Coin gave the order to bomb using a stolen Capitol hovercraft to frame Snow and trick his remaining followers into thinking he sacrificed a pen full of his own children to protect himself. Prim was there so that when she died, Katniss would be glued to Coin's side and ensure Coin's presidency.

I thought Gale was alright in the first book but he was more interested in Katniss as a "best friend/only hope for a wife." The other books he became more and more like President Colin, just someone who became "militarized." Did he care if Prim died by his or anyone elses actions? No I don't think so because Prim's death though tragic was just a casualty of war. I also believe Katniss hunted because it was food on the table while Gale hunted because he enjoyed it.


In all retrospect, Gale reminds me of Colonel Jessup from the movie "A Few Good Men."

And... why is he responsable of Katniss being confused about what she feels?! (in the second book). He is hurt by all the kisses of the first book! He's just a guy that's in love. Can you blame him? When he kissed Katniss, I think It was something expected...It had to happen. And, wasn't Katniss the one that kissed Gale in the second book when they took him to her house after the hole problem with Romulus Thread?...I'm pretty sure that one was her decision.... and that's why Katniss was also confused...but Gale didn't had to do with it, at all. I hate Gale. No shade or anything, in the beginning of the books, I liked him. Never loved him. The moment we get introduced to Peeta, Gale was already out of the picture for me. He's a good guy with a heart, always watching over his and Katniss' family. He just needs to accept the fact that Katniss' heart belongs to Peeta. Also, we don't really know for sure, but it was most likely Gale who inflicted Prim's death.
BUT can we talk about how frikin sexy Liam Hemsworth is?

Honestly I liked Gale and wanted him and Katniss to get together but then he started getting way to bothered by her and Peeta in the 2nd but in mockingjay I despised him. I liked him until that happened.

Peeta is actually a bit selfish as he just cares about if katniss loves him (announces his love for her publicly so she has no choice but to keep up the act). So yeah I’m team Gale forever <3xx

Thank you Christi for your comment at the top you are so right but Gale did even more worse things which you probably know since you seem to agree with me and hate Gale. Team Peeta 1000%
Book One: For one thing, he was SUPER dumb. When Katniss tries to shoot the deer that can feed both families get money for the families and can be traded for needed things Gale comes up all loud and just screams "What you gonna do with that when you shoot it?!" I MEAN SERIOUSLY????
Book One: He clearly insults Madge Katniss's only friend besides him and it's just pathetic it isn't Madge's fault that she is the mayors daughter and has more money than other people in 12 it is just her life and how she was raised. Plus she is giving him money for the strawberries she isn't being mean she is clearly helping him. UGH!!!
Book Two: Another thing is he just doesn't listen/understand Katniss. In the second book she is dealing with a lot of flashbacks and nightmares from the games and has to deal with the victory tour talking up how good the dead tributes then finds out there might be a rebellion that could kill the people she loves are and he just screams at her throws the stupid pair of gloves in her face and then goes "I love you!" And she confused about her feelings for the two dudes and is super scared about a rebellion that might happen and says "I know." And he is all mad at her again. SERIOUSLY DUDE SHE HAS TO DEAL WITH A LOT OF STUFF STOP PUSHING THE LOVE AND THEN YELLING AT HER AND THEN BEING LOVEY THEN HATING HER AGAIN YOU ARE JUST MAKING IT WORSE FOR HER!
Book Three: I don't even know where to begin. Alright so honestly he still doesn't understand her well. So he is all like "I want my communicuff. Wha wha!" and then she agrees to be Mockingjay with certain terms and one of them is SAVE PEETA (aka the best one) and Gale is all like "What no! Just because he is being tortured, his family is dead, he is convinced Katniss is evil, has been through the Hunger Games and didn't get the girl yet he still needs to be hurt more cause I am more broken. Whaaa!" IT'S LIKE DUDE YOU ARE A BIG WHIMP AND YOU ARE MEAN AND YOU WANT TO GET KATNISS AND YOU THINK THE BEST WAY TO GET HER IS BE A CRYBABY AND A JERK. WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU, GALE????!!!!!
Book Three: As Christi said (Bless you gurl) is that well Katniss wants the rebellion to end have Snow die and let Panem be free and peaceful Gale is off like "Weee! Let's bomb people so more peeps will want to kill us and then we can just bomb them! Lets have a fun death circle! hehehe!" What the heck? Then He bombs innocent Capitol people and the workers in thirteen, 'dude you totally know how to win Katniss over'

