Thanks Regina, I will give both of them a try. I am really curious about How to Kill ending, everyone mentions it.
Leea, well the Hunger Games is okay. The writing is great, just uncertain about the actual storyline. Kids killing kids for a game is hard to digest, but I wanted to read it before I see the movie.

Actually, their names start mostly Cs. The 5 sons are named Colby, Colt, Cam, Cord and Carter; their parents are Carson and Carolyn. Most of the time, I have to think it through to figure out who's who.

And now they have SO MANY KIDS - at least 3 a couple...some have 4 or 5 and a bunch of the women were all pregnant. In this book there was mention of all of those kids and it was crazy to figure out who's who - because first you think...this kid is who's son? And who's the father? (I thought of that TV show while I was trying to think it through...you ARE the father!)

message 403: by Leea (new)

Leea Haha! That's right C. It's because their going at it like rabbits ;)

D.G. Mimi wrote: "I love Leslie Parish's writing. One of better suspense writers. if you start Grimspace do let me know what you think of it. I've been thinking of starting it for a while now."

I'm really tough on romantic suspense writers (I'm a mystery reader after all) so I hope I really like this one. :) And you know I'll def. comment on what I think of Grimspace. I'm not known for keeping my mouth shut! LOL!

message 405: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Mimi I think you would love Grimspace. It is a toss up if DG would though. LOl. I think DG may not like the main character. But it is a great series.

message 406: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I am loving Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn . I can't read fast enough.

I really enjoyed Grimspace but I haven't read many sci-fi books so I don't have many books to compare it to. But since I enjoy UF, it kind of reminded me of UF but in space....if I'm making any sense.

message 407: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It is definitely more like UF. It is character driven and not very science-y. :)

message 408: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I have had my eye on that book for a long time Kay. I love the cover.

So is the Kristen Ashley series The Gamble (Colorado Mountain, #1) by Kristen Ashley -- similar to Troubleshooters and Virgin River? I am done with TS and almost done with Virgin River and am very sad to be leaving the VR world. :( So I am looking for a replacement.

message 409: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I've had it on my list too but decided to start it now bc I've been wanting to read something epic ever since I finished The Bronze Horseman. And it is living up to everything that people have said.

I read Rock Chick #1 by Kristen Ashley but thought it was just ok. I will be giving The Gamble a try in the future. There seems to be a ton of people who love her books.

I still have many VR books to read. I'm sorry you have finished them already. But the series isn't over tho, right? She's still planning to write more, I hope.

message 410: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) She is. I have been reading at both ends. I am almost done with 10. But I also have read 16 and up. So I only have a few more that are unpublished. 19 is out in a few weeks.

message 411: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Did you read it out of order? If you did, did you feel like you missed some stuff.

message 412: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I read it sort of out of order. :) I was progressing at the lower end and only in order 1, 2, etc and then I requested 15 on netgalley and have been reason those in order. So in a way I skipped a chunk and in a way I am stil going in numerical order but just at opposite ends. I think because I had read the first 5 already and those form the core people it was okay. I did learn about some new key members and deaths before I read those books. But I was okay with that.

message 413: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I really want to read about that teenage girl & boy from the first 3 books. I forgot their names but their story was so heartbreaking. But knowing me, I will most likely read it in order though.

message 414: by Regina (last edited Apr 08, 2012 07:05PM) (new)

Regina (reginar) I think their story was somewhere between books 6 and 9. :) it was a sad but good one.

Regina, I read these and I liked them. It's a mix between a Virgin River type town but the men are not like Jack. They're more demanding and controlling. Not sure if it's something you would like... They're not as good as VR, IMO

Kay, I finished reading at book 11, in the VR series. Where did you end? We could continue together :)

Oh, I forgot their names but that was a wonderful story. It was just so real and I loved the way Carr handled it all. So heartbreaking.

message 416: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Leea, I only read up to book 3 or 4. So, I have a long way to catch up on. LOL Do you think that you'll be in the mood for Daughters of Rome this week? I'm so enjoying Mistress of Rome and have a feeling that I'll want to start the next book after I'm done.

message 417: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah! I'll start looking for it :) Just let me know when you finish Mistress of Rome :)

message 418: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Ok. Yay! I'll let you know. I'll probably be done w it tomorrow night at the latest.

It's on my TBR list, and when I'm in a UF mood I'll start it. Just after Chessiebomb :)

message 420: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Thanks Leea.

By the way I am just at 11. :)

message 421: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Decided to read Fade to Black (Black CATs, #1) by Leslie Parrish for my bingo shelf. I'm not crazy about serial killer plots (always find them ridiculous) but I'm really liking the couple. The hero was instantly attracted to the heroine but not only the physical...by her actions, he felt he learned a lot about her. At some point, he thinks something like: She's calm, levelheaded, smart, capable and sexy. Where has this woman been all my life?

I found it refreshing that he was attracted to her personality more than anything.

Dnelson | 11 comments Kay wrote: "Each couple is different & you meet some of them in the first book. I loved how the sex happened right away in One Reckless Summer!! And you're right, it is effen hot!!"

