Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Oh, Fallen from Grace is on my list. I'll check it out...maybe I'll join you.

I liked Hearts of Darkness. It's a novella but so short. It would have been nice to see how others would react to them together in their everyday lives.

D.G. Congrats, Stacia & Regina on your anniversaries. ;)

Mine is coming up (in July.) I've been married almost 11 years now. The funny thing is that it seems like we met yesterday but in a sense I cannot even remember my life before him.

message 1653: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I can't believe I've never recommended you Fallen from Grace. I thought I had told everybody about that book. :)

I really like Kristen Ashley, having said that the books i've read of hers do have some editing issues for sure. I've been on a contemporary romance kick. Sometimes when life is moving so fast I just stick with a fun, light and easy to read genre.

Kelly, I'll let you know how Law Man goes. I can't wait to read about Mitch.

Leea Stacia, Have a blast! Yes, well need all the details. 10 years is a big deal.

Regina, how long have you been married? Our 10 year is next year.

***Edit, didn't see the page change... 17 years. That's awesome!!!

message 1656: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) My anniversary is June 25th.

It's interesting because it really makes me realize how long we've all been chatting in here. I remember last year when it was Stacia's anniversary!

Fallen from Grace, that's the one I want to read. Worst cover but I keep hearing how great it is. Can't wait for your review.

Regina (reginar) 17. We were kids when we got married. We were married years before we had kids. I planned my wedding in 2 weeks. It was a last minute impulse thing.

what anniversary will it be Wendy?

I know, I remember that. We've been chatting in here for a long time. I love this group of ladies :)

message 1660: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I love it too. We'll need our own anniversary get-together of our own. :)

I was 25 when we got married and I thought that was young. We booked the place we got married at about a year in advance but it didn't take me long to plan our wedding. My dress cost $100 but the food was over $4,000 lol!!

I think it's great!! I have to say at 7 years of marriage I had a hard time. Not sure why, but I was just hard.

Regina (reginar) That seven year old itch. :)

Mine was seriously unglamorous, but I don't mind or regret it. My parents might though and my Grandpa (who wasn't even at the wedding since it was so improntu - -cried when he heard about it).

The food and drink will always be the killer. :)

Yeah, we were younger than 25. It was silly, but I guess it turned out. We actually were "separated" for about 4 years. Although we still lived together (if we were in the same city - -I was going to grad school so we were in different locations) and we were dating other people. Although we constantly still hooked up. It was not healthy, I am sure but it all worked out.

Who knew, there really was a seven year itch. My girlfriends really helped me because we're always so honest about our marriages. No one is perfect and knowing that someone else has felt that was really helps.

Do you ever look at your wedding pictures and think "that girl didn't know anything?" We have 2 hung up in our living room and I sometimes just look at us and we're so young and didn't know Shit!

My wedding wasn't fancy or anything. We got married on the water in Half Moon Bay at this Bed and Breakfast where we used to go all the time and where jim proposed. We're not fancy people but we love good food :)

message 1665: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Food is super important. :)

I do think that Leea, that is funny. I also think -- wow, I wish I could go back to knowing nothing!

My son always looks at my wedding picture and says, "mommy you were so beautiful. So skinny and beautiful." yeah, well that was when I was 21. Everyone is skinny and beautiful. :) Luis (my husband) will say, "Nah, she is prettier now." What a charmer. (and a liar ...)

My husband says all the time that I look better now. He's a charmer too but I think he means it.

LOL!! Yeah, let's go back to knowing nothing and in love bliss. haha!

My husband looks better with age, he's in better shape now - the man makes me sick.

message 1668: by D.G. (new)

D.G. We got married at City Hall. John told me...do you want a wedding or a 3-week honeymoon in Italy? (We couldn't do both.) I went with the honeymoon and never regretted it. :)

The first year was the most difficult for both of us. I think it took my husband a while to realized that this marriage would be different than his first. Also, I wasn't used to relying on another person and it took me a while to realize he was there for me.

message 1669: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Well since we were so young, my husband was still growing and more of a man now. Men aren't really man like until 25, lol. So yeah, he looks better now. He plays on 3 soccer teams through the week though, he has a soccer player's body. Its hard to complain.

I am sure he means it too, I was probably too thin for his tastes back then when I was a size 2/4 he definitely prefers a size 8. ;)

message 1670: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, good choice... Italy for 3 weeks.

My brother just celebrated their 1st wedding anniversary, they had a $30,000 wedding - that's just nuts!

There we're moments when Jim said, "We could just fly to Vegas right now... come on :)" but I had already paid the dang caterer. lol!

message 1671: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) DG I think you made the right choice! :) Don't most divorces happen that first year? So I think what you are saying makes sense.

Luis and I were so into partying, having fun, going to school that we were not really acting like a married couple until after I finished law school and we had a kid. Then it was like -- oh wow, we are married and not just a couple having fun. That was when we were 27. Going to work everyday and coming home and doing that entire thing was challenging. Being in school is hard, but ... so easy and carefree. We had no schedule, except for classes -- so complete freedom to just stay up all night, go out, etc. It is hard to have problems when you are just having fun. :)

message 1672: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Haha, Jim sounds very fun. The devil on everyone's shoulder. You helped organize the wedding?

