Is there someone for everyone? Even me?
Time is passing and the Y Generation have now become young adults. During this social period computers and the Internet have become household items, at least in the Upper and Middle classes. Online gaming has now become a subculture complete with language, social activities and dress. The word 'geek' has become more a description of an alternate subculture than a derogatory term. Daltry and Clarke take us on a wacky trip into the world of computer geeks, as they follow the hectic lives of Katie Garretty and George Lindell. Will this young woman and man come together in a sweet romance, or will they be doomed to remain single forever? Does being a computer geek mean you can never have self-respect, or can these young people grow in self-confidence? Will the pair ever battle their way to the end of Fatal Destiny, the game which dominates their young lives? Backward Compatible is a romantic comedy that will entertain those who enjoy reading New Adult or Young Adult fiction.

Thank you...I just got into the series...I Love it.

Also currently re-reading the throne of glass series- which is just as freakin' awesome to read as the first time.

Is HEA always expected in romance? Just a curiosity because maybe I'm in the minority that doesn't always like HEA?
i'm reading Priest by Sierra Simone - has anyone read it? Was interested in the forbidden aspect of the love story but its turned into this Fifty Shades type story.
But I'll keep going with it

audiobooks are really good Maggie. to me, they help bring the books to life. the narration really brings the characters out. especially if the narrator is good. it's almost like watching a movie but in ur own head.
i prefer audiobooks now cause i can get more books read. i listen while driving to and from work, before i go to bed, while washing dishes. i seem to have less time to read a physical book, so the audios really help me continue doing what i enjoy. reading. hehe
u should definitely give one a try. Beneath This Mask, Backstage Pass, Succubus Blues, Moon Called are some really narrations. u can do audible free for one book. also try Overdrive. u borrow books from ur library through this site. they have e-books and audiobooks.
let me know what u think of audiobooks once u try one =D

Restless by Michelle Bellon
Funny, romantic, sexy…a love story.
You grow up. You get married. You have a family. At least, that’s what Malea Winters believes she’s supposed to do. So why is it that every time she comes close to finding that happily ever after, she runs?
When she meets Garrett Taylor, she warns him that she’s not the marrying type because history has shown that long-term relationships are not her forte. She has a tendency to leave when things get too serious; the direct result of being raised by an emotionally detached mother and a stepdad with philandering ways. So she swore off men and surrounded herself with her best friends; three quirky, funny women who are facing challenges of their own.
But Garrett is everything she’s ever looked for; charming, successful, fun, and sexy. Despite her better judgment, his persistence pays off and she finds herself falling for him.
Learning how to love and be loved will be the hardest lesson she’s ever faced. The question is, will her relationships survive that lesson?

I'm reading Fall of Poppies. Novels about First World War, I live in France, precisely in Lorraine, a region ravaged by the War. I grew up with stories about this war. And honestly, when I saw there is a novel by Beatriz Williams and another by Jennifer Robson, I knew the anthology was for me :D

to help alleviate my shock and sadness i've started

glad ur enjoying it Anna =D

I've just taken a look at your profile and favourite books. We share some favourite authors for instance, Tess of the D'Urbervilles is one book that is seared on my memory. It is the only book I have thrown across the room in sheer despair and anger at what happened to poor Tess. I'm not the sort to chuck books around usually, but Tess, well...!

I have no idea why I have stayed away form Mafia stories...
This book changed my mind.
Pick it up...or download it..
Worth every syllable.

hey Anna. no i haven't read Jeeves and the Wedding Bells. it's cool that we like some of the same books. Tess is one of my all time favorites. after that book i've wanted to read all of Thomas Hardy's books =D
at one time i was really in to classics. it's been a while for that though. i want to read Far From the Maddening Crowd soon. there's something about Hardy and his work. it's absolutely moving. i can understand why u chucked ur book across the room. i know i was sad for a good week after reading Tess.
have u read any of his other works?

Once a reviewer compared my writing to Thomas Hardy and that affected me. I couldn't believe it, I couldn't concentrate for the rest of the day! I hadn't tried for that, but I think TH had gone so deep into my psyche that it was seeping out!
Wuthering Heights is another one on your list which I feel has stayed with me all my life. I got so deep into it, I was there.
Of course, I love Austen too, especially P & P.
I live in Dickens' country, close to towns which he wrote about and that's a real bonus.

Wuthering Heights is also one of my favs. such a deep novel. totally engrossing. it's awesome that a reviewer compared ur writing to Hardy. that's such a great compliment. if i were a writer i'd want to be compared to him. i'd be on cloud 9 for a long time. hehe
living in Dicken's country has to be inspiring. how cool. hopefully u get some of his vibes now and then. hehe

If I listen to them on audio first, I don't get the chance to dwell on a particular phrase, or stop and take things in. I can remember the scene in Tess where she decides to Christen the baby herself and I had to stop. I ached for the way things were, and perhaps still are. It really hurt. That would have been lost if it were on audio as the reader would be on to the next scene, chapter even, before I could start listening again!
I take much longer than most people to read a good book, even though I did a speed reading course some years ago. Speed reading is fine for newspapers, etc., but for some of the classics, every sentence is a work of art.