I loved Gale and I know Prim's death wasn't his fault. He thought he was making a bomb that would help the revolution, he didn't know what Coin was really planning on doing with them. Gale was always so selfless. He was Katniss' best friend until Peeta the Perfect shows up and even throughout the whole of the first Hunger Games where he sees her and Peeta's romance he takes care of her family anyway. After the Quarter Quell he saved her family again by getting them out of District 12 in time. During the war he hardly left her side and when he found out that Katniss loved Peeta he went to the Capitol and helped to rescue him just for her. Peeta did have his moments like when he volunteered in the Quarter Quell and helped save District 13 by warning them even though he was hijacked but Gale was her constant and I really respected him. Maybe it woudn't have worked out with them together as their fire and fierceness might have clashed but I would have loved to see them at least try. I am happy for Peeta and Katniss but I couldn't believe that she was able to move on and forget for the most part about Gale after all that he did and the big part he played in her life.

I DETEST Gale. He is annoying and is constantly whinging. I think that Gale should stop being so grumpy or shog off. I DO NOT CARE about your personal issues, Gale- you are a boring side character and nothing else. I think that Gale should go die in a hole.
For example, let's compare Gale to an actually good character like Peeta. Peeta is fun, he has personality (bread) and he adds to the plot. The only reason Gale is even in this book is so that he can provide the 3rd side for the love triangle which must be present in all YA novels. Gale has NO personality, NO ideas, No originality and NO interest from me. Gale spends all of the time he's not killing Katniss' sister being grumpy- I honestly don't know why Katniss even spared a thought on Gale- Peeta has bread and make lovely icing; what does Gale have?
In conclusion, Gale is a horrible, grumpy character who's always complaining about his many hardships and he is a waste of my time. Anyone who prefers Gale to Peeta is dishonouring the bread God's name and should be burnt at the stake. The Baker Boi is forever the best and Gale just looks even worse by comparison. I have 0% patience for mr. Hawthorne and would not care if he was pecked to death by a seagull so long as it did not eat Peeta's chips. The boy with the bread rules for LIFE!

He's a well-written character. Sometimes you like him, sometimes you don't. I think he wasn't given a proper ending— what I think is true with most of the characters. Mockingjay's ending felt rushed, and Gale simply leaving District 12, Katniss, and his character development behind, was kinda unfair.

Gale was a great friend to Katniss throughout her younger years of childhood, he helped her family stay fed while she was fighting and supported her mentally more-so, than her mother did at most times... which I felt was implied throughout most of the books. However, when Peeta and Katniss came back from the traumatizing games and understood each others pain in a way no other person could, I felt gale became jealous and ignorant towards Katniss's feelings at that point. He made a dumb decision dropping that bomb and killing one of the most important things in her life. I have pity on him. Katniss was strong for cutting him off at the end, and her strength throughout the series gave me a sense of strength in my day to day life.

I like his anger, and how he rants in the woods. I admire his fortitude.
I would be the sort of person to snap and scream in the square, and I would be fine with being flogged for it. If there was a character who was a mix of Gale Hawthorne and Sejanus Plinth, that would be a perfect character.

Gale would've been perfect for Katniss, if it weren't for the Games. Before she went I could totally see them becoming a thing. But Gale should've gotten over her when the whole Peeta thing happened instead of bothering her and pressuring her when she had so much to worry about.