Thanks for the rec for this book, I was able to get it from the library, and i devoured it in a day! I am tempted to read more in the series, but my library doesn't have books 2 and 3 (I hate when they do that) so, my question is, is it worth buying those? Are they as good as the first one?!

message 423: by Leea (new)

Dnelson, I loved the first book, One Reckless Summer (Destiny, #1) by Toni Blake but I just didn't connect with the other stories and they felt forced to me. Except the third book.

Have you read Virgin River (Virgin River, #1) by Robyn Carr series?

message 425: by Regina (new)

Okay! Virgin River 11.1 is a free download and 12 is in an anthology (which is being shipped to my library right now), 13 returns to the normal format. I can start whenever you like. :)

Sheltering Hearts (Virgin River, #11.1) by Robyn Carr Midnight Kiss (Includes Virgin River, #12) by Robyn Carr Promise Canyon (Virgin River, #13) by Robyn Carr

message 426: by Leea (new)

Leea If you want we can start Sheltering Hearts (Virgin River, #11.1) by Robyn Carr ? I'm not really wanting to read UF right now.

message 427: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Okay cool! I can start today? :)

message 428: by Leea (new)

Leea Great! I've already got it on my nook ;)

Plus, it's short and i've got a sick kid at home.

message 429: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh no!! I hope he gets better. :(((

Have you seen the reviews for Sheltering Hearts? I guess Carr wrote it as a special submission for an event on women's issues so it is not a typical Virgin River series. Even the hardcore VR fans are giving it 2 stars, I guess it is not really about the series .... I am open to try it though. But I am also open to skipping it. :)

message 430: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Dnelson, I liked all the Destiny books. But I don't know if it's worth it to buy just b/c I don't like buying books. Borrowing is more worth it. Since you liked One Reckless Summer, you might want to try Tempt Me Tonight by Toni Blake which is a stand alone novel but still set in a small town.

Now that i've read the first few pages, I remember starting this and putting it down. Let's move onto the next book, Midnight Kiss. I need to find it :)

message 432: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Great! Have you already started it Midngight Kiss?

Thanks for the rec! I will try to check it out. I def prefer borrowing, but I don't have any other option! FRUSTRATING! I think I can get some used copies at a reasonable price though.

message 434: by Leea (new)

Leea Regina wrote: "Great! Have you already started it Midngight Kiss?"

No, I'm going to go look for it.

message 435: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Okay! I can only search in a limited way at work, but in the limited way I can search ;) it appearas to be $4.72 at Diesel and $4.99 at Amazon.

message 436: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, I saw that. Not sure if I want to spend $4.99 for it from BN.com. May skip it and join you for Promise Canyon (Virgin River, #13) by Robyn Carr , because I already have that one.

message 437: by Leea (new)

Leea Now that we have all that settled... I'm going to start Midnight Kiss right now :)

message 438: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Lol! Me too. It is lunchtime here. :)

message 439: by Leea (new)

Leea sweet, it looks like a short one.

message 440: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Yes!

message 441: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Okay, I am not currently picking a bing book. I am completely updated, but many of my teammates aren't, so I will give them a chance to catch up and then choose my book. :)

I am reading with Leea Midnight Kiss (Includes Virgin River, #12) by Robyn Carr (just the Virgin River story) and I am listening to The Bourne Identity (Jason Bourne, #1) by Robert Ludlum and I am also reading The Walking Dead, Vol. 2 Miles Behind Us by Robert Kirkman Wool 3 Casting Off by Hugh Howey Gardens of the Moon (Malazan Book of the Fallen, #1) by Steven Erikson

message 442: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Everybody in my team is up to date except for one person and she's missing a bunch of the books. If it weren't for her, we would have 4 in a row in two different rows/columns (which would give us a decent chance to win.)

message 443: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) That is frustrating. I lost count on my team. And this week's shelf wouldn't even get us 3 in a row. So I am going to wait and see what happens. I have a feeling that next week it will be a shelf announcement that will win it for a team. We do have some where we could have 4 in a row on two or three columns -- but they are not completed.

message 444: by D.G. (new)

D.G. This week gives us 3 in a row for 2 different columns and I'm continue reading because I like to keep participating.

I have to say the game in Pick A Shelf was more fun because it was individual.

message 445: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Which group are you guys playing this game in? Is it like bingo? It sounds fun.

message 446: by D.G. (new)

D.G. The group is called Serious Overload of Series and the game is like Bingo but instead of numbers, GR shelves are called out and the team members must read, rate and review a book from that shelf.

message 447: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) IT is a lot of fun!

Where is Pick a Shelf hosted?

message 448: by D.G. (last edited Apr 09, 2012 12:14PM) (new)

D.G. Pick A Shelf is the name of the group but the game I'm referring to is called Snakes & Ladders. Click below for the rules and the gameboard:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7...

The only thing is to enjoy it, you have to read from lots of different genres. I'm already in my second round - I finished second in the game by reading 16 books and had to read from shelves like philosophy and spirituality but there were so many other general shelves that it wasn't too big of a deal.

message 449: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments That all sounds fun. It's nice to put a spin on reading to make it entertaining. Not that reading is boring but it's cool to have a different way to choose a book.

message 450: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) That looks like fun. The fun of bingo is in a big part team dependent.
