone, don't clone artificial life conflict. All great books.

retroj I went ahead and read Regenesis without reading Downbelow Station first, and it was as I suspected - you don't have to read Downbelow Station first. I think the reason the cover says it is a sequel to Downbelow Station is just that Downbelow sets up the universe, but if you've read Cyteen, there's no problem going on to Regenesis. I wrote a review, too:

Matthew Corrado Ideally- Downbelow Station, The company wars novels (no particular order), Cyteen and Regenesis.
