D.G. Soooo....my husband dropped a cup of hot coffee on his crotch and considering that sometimes he doesn't wear pants at home, it meant that he burned himself RIGHT THERE.

He seems fine but he says the whole area feels like he got a sunburn.

message 3907: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Hahha...ok, not funny....but I hope he's okay, DG.

I finished Foolish Games by Leah Spiegel and it was ok. I'm still in a rocker mood and I guess I will give Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour #1) by Olivia Cunning a chance again. I tried reading this 3 times before. Hopefully, this time I will persevere and get past my hump in the beginning.

message 3908: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) I just started Deadly Gamble (Mojo, #1) by Linda Lael Miller

Ali, i've never read The Queen's Fool, but Gregory's Wideacre trilogy is really good and so is The Other Boleyn Girl (totally better than the movie).
Wideacre (Wideacre, #1) by Philippa Gregory The Favored Child (Wideacre, #2) by Philippa Gregory Meridon (Wideacre, #3) by Philippa Gregory The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory

message 3910: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) So woke up all happy that my biggest concern was finding a good book to read this weekend only to learn my husband's been given a month's notice because his company has no work. And of course, this happened right after we booked a non-refundable little family getaway for a few days.

Sigh. Stressed out...

I'm so sorry! That happened to me earlier this year too! 1200 people were laid off at my company. We had a bit more notice, but I couldn't find anything that paid close to what I was making. The industry is just dying. My sweet husband (who has been doing very well at his job, thank god) suggested I take some time off and go to school full time and get my degree. It's challenging and sometimes I feel scared, like what if this was the wrong choice... But everything happens for a reason. I have time now to focus on school and my marriage and reading! I appreciate what i have so much more now, not just going through the motions.

I think that is why we are challenged, Something better is out there for you and your family. ;)

D.G. Regina wrote: "Oh geez DG!!!!! Yikes. Is everything still ..... Functional?"

Oh yes. Yesterday he told me he would need a few days off but he was in working order this afternoon.

Afterwards he told me that if he could perform after I kicked him in the balls during sex (it was by mistake!), he could get past this too.

message 3915: by Leea (new)

Leea Hahaha! Thank goodness he's fully functional ;)

Tellulah, i'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I know right now you're scared and upset (I've been there) but somehow it always works out. I wish your family a wonderful family get away and try to just put this out of your mind and enjoy yourself.

message 3916: by Leea (new)

Leea Sorry, i'm posting so much, lol!

Finished Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane - ummm WOW!!!!!

There were a few shocking moments, like the end I didn't see that coming at all.

Wendy... We need to read book 3 soon. haha! How far did you get?

message 3917: by Leea (new)

Leea Now i'm going to read Elemental (Elemental, #0.5) by Brigid Kemmerer because it's a short read and everyone is talking about this series, jumping on the bandwagon. haa!

I'm going to be rereading The Summer Garden (Tatiana and Alexander, #3) by Paullina Simons tomorrow with Carina. It's such an emotional book and the whole series is really a journey. This is my favorite of the books, so much happens and so much pain and sadness. I'll have to keep the kleenex handy.

message 3918: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments just started the audiobook of ... Mary Queen of Scots and the Murder of Lord Darnley by Alison Weir for my basement organization project.

I read this... Into His Keeping by Gail Faulkner PHEW. This was like reading the stereotype of what a romance novel should be like. I like my romance angsty. But MAN. talk about "Days of our lives." People just don't talk like that. The only thing that was missing was the evil twin.

not sure what romance to start... I'm having one of those days

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) That sounds like fun!! *sigh* ARC swamped.

message 3923: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments What's ARC, Shera?

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) Advanced readers copy. So basically a copy of a book before it's released.

It took me forever what it meant.

message 3925: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Ahh thanks!

So you have a lot of ARCS, I'm taking it? Which ones?

Kay, I was looking through my books trying to find something to read and I came across this one... Gateway to Heaven by Beth Kery I've read this before but I have no memory of it, which might be a bad sign but he's a rock star... it's Beth Kery and she has some good books... sooooooooooooo...

The first line of the summary made me laugh... "Life is rough when you're gorgeous, rich, talented and so sexy the media won't leave you alone."

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thank you, Ali! I'll add it to my list!

message 3931: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) DG I saw your status update, I agree. I think that may be why I didn't go on with #3 even though I own it.

Wendy I was right where you are 2 years ago, I couldn't stop myself!

message 3932: by D.G. (last edited Aug 05, 2012 07:19AM) (new)

D.G. Yeah...to similar. And that family of hers is starting to annoy me. There are like a million of them and everybody has to have a say.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina wrote: "Wendy I was right where you are 2 years ago, I couldn't stop myself!"

Me too! I devoured the first 3 books within a week. I couldn't think about anything else but Chess and Terrible.

message 3934: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I heard #3 is the best in the "series", but you know me and PNR. ;)

I'm giving you a hard time. I'm going to start it this morning and ignore my kids & husband all day. Lol! That way I can power thru. I agree, Chess and Terrible have been on my mind I just need to know what happens with them.

message 3937: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) There's just absolutely no way I can even pretend to read something else. It wouldn't be fair to whatever book I'm picking up. I HAVE to know what happens next between Chess and Terrible!

message 3938: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) LOL. :)

message 3939: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am reading both Off the Grid (Monkeewrench #6) by P.J. Tracy and Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels, #5.5) by Ilona Andrews and I am trying to decide what to listen to.

message 3940: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Wendy and leea, before you starting Chasing Magic (which is #5) let me know and I will join you. I started it and got distracted away and want to finish it.

message 3941: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Okay, definitely. I think I'll get to it quickly, lol! Is that the last one?

message 3942: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It is. :) Not counting the short stories.

message 3943: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Well I should say it is the last one so far ...

message 3944: by Leea (new)

Leea I just finished Elemental (Elemental, #0.5) by Brigid Kemmerer , it's SO good! You ladies have to read it. It's a short story before the book Storm (Elemental, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer which i'm now very excited to read.

Crap... I'm starting City of Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #3) by Stacia Kane ... I can't help it. I need more Terrible.

message 3945: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've already finished Visions of Sugar Plums by Janet Evanovich, which was a short but hilarious novel, an now I'm about to start reading The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen.

message 3946: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments Thinking about trying this Scandalous by Ella Steele , The author also writes YA under another another name (H.M Ward.)

I'm a little worried that her Hero's name is Jack Gray and she's writing as Ella Steele (can we say Fifty Shades Fan)

But I like the idea of the book and the cover is pretty, so we will see...

message 3947: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm about 43% into City of Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #3) by Stacia Kane and the whole time (view spoiler)

Now i'm going to start The Summer Garden (Tatiana and Alexander, #3) by Paullina Simons - to those who haven't read The Bronze Horseman Trilogy *cough WENDY cough* you're missing out :)

message 3948: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) You are going to keep reading City of Ghosts though? please please please. :)

message 3949: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I finally chose an audio book: World War Z An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) Now I'm starting to think I need to jump the boat and read Downside Ghosts. Maybe I'll do a buddy read . . .
