Leea I'm a few chapters into Mind Games and I like it so far, different, unique and fun to read.

How's your trip going Regina?

message 5752: by Angie Elle (last edited Nov 17, 2012 10:27PM) (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I just finished Something About You by Julie James and feel like I was catapulted right out of my reading slump! What a great read.

I am going to try to finish Fifty Shades Darker now. If that doesn't pan out, I think I'll read Insurgent.

message 5753: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm so glad you liked it! Funny, it did the same thing for me. haha!

Just let me know when we are starting the next one!

message 5755: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Julie James did that for me when I first discovered her books.

It has been raining all day here so I finished Love Is Mortal (Valerie Dearborn #3) by Caroline Hanson and it was okay. I'm not sure what to read next. I've been searching for a book for the past hour.

message 5756: by Leea (new)

Leea I know that Laura started it. I just needed to take a little CR break. I'll let you know for sure :)

Ok...I may have to thaw my purchase freeze!

CR? Criminal Romance?

message 5758: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Leea - I'm curious to know how Mind Games is for you. I need a good Urban Fantasy.

Angie - Glad that Julie James could do that for you! I love her books, too.

Hahha...that's cute!

CR = Contemporary Romance

LOL...huge 'duh' moment!

message 5761: by Leea (new)

Leea LOL!! You might be right, i've been reading a lot of Romance lately.

Courtney, i'm enjoying Mind Games so far. It's different!

message 5762: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I finished reading Like Dandelion Dust by Karen Kingsbury by Karen Kingsbury last night and I really disappointed with it. The plot was very predictable, irritatingly repetitive, contrived and not very well-written. The concept of the story was interesting but the author is not a good enough writer to pull it off. This novel was simply too formulaic, too sweet, too predictable, too simplistic, too everything I don't like. The entire novel had that 'la-la-land' feel to it.
My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Today I've started reading The Tenderness Of Wolves by Stef Penney by Stef Penney.

message 5763: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Leea its lonely and tiring -- I am on my third one now. Boo.

Criminal Romance, I love it. :)

I finished Wolf's Glory (After the Crash #2) by Maddy Barone In the Dark (PsyCop, #6.1) by Jordan Castillo Price Sherry's Wolf (After the Crash #3.5) by Maddy Barone Sugar Creek (Destiny, #2) by Toni Blake

Trying to figure out what to read next. It needs to be light!

Glad you are liking Mind Games. I love how Crane writes her characters.

message 5764: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments finished reading In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks and it was a good read. continuing with Riding Wild (Wild Riders, #1) by Jaci Burton and i received Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling on audiobook which i'm loving.

message 5765: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh, i'm sorry Regina. I know it's so hard when my husband travels for work, it's meeting meeting and more meetings, then coctail hour and dinner then bed and do it all over again. Not fun at all.

Hope you get home soon, i'm sure you miss the kids. I'm loving Mind Games. Didn't get to read much today. Garrett has Croup and has been fussy all day. Kids are off all this next week, we had so many plans now one is sick.

Domino I loved the whole McCabe series, such great stories. I keep hearing that Maya Banks has another Highlander Series out, I keep meaning to read it. Never Seduce a Scot

I loved the McCabe series. Let's read it together...maybe after Thanksgiving?

message 5767: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Hmm, the McCabe trilogy sounds exactly what I may need right now. So sorry Garret is sick!! :( My kids have school today and tomorrow. It is hard, b/c even though my husband is the one that stays home, typical mom style -- I am the one that manages their playdates, their extra curricular stuff and homework. So I am managing it remotely. Thank goodness for facetime on the iphone. Today there was all sorts of drama since a new trimester starts and my 7th grader was put in an elective we didn't choose, so I had to deal with that and then go off on my thing. Which was positive.

Last night I tried to get beer at two different grocery stores and a restaurant (small town, no room service). Everytime I asked for a beer, I was looked at like I was crazy and then only to find out that I am in a dry town, lol! So no cocktail hours! I went across the county/state line (this town borders two states) this afternoon to get a beer -- and then I was propositioned by the guy at the counter. Haha, compliment or not?

I just started Slammed (Slammed, #1) by Colleen Hoover

I am enjoying Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #2) by Laini Taylor but it is heavy stuff.

message 5768: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I really liked the McCabe trilogy too. I think I'm gonna need a good ole regular romance book soon, lol. Maybe I'll finally finish the The Hathaways.

message 5769: by Leea (new)

Leea Compliment - take it :) Please tell me you said something like, "Honey you can't afford this." Haha!

Regina, where are you so I can never go there... haha! It was hard enough living in TX and not being able to buy hard alcohol at the grocery store but ever Sunday when I did my shopping I always forgot you couldn't buy beer and wine - madness (kidding of course :) Us Californians are so lucky, we can buy almost anything at Target or the grocery store. haha!

Last night was crazy, the Crup was worse up most of the night, my wonderful husband got up a few times and I didn't even wake up I was so tired.

You'll have to read the MacCabes, not your traditional HR. Was it book 2 that we just loved, Wendy? I'll have to go back and look through my review.

Still reading Mind Games but it's slow with the sick kid all over me. haha! I'm finally up to 19% and I just found out about Packard. Interesting for sure.

message 5770: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Haha, I went through and looked at all my reviews. The second one was our favorite, but the third one I liked more than you! :)

message 5771: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I just started In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks . I am not very far in, but I am liking it. Glad to know that #2 is good also!

