Hi, Kylie. Feeling a bit overwhelmed. It's nice to know I'm not a newbie alone :)Kylie wrote: "Hi Mae, it is nice to meet a fellow newbie!"
Hi Mae. Congrats on your release date of Oct. I'm just one month after you with my YA in Nov with LPI.
Awesome, Joanne! Congrants to you too and many thanks for the welcome. :)Hi Mae. Congrats on your release date of Oct. I'm just one month after you with my YA in Nov with LPI.
I can so relate Mae about not doing anything about writing. I waited way too long. Always loved to read and forever wanted to write but didn't have the confidence.Nice to meet you!
Judith
Hi Mae, nice to meet you and thank you for your comment to me in the new readers thread. I think I feel like Judith. I've waited way too long to do anything but confidence is definitely my issue too. Kudos to all of you who have taken the plunge!Cadence
Hi, again, Cadence! :) I know that feeling of being overwhelmed. I've felt a lot of that lately, lol. If you want to build confidence, a good way to start is to find a writing grouup and share your work with others, asking for critique. I think it's the initial plunge that is always the most frightening!Mae
I think you're absolutely right (and so did my husband btw). I went to your site, it's really lovely! I've been exploring around there and I just started reading some of your story snippets. I am going to bookmark it and I'll be checking back to look around some more. Yours is the first author website I've really started looking at. I feel like it's the first step in getting involved with things.Cadence
:)
Many thanks for checking it out, Cadence. It's fairly new and I still have a lot of work to do with it. I had it "in the works" along with my blog before I made my first submission. Then Lyrical offered me a contract and I scrambled to get everything up online. You're right that the more you become involved, the more you'll feel like you're moving ahead. Just take one step at a time. I made the decision in December of 2011 to "do something" with my writing. That started with buying the domain name for my pen name, "Mae Clair." From there everything snowballed.
Hoping it does for you too!
Mae

I’m a new Lyrical Press author. Brand new! My first e-book “Weathering Rock,” a paranormal romance, is slated for release in October. I’ve been writing forever, but never did anything with my work until submitting last month. It’s exciting to have found a fit with Lyrical. I’m looking forward to learning the ropes and getting to know other Lyrical authors and readers.
You can find me at http://www.MaeClair.com, on my blog http://maeclair.wordpress.com, Facebook, Facebook Fan Page and Twitter. All of those were put together in the last month and my head is still reeling from doing it all!
I’d love to connect with you. Though I’m a new author, writing is in my blood. I read across multiple genres and don’t believe there is such a thing as “too many books.”
Oh, yeah - - I also have a fondness for werewolves, American history and cats. :)
