Christine | 850 comments If I can get my hands on a copy of Once Burned (Night Prince, #1) by Jeaniene Frost , I might be starting it Wednesday or Thursday. I haven't started either of the other series. Yet.

LOL, I was even contemplating putting the words 'for sure' in bold letters!

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Oh, Christine, you must start Downside! It's so unique and it'll suck ya right in. Although, some find the world and character personalities (traits) off putting. So, like everything it's subjective.

LOL Breann. Our posts, made at the time, were so similar. Too funny.

Yes I'm totally interested :) Once you're finished with book 1 we'll figure out when to start the next ones! Yay! :)

message 159: by [deleted user] (new)

Would anybody be interested in reading Nevermore (Nevermore, #1) by Kelly Creagh or The Name of the Star (Shades of London, #1) by Maureen Johnson with me ?

message 160: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Hi Kat! I'm interested in both! Would sometime in July be a good time for you?

message 161: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Sarah!, Yes I would love to read both with you, and anytime in July is good for me. We could read one, one week and then the other another week, It's really up to you I'm planing to read both in July anyway, so let me know what date/s are good for you and I'll be good to go :)

message 162: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Awesome! I already own both I just haven't gotten around to reading them. I will let you know closer to the start of July (so probably in a day or two) which days or weeks I can do it.

message 163: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds good to me Sarah,I own both as well, I've had Nevermore on my shelf for awhile now but The Name of the Star is a recent purchase for me, It sounds like such an interesting read I can't wait to start reading it.

message 164: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Oh Goodie! Hope you enjoy it, Christine (and others joining her)! Really looking forward to reading Chasing Magic soon.

Sarah, I'm all done w/0.5 & 1 of Alpha & Omega, so I'm ready to start on 2-3 whenever you are. Can we wait and start the 2nd wk of July? I need to catch up on my studies and DH is off a few days next week, so I'll have less time to read during that time.

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Steph, that sounds good to me!! I'll set up a thread for Hunting Ground.

ETA: Here's the thread

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thanks, Sarah. Lookin' forward to it.

message 167: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Sarah, just wondering if you have come up with any dates for our 2 buddy reads, I'm busy with a buddy read and Bingo this first week in July but any time after I should be all set to go, Let me know what your schedule is like and we can plan from there :)

message 168: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Hi Kat, after the 16th is open so any date after that is fine with me :)

message 169: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok, So I was thinking from the 17th to the 23rd we could read The Name of the Star and then from the 24th to the 31st we could do Nevermore. I can usually get 1 to 2 books read a week, when my work schedule is kind to me :) Hope that is ok?

message 170: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments That sounds great. Did you want me to set up the threads?

message 171: by [deleted user] (new)

sure go ahead and set up some threads for us :)

message 172: by Sarah (new)

A lot of pretty red Stars for Nevermore from my friends. I'm always amazed at how many times I think I might get in early on one to find out most of my friends already read and loved it...haha

I loved Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane ! I haven't the words to fully describe how much I loved that book.

message 175: by Lis (new)

Lis | 4037 comments Keep going Christine, they get better... IMO the last two have been the best.

message 176: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments I wasn't feeling the first book as much as the last three. I really liked City of Ghosts plus Sacrificial Magic and Chasing Magic are really good too.

message 177: by Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (last edited Jul 10, 2012 11:28PM) (new)

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments That's great news, I love how series keep on getting better in the sequels, kind of a reward for following them :)

Christine, when were you able to read the 2nd book - did you want me to set up a buddy read for it? I think I'm free in August, it's kind of busy until then.

message 178: by Christine (last edited Jul 11, 2012 05:06AM) (new)

Christine | 850 comments Jeann, I'd definitely be up for a buddy read of the next book in August. I have too many other buddy reads this month to work around or I probably would have continued with the whole series.

Jean ~ Kindle Queen (jkat9) | 370 comments Has anyone seen how many threads there are already for buddy reads? Awesome! Buddy reads are my favorite, and I'm glad so many of us are taking advantage of this part of the group. Kudos to everyone!

message 180: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments It's pretty impressive, I really enjoy doing buddy reads and it has gotten me to read books that I've been putting off.

message 181: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments The only problem is I keep starting all these great new series and I need to finish a few.

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments I love these buddy reads too Jean! I am enjoying them and definitely have started a lot of new series that I need to continue and finish.

Jean ~ Kindle Queen (jkat9) | 370 comments Christine wrote: "The only problem is I keep starting all these great new series and I need to finish a few."

That's my problem, too. : ) I'm going to try not to start a new series for a while to give me a chance to catch up on my other series. We'll see how long that resolution lasts...

I am absolutely loving how popular this has been. :D

Jean wrote: "I'm going to try not to start a new series for a while to give me a chance to catch up on my other series. We'll see how long that resolution lasts..."

Ditto! I have said that (and continue to) for years. I never seem to have the will power needed to avoid first-in-series books for long enough to finish my others. Good luck to ya!

Starting this group has done wonders for my resolve. bahahaha But, the bonus side - I have the best group of readers by my side to cheer on my addiction and join me in it. :D

message 185: by Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (last edited Jul 11, 2012 08:42PM) (new)

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Haha I've read so many more books since I've joined GoodReads in general!

It's gotten to the point where I need to start reading sequels because all of the slowness of building up relationships and world-building from the first books is kind of getting to me. I need to see what happens later on dammit!

LOL!

message 187: by [deleted user] (new)

It's early I know :) but would anybody be interested in reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness with me for the month of August?

message 188: by Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (last edited Jul 12, 2012 05:37PM) (new)

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments I'd be interested in both Kat! I have a buddy read on August 13th but besides that every other week is free. The Discovery of the Witches is a hefty book, lol.

Anyone want to read Pandemonium (Delirium, #2) by Lauren Oliver and Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1) by Wendy Higgins with me next month?

message 189: by [deleted user] (new)

That's Great Jeann I'll be happy to read both with you :)

I was thinking about doing A Discovery of Witches from Aug 1 to 12th cause it is a hefty book and then I planned to do The Night Circus from the 20th to the 31st, that's twelve days each so there would be no real pressure to get them done in a few days or anything. If these dates are good for you I'll set us up some threads tomarrow :)

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Ah that will be great! Good idea about having that book over 2 weeks, that way we can fit other stuff in if we need to (Bingo!). I'm good to do Night Circus for one week between 20-26th, but I'm cool with 2 too depending on you.

message 191: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm also doing bingo to so i'm good with 2 weeks for each book, i can usually read 2 books a week but since these are on the larger side i wanted to give myself lots of time

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments OK, sounds good Kat!

message 193: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Jeann, I LOVED Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1) by Wendy Higgins . Definitely my favorite YA for the year so far. I am so anxious for book #2, but no info on it yet.

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Yeah Steph I've heard all the great things about it and it's at the top of the to-read list!!

message 195: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

message 196: by Lis (last edited Jul 15, 2012 02:25PM) (new)

Lis | 4037 comments For anyone interested in the 2nd book in Rachel Vincent's Unbound series, an August buddy read has been added for Shadow Bound: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...

message 197: by Breann (new)

Breann | 0 comments Jeann, I would read Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1) by Wendy Higgins with you! Maybe mid-month? Let me know!

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments YAY I'm glad someone took me up on that offer! Sounds good, I'll set up the thread and we can decide on a time :)

message 199: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Yay! Loved it and can't wait to hear what ya'll think of it. :D

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Anyone want to read Feed (Newsflesh, #1) by Mira Grant with me next month? I'm in the mood for a zombie book and this has been on the TR pile for ages!