Leea I can't say b/c it is a secret right now for litigation purposes, however it is some place in the south. I will share more when I can. I head home today! Yay!

How is Garrett today?

message 5772: by Leea (new)

Leea Hahaha! No worries. I'm so glad you're coming home soon, just in time for the Holiday. I loved In Bed with a Highlander, i'm so happy you like it so far.

Well last night was bad, poor guy was having a hard time and up every hour last night. Around 4am my husband made me sleep in our spare room and I passes out till 8:30am with a Stye - ugh! He's running around the house causing trouble so my guess is he's on the mend, lol! Jim and I are so tired and I hope he's better by tomorrow or we'll have to cancel our Thanksgiving plans.

Still reading Mind Games - making little to no progress but I have high hopes for today. haha!

I'm having a hard time getting into it too Stacia :( Maybe its just the set up taking a long time.

message 5775: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm reading Temptation Ridge (Virgin River, #6) by Robyn Carr . It's amazing how the town and people have changed since the beginning of the series. I'll probably finish this book tonight.

I'm heading out early AM tomorrow to Central Cali to celebrate T day with my hubby's family. I hope to sneak in some reading but I doubt I'll have much time to read.

message 5776: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina, I hope you like the McCabes!! Many are comparing the author's highlander romance to Julie Garwood...in some ways I can see why. You'll have to let us know what you think when you're done.

Leea...The Disillusionists series is one of my fave UFs. I really like the author's voice. Enjoy!

message 5777: by Leea (new)

Leea It's really getting good. I'm 40% into Mind Games and the scene has been set, you understand the characters and Crane is amazing with the personal descriptions. I'm loving it so far :)

I hope to get some reading tonight, husband is gone. Why are these days so busy...

Kay, have fun with you in-laws. This is the first year we're not running all around. Just going to my brothers then shopping for Black Friday!

message 5778: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am enjoying In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks but I am anxious to read Rhianna's story!

message 5779: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) HA! I was too!

message 5780: by Leea (new)

Leea Crap... I didn't write a review for the second book. I hate when I forget to come back.

So glad you are into the story, this is my first Maya Banks book that I really liked. I know she has another Highlander book, it's new that I need to read. I'm not that into her eroticas.

message 5781: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I'm currently reading Star of the Morning (Nine Kingdoms, #1) by Lynn Kurland . I haven't had much time to read, either. Too much going on here since my aunt and uncle came to visit and they're staying with us. We eat out for almost every meal!

message 5782: by Regina (last edited Nov 21, 2012 04:58AM) (new)

Regina (reginar) You know I liked how maya banks wrote her other books I read, like her style. But I didn't like the stories - Sweet Surrender (Sweet, #1) by Maya Banks Colters' Woman (Colters' Legacy, #1) by Maya Banks so it is nice to like the story too. :)

message 5783: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I finished In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks and will start Seduction of a Highland Lass (McCabe Trilogy, #2) by Maya Banks

So what did you think? I liked the first one good enough.

message 5786: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I liked it! It was fun, a great escape and a perfect plane/stuck at the airport for 7 hours read. :) It is not high literature and some things irritated me (like Ewan's lack of trust in Mairin in the beginning and his yelling at her in front of his men) but still, it was good, sweet and sexy. :)

I am looking forward to #2 and was surprised, lol, that it is about Rionna! LOL.

message 5787: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I just got Headed for Trouble by Suzanne Brockmann from edelweis. I am so darned excited. I need a troubleshooters fix.

message 5788: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I don't know what to read next. I'm almost scared to start something new. I was in such a 'good book drought' before I read the Julie James book!

Well... it's not EXACTLY about Rionna, hahaha.

Some things about the first book bothered me too. But then, in some Historicals like that I expect that. It bothered me less than others.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments Regina wrote: "The next Julie James book?"

It's in transit to my local library! I'm on a book buying freeze. LOL Trust me, I'm dying to get my hands on it!

I have a Kindle.

message 5794: by Leea (new)

Leea I finished Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane and loved it! Great new UF series to read - yay!!

Now i'm reading The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay .

I'm glad you are enjoying the series, Regina. I need to also pick up the next FBI Julie James book and we need to read the next Troubleshooter book, Wendy. We've been slacking and she keeps writing books. haha!

message 5795: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) If you're a Stephanie Plum fan and plan to read Notorious Nineteen... FAIR WARNING! Do not buy the book unless you have a masochistic streak. If you must read it, get it from the library or a friend.

Talk about boring... plain... dull. I almost want the unnecessary crude swearing/cussing and uninhibited sex back. That, at least, elicited a response from me. UGH! Very disappointed.

Read that this is book 1 of a 4-book contract for Plum books. I don't think I can take any more.

message 5796: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh no Lori!! I haven't read the last 2, but I was considering this one. Can you spoiler mark and tell us who she has sex with? Thanks for the warning!!

message 5797: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Leea - That's great to hear! Now I want to read it since I've been wanting to read a good urban fantasy book.

message 5798: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Courtney it is a fabulous series. Fun, unique, and sexy.

message 5799: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Regina - that sounds promising! I'll make sure to buy that tomorrow...I hope!
