Randi (rs1987) | 5 comments i read a book when i was in middle school about a teenager that accidentally traveled back in time while cleaning out an attic or garage. they went back to the 1940s or 1950s i think. i know that it took place during winter, maybe around christmas, and the teen runs into their teenage parents. i think when they first traveled to the past, other teens were ice skating. i also remember that in the past world the character mentioned going to catholic mass in the only catholic church in town. in the "time travel" world the teen was gone for a few weeks and was worried that their family in their world would be worried, and when they finally found their way back home, they had actually only been gone for a couple hours and no one noticed. i cant remember what triggered the traveling, i think it was an old picture or artifact they found while cleaning. i know the book was written before 2000. im thinking between 1960 and 1995 maybe. the book wasnt that thick and in paperback form. i just remember that as a 13 or 14 year old i found this book fascinating, and checked it out in the middle school library and would love to experience it again. so if anyone has any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

Tej (theycallmemrglass) | 7 comments Hi Randi

I am a member of a Time Travel group where we have a "Can you help me remember" thread for time travel stories. So, I have repeated your post on there also. I'll relay if anyone suggests a title if none of the awesome guys in this group have already identified your book. Here's where I have repeated your post.

Natalie | 10 comments Could it be The Magic Attic Club? It's a series about a group of girls who try on costumes from a trunk in the attic and travel back to the time period of the clothes.

I know in the first one, The Secret of the Attic, they travel back to the 50s or so and meet the younger version of the lady who owns the house the attic belongs to, who falls through the ice while skating.

Randi (rs1987) | 5 comments I dont think that is the right book. This story I read had nothing to do with young girls trying on clothes to travel or anything like that. The story i read was just a teenager getting decorations from the attic while their parents were out and somehow finding an artifact that causes them to travel accidentally. Im pretty sure the book I read wasnt a part of a series either. It didnt seem like a book that could fit into a series. I may have to look back into your sugggestion and look it over once more. Thank you for your help :)

Randi, was that your book?

message 10: by bookel (new)

bookel | 4027 comments Multiple quotes prove it is the book.
Ice skating also includes Christmas.
mass
There's also a paragraph I brought up using keywords couple hours, where the characters are worrying about what their parents might be thinking.
I think you can mark it as solved.

It's a book that very much reminds me of Back to the Future.

Randi (rs1987) | 5 comments I apologize. I haven't been on in a long time. Yes this is the book! Thank you so much for all who help! :)
