The Eternity Code question

I think ( not dissing the value of the series) that the first book was the climax and the second and third book was a slow and steady fall. I am on book six now and will not spoil but I think Colfer was a genius to let the excitement rest a while and then put explanations into play.

Eternity code is awesome. But trust me the books just get better.

I am currently reading the third Artemis Fowl book. At the end of the second book, Artemis befriends the fairies, and they are both on good terms. Therefore, in book three when he desperately requires their help to save Butler, Captain Holly Short come to his aid. I have realised that the bond between Holly and Artemis especially has grown for the better since the ending of book two. I think this is because Artemis himself has grown to be more kind compared to the first book. As for Holly, I think she starts to trust him because Artemis had saved her life in the second book when she almost lost her finger in Murmansk while they were searching for Artemis' father.
