message 60: by Julianne (new)

Julianne | 354 comments Is there anyone who actually hasn't read Fifty Shades of Grey (Fifty Shades, #1) by E.L. James ?

I've ordered it and am expecting it by May 4th...anyone want to buddy read? I can't be the only one who hasn't read it.

message 61: by Julianne (new)

Julianne | 354 comments *Gasp* I lied. My package just arrived. Forget buddy read, I'm starting this sucker now. lol

message 62: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments I haven't read it and I'm something like 230 on the library wait list. I'm afraid this will be yet another book that everyone loves but me, so I don't want to pay for it. I did download the free sample, but haven't read it yet either.

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Nope I haven't read it but it's in my to-read list somewhere :)

message 64: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I read a really good review of it and decided I wouldn't bother. I've read & loved plenty of BDSM but this sounded like it wasn't for me :)

message 65: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Apr 26, 2012 06:04PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Yeah, that series really shouldn't be chosen for the BDSM aspect (IMO), considering it's not a major part of the book. At least not like most of the BDSMs I've read. Sure, he's a "Dom" and has control issues, but the books are more about the dramas/relationship between the two.

They were addicting to me though, which was good/bad. I couldn't stop reading them, but wished I could've. LOL!

Really interested in your thoughts when you're done, Julianne.

Buddy Read?

Fury's Kiss (Dorina Basarab, #3) by Karen Chance is due out @ 2 Oct. (Dorina Basarab Series by Karen Chance)

Anyone interested in joining me for a re-read (or 1st read) of Midnight's Daughter (Dorina Basarab, #1) by Karen Chance - Death's Mistress (Dorina Basarab, #2) by Karen Chance (#1-2) prior to that? Maybe in Sept, so there isn't a long wait until #3?

message 66: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Yep, I'm in. Cause for sure I'll be reading #3 as soon as it hits my hand. LOL.

message 67: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments I'm in. It'll be my first read but at least I can knock off one series from my list. Sept should be great!

message 68: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Yay! I'll go ahead and create threads now, even though it won't start for a while. I'll have to post a note on my calendar so I don't forget to read them. LOL!

message 69: by Christine (new)

Christine | 850 comments I might join you, too. I've read her Cassie Palmer series, but I've never gotten around to this one. And may e by October I'll have cleaned up some of my other series so I won't feel bad about starting yet another one.

message 70: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments At least it's only the third book in the series that's coming out Christine. You aren't too far behind :)

True. And I usually like to wait until there are about three books out in a series before I start anyway. That way, if I like the first one, I can jump right into the next ones. Plus, I find it sometimes takes two or three books to really get hooked on some series.

I'd be up for a buddy reread of the first two before the third comes out. It has been a while since I read them and I need to catch again.

I'm usually like that too Christine but not with Dory. She had me right from the first. The fact that you know some of the characters if you have read the Cassie Palmer series helped me, but I justed loved Dory right off.
I can't wait for the next one to come out.

message 73: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I actually read Dory before Cassie and loved them both :)

message 74: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I read Cassie #1 as soon as it was released, same for Dory, and love them both. If I had to pick, I enjoy Dory a bit more. But, I adore Pritkin, so it's close. I'm just happy we have both and don't have to choose. :D

I really liked the writing in the first Cassie book, but all the time travel stuff near the end completely confused me. It took me about two years to finally go back and read the rest of the series. I'm glad I finally did, because I really enjoyed them (love Pritkin). I picked up the Dory books, but just haven't gotten around to them yet.

message 76: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I have the same problem some times, Christine. All the time travel can get confusing, especially when you read them years (or close to) apart.

I hope you enjoy the Dory series. Feel free to join us in Sept for the re/read of #1-2 in prep for #3. :)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments I can't start any buddy reads until May 21st. Anyone interested in any of these books?

Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville, #1) by Carrie Vaughn Unbroken (Outcast Season, #4) by Rachel Caine Working Stiff (Revivalist, #1) by Rachel Caine Blood Bound (Unbound, #1) by Rachel Vincent Hard Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #4) by Chloe Neill

Plus I'm thinking of doing a series reread of Rachel Morgan by Kim Harrison, because I haven't read the two most recent releases:

Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison The Good, the Bad, and the Undead (The Hollows, #2) by Kim Harrison Every Which Way But Dead (The Hollows, #3) by Kim Harrison A Fistful of Charms (The Hollows, #4) by Kim Harrison For a Few Demons More (The Hollows, #5) by Kim Harrison The Outlaw Demon Wails (The Hollows, #6) by Kim Harrison White Witch, Black Curse (The Hollows, #7) by Kim Harrison Black Magic Sanction (The Hollows, #8) by Kim Harrison Pale Demon (The Hollows, #9) by Kim Harrison A Perfect Blood (The Hollows, #10) by Kim Harrison

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Hi Sarah, I'm definitely interested in:

Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville, #1) by Carrie Vaughn and Dead Witch Walking, I own both of these in hard copy and haven't had time to read them yet.

message 79: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Hi Jeann! I'm so glad you're interested. We can start Kitty and the Midnight Hour and then read Dead Witch Walking. After we finish Dead Witch Walking if you want to continue the series we can do that and if you don't then that's fine too :D

What day is good for you to start?

Jeann (Happy Indulgence) (happyindulgence) | 1151 comments Oooh I think we have Red-Headed Stepchild (Sabina Kane, #1) by Jaye Wells the week of May 21st, so how about the week after for Kitty and the Midnight Hour? (or anytime after)

message 81: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Ok, that sounds good to me! :) I will set up a thread when I get home later.