Where in Italy did you go DG? Did I tell you I lived there for four months when I was pregnant with my first kid? I loved it. I had been backpacking by myself through Europe (pregnant, it was dumb) and I arrived in Venice off of a train from Prague, hungry and tired and I went up to a food vendor and I understood what they were saying (since I spoke Spanish) and they thought I was Italian (b/c ethnically I am), I almost cried. I felt like I was home. I still miss it. My apartment was in Florence, but traveled all over. I loved Rome. That sounds cliche, but I loved it.

message 1673: by Leea (new)

Leea See Jim and I started living together within the first 4 months of dating (I know, but we've known each other since I was 16) and he bought his 1st house when he was like 23... I have a vivid memory of me studying for a final in our first house, wearing a mask because jim was sanding our hard wood floors.

4 houses, 2 kids and a dog later :)

message 1674: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) four houses! :)

message 1675: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) We have lived in 7 apartments and 2 houses (I also had 4 other apartments mixed in there during that time period when I was living in different countries/states for school). For my bar admission application I had to list every apartment I had since I was 18, it was crazy -- thank goodness I am a pack rat when it comes to documents I had all the old leases. There was so many of them. I hate moving.

He is... always getting me candy or things I shouldn't eat. haha!

Yes, I did my whole wedding. I help my MIL coordinate weddings sometimes on the weekends. I did all my own flowers, I can't imagine paying someone to do what I already know how to do. My older brother and his partner did decorate my cake with flowers, it looked awesome!

Pregnant and backpacking... that's crazy! Oh, youthful innocence :)

message 1677: by Leea (new)

Leea Regina wrote: "four houses! :)"

Yep, we'll move again too. That is if we can sell this house. My husband can hang a picture like no one else. Poor guy, we moved into this house when I was 7 months pregnant with Gar and I was nesting so bad, I was a crazy women.

D.G. Regina wrote: "Where in Italy did you go DG?"

Venice, Bologna, Florence, Arezzo (this is where they filmed the movie 'Life is Beautiful), Sienna, Pisa, Grosseto (we visited John's childhood friend there) and Rome.

We spent 2-4 days in the bigger cities and just one day in the smallest ones. It was an awesome trip and I loved Florence. I envy you that you got to live there!

message 1680: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Reading all your posts makes me feel like I'm not alone. Ha! I also had that 7 year itch...or maybe 5. I married young too. I was 19 and the hubby was 25. We didn't even tell our family until 2 years later. It was easy to hide this since we were away...both in the military. I don't know what I was thinking then...probably cuz I didn't know shit either. LOL I'm not sure if I'd still marry so young if I knew all the shit I know now. But it has all worked out and we've been married 13 years. It hasn't been easy but we both seem to have found our stride and rhythm together.

message 1681: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay, that sounds like me and my husband in a way. What were we thinking? LOL. But you are right, it did all work out.

DG that sounds like a wonderful trip! I liked Florence, but I preferred other locations. I wish I could go back again. It has been 13 years.

message 1682: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) We're going on our 9 year anniversary. It's so easy to keep track of it because I got knocked up on our wedding night. Lex is 8, that means we'll be married 9 years, haha.

I had a nice wedding, especially because I did veyr little of the planning. We had it outside at my husbands sisters house. About 75 guests. I did NO planning, all i did is say who I wanted there and what my colors, flowers, songs and stuff was. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law did all the work, bless their wonderful hearts.

I know that's weird to say, but I was probably the least bridezillay bride ever, hahaha.

message 1683: by Leea (new)

Leea We sometimes do a marriage class at our church and they say after 9 years it gets easier and that people who are married 13+ years say it gets better and better.

This sept we will be married 9 years (same as you Wendy). That 7 year itch, man I remember looking at Jim and thinking... for the rest of my life? I don't know? lol!

My husband is my best friend and he's always there for me. I really cannot imagine my life without him. He's funny and we laugh all the time, even when we're fighting.

I love this Kay!!!!! Thanks for sharing! I thought 21 was young but you beat me :) I will turn 7 year married in July (crossing fingers for no itch? lol) The important thing is that you found ways to make it work, I admire that! No one tells you it's as hard as it is, but definitely worth it when you figure it out. :) Definitely agree with you girls, honeymoon tops wedding, all the way!

D.G. Good morning, ladies!

I just finished About That Night (FBI / US Attorney, #3) by Julie James and it was just OK. These heroines are starting to seem interchangeable.

Now I need to decide what to read next. Most likely I'll pick up The Storyteller by Antonia Michaelis , which I got from Lendle and it's due on 5/31.

message 1687: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) I love hearing everyone's stories! My husband and I have been married for 14 years but together for 20. But he still makes me laugh harder than anyone else which is nice.

Congrats Stacia. I hope when you do read this, it is with a relaxed, happy glow. :)

And you're all making me want to go back to Italy so badly. It's spring and I get major wanderlust. Too bad the bank account doesn't support that right now. Guess I could sell a kidney...
